The Morning Report 11/13/17

iheartdegen.jpg

Good morning kids. Another week is upon us so let's dive right on and get moving. First up is the continued kerfluffle of the Roy Moore "revelations" from last Thursday. Moore has come out swinging and he is reportedly going to sue the National Laughingstock (aka Washington Post). Good. More and more it's looking like a factual nothing-burger and yet as we all know it's the seriousness of the charge. Recall the damage in 2012 from Harry Reid's absolute lie that Mitt Romney didn't pay income taxes. Truth be told, Romney as we all know was to be charitable a less than stellar candidate, but the salient point is when Democrats lie the MFM is there to not only not challenge it but to spread the smear and make it suck the oxygen out of a news cycle. And the bastard all but admitted it was a lie after the election ("It worked, didn't it?").

Sadly, and predictably, one of the loudest in the chorus of GOP Establishmentarians calling for Moore to step down is the oleaginous Lindsay Graham. It's bad enough that the party is enraged that their shill Strange got beat by an outsider and Trump supporter, but what is just galling beyond belief is that Graham has staunchly defended Robert Menendez in open court, while on trial for corruption and who has fairly credible allegations of engaging in sexual conduct with underage prostitutes in the Dominican Republic against him. And yet Roy Moore must go?! I would like to tell Mr. Graham where he could go, as I'm sure we all would. At any rate I've seen two polls where it's both neck and neck and where Moore is still comfortably in the lead. I am praying it's the latter and that the good folk of Alabama recognize this political hit-job for what it is.

In other news, the President is hitting a grand slam home run across Asia as he continues his tour of allies and foes in the region. Of course the press will not report it or just make shit up. Meanwhile some schmuck in the House calls the good part of the Senate tax plan that sticks it to blue states with deductibility of state tax is a non-starter. Meh, McStain is going to veto whatever bill comes up for a vote anyway so why get all hot and bothered about it, right?

There was a massive earthquake along the border between Iran and Iraq and several hundred have been reported dead. Prayers for the truly innocent and hoping that terrorists and IRGC's were sent to the Infernal Reaches. Over here, there was a report of multiple stabbings at the Mall of America last night. Reports are it was a botched robbery but given the fact that the perp's name is not Sven Larsson, I'm sure we all have our suspicions.

Anyway, links from around the world, across the nation and up your street. Have a better one and remain blessed.

Listen to this man ... he knows things.

My prediction ... the majority of the GOP, which is always looking for political cover ... is dying to impeach Trump. But they don't want to get their hands dirty. So - they'll wait for Democrats to take the lead. Best if the Dems take the House and Senate ... but if the Dems scream loud enough, Ryan and McConnell will play ball even in the Majority - severity of the charge, and all that.

Push comes to shove - at least one-third of Repubican join Democrats and vote to remove Trump. I said this not too long after Trump took office. I've seen nothing to change my mind.

Having seen the extent that the FNM (Fake News Media) are willing to go even in the face of an uncontested and legal election, I'm now just about certain that it will take bullets to resolve the outright insanity promulgated and promoted by the left.

We will never be anywhere near the country we once were until the left gets beaten and beaten bad.

This means a physical ass whipping so that they know they lost and that there is no where for them to hide and spew their garbage anymore.

We may lose a couple state along the way and that will pose some hazards but I believe less so that letting them poison the rest of the country with their insanity and fascism.

Bring it on. I hope it starts before I get much older.

If necessary give me a grenade launcher and a subMg and wheel me and my wheel chair (assuming I'm in one by then) at the enemy. They'll hesitate for just enough time for me to blow a hole in their lines and I will go out with a smile.

You all make sure you get the rest and get the country back to it's roots.

RE: Moore. I am, and have been, in a state of utter despair that my position of I do not know if these allegations are true or not and I would like more information than one WaPo article before condemning a man and demanding he remove himself from public life forever is somehow support for pedophilia, means that I do not have two brain cells to rub together and means that I have no standards at all.

Here is the problem. Charges such as this, particularly after 30 some years, are impossible to prove and, more importantly, impossible to disprove absent some way of Moore showing that one of the factual statements was not possible. It is he said/she said. That is the brutal truth.

I will say this, the instant and ferocious nature of those on the Right who want Moore to step down makes me very suspicious indeed that this is a case of an open secret on the Right. If so, I want to know that. I want to know who has been hearing these rumors for 30 odd years but covered them up. I will be very blunt. I want to know what NRO and Jonah Goldberg and Jim Geraghty have been hearing for decades that they instantly, and very nastily, started attacking anyone who showed any doubts.

Unfair? Well, I'm not inclined to be fair about this when I'm being smeared in a whole new direction as being completely fine with having sex with children.

Why assume that their rapidity of condemnation stems from prior knowledge?

All the sources of outcry so far from the right are all never trumpers or GOPe.

That's enough reason for them to want to stop Moore.

They're of the belief that he will not be part of their clique and so wish to see him defeated in any way that is possible.

Question the timing. Roy Moore from what I gather has been a political lightning rod that has made the Left apoplectic for years. If they had this info why not unleash it, say, during the height of the 10 Commandments kerfluffle a few years back?

I can only see that 30-40 years ago, and before he was married, he had dated or perhaps tried to date very young WOMEN. Not girls; not by the age of consent standards of Alabama back in that day and age. It may grate you but what he did - if he did it - was 100% legal there at that time.

And yet, here we are today.

yeah, Graham loves Menendez ... besides the Uniparty selling America out to the nefarious New World Order oligarchs, they want to be sure their grifter game continues to make their DC life fun and easy. They don't want Trump or Moore (or we the people) interfering with their addiction to cocktail party power, and backroom sleaze.

All this talk of Trump being "played" by Putin or whomever ... but the Uniparty are the ones sucking up the graft, being praised and having girls and boys sent to take care of their "needs".

Back when the CIA was caught having wild parties in foreign places, it was explained to us how that works, to get them compromised, to collect blackmail material on our agents. 105 I'm very skeptical of the Corfman claims in the Post story, and her claims are the only ones of illegal conduct. The other women just said that they dated Moore when they were of legal age to do so. As to them, so what?

As for Corfman, I find it odd that all the other women said Moore was a gentleman with them, and did nothing more than kiss them, while Corfman claims a very different experience. Why would Moore strip down to his underwear and feel up only Corfman, but none of the others? Also, Moore asked permission from the other women's parents to date the daughters, but with Corfman, he picked her up around the corner from her mother's home so that her mother would not know she was going off with him. Again, why the different treatment for Corfman? Also, some of the women said they had first met Moore when they were under the age of consent, and he told them to call him when they were older, or that he waited until they were older to ask them out on a date. Again, why the different treatment for Corfman?

Also, Corfman's mother met Moore only briefly in the courthouse, before going in to her custody hearing. She says that a decade later, her daughter asked her if she remembered meeting a lawyer at the courthouse that day, and then told her mother that the man they had met was Roy Moore. So did mom have an independent memory of meeting Roy Moore at the courthouse that day in 1979, or did the daughter create that memory, 10 years after the fact, by telling her mom that the lawyer that they had met at the courthouse that day was named Roy Moore? The mother had just had a brief interaction with the lawyer at the courthouse, so there was no particular reason for her to recall his name or face a decade later.

There are a lot of unanswered questions in this matter, and we all know the WaPo has an agenda here, so hopefully the people on Moore's team are busy working to find more information.

I don;t think it's a star chamber, exactly, but they definitely hold stories for maximum impact. The NYT's John McCain alleged affair with lobbyist comes to mind, as they didn;t print that until he got the nomination (IIRC).

The More story is fishy based on how it's been reported to have come out - several reporters were working on this woman for weeks to get her on record, and she's worked on Democrat campaigns (Hillary), and the main reporter supposedly has written fake checks in several states. We just can't assume journalists are honest, or operating without assistance from Fusion GPS, etc..

support for pedophilia, means that I do not have two brain cells to rub
together and means that I have no standards at all.

Here is the problem. Charges such as this, particularly after 30
some years, are impossible to prove and, more importantly, impossible to
disprove absent some way of Moore showing that one of the factual
statements was not possible. It is he said/she said. That is the
brutal truth.

I will say this, the instant and ferocious nature of those on the
Right who want Moore to step down makes me very suspicious indeed that
this is a case of an open secret on the Right. If so, I want to know
that. I want to know who has been hearing these rumors for 30 odd years
but covered them up. I will be very blunt. I want to know what NRO
and Jonah Goldberg and Jim Geraghty have been hearing for decades that
they instantly, and very nastily, started attacking anyone who showed
any doubts.

Unfair? Well, I'm not inclined to be fair about this when I'm being
smeared in a whole new direction as being completely fine with having
sex with children.
.
.
.One of the *factual* statements the accuser made has already been dis-proven by her own mother. The woman claimed that Moore called her on the phone in her bedroom presumably so the mother would not know about the call and subsequent meeting. The mother says her daughter had no phone in her room so that could not have happened.

I am not sure who to believe myself in this whole mess. But I do know this guy has been in the public spot light for decades and been attacked by multiple people/organizations for years and this just comes up now?

It would be a whole lot more believable if she just sat down with the DA and wrote out a statement under oath. From what I have read there is no SOL on underage sex in Alabama so he could be charged if she did that.

If all they have is this one woman claiming hanky panky (and there are holes emerging in her story), and the others saying he was a gentleman, then this really is a total smear.

yeah, and the Mom said, no, her daughter did not have a phone in her bedroom. The story was he called her on her phone in the bedroom.

If one is writing a script, the "phone in the bedroom" is clearly more "pervy" and reminiscent of the Weiner story/conviction. So once facts start to conflict, the whole story falls flat ... then becomes an apparent lie.

Sexton tweeted that some friend of hers said she heard the story before it went public, as if that is verification. As if there have never been two Democrat influenced liars conspiring together. And this accuser supposedly has a string of accusations against others, and a very troubled history.

______________

I saw somebody mention that on another site over the weekend, but they didn't say where they got the info. Did the mother give an interview to somebody local in AL?

It's significant, because Corfman told the WaPo that she took the call from Moore on the phone in her bedroom. If she didn't have a phone in her bedroom in 1979, as the mother apparently says, then that part of her story isn't true. And if her memory was faulty there, then it may have been faulty in other parts of her story as well.

Every reporter, every editor, every owner, every contributor.

Time to dismantle the left's propaganda wing with extreme prejudice.

Can't do it with lawsuits. They are insulated.

But revelations of their various and sundry bad habits, poor decisions, gifts, shady deals, etc. whether substantiated or not should be looked into and the results put on billboards if it has to be that way.

They're the main reason we have such divisiveness in this country. They have promoted it and highlighted any and all stories that would push the meme that much closer to destroying the US.

Time for some push back.

--------------------------------------------------------------

And, as you know, the only claim we've seen that these actions might have even been a misdemeanor is the Washington Post claim. The AP, by contrast, reported the age of consent in Alabama at the time was 14. Moore is not accused by the woman of having sex, so by the AP report he wouldn't have had an issue under the law at the time without considering the time limitation. Even by the WaPo standard there is no liability if one could be proven. This hit is designed to get Moore to spend the rest of the election denying the story.

Kissing and touching was not then and should not be now, an illegal act if the parties are of age and in agreement.

I haven't heard of any allegations of sex (penetration) taking place or alleged to have taken place. If so then I still say that that was legal after 16.

My aunt and uncle had three kids together, and remained happily married until his death at age 70. My aunt never remarried, and when she died at 82, we buried her next to the only man she had ever loved -- a guy who would have been called a pervert and a child molester today.

So now we know that at least one detail that Corfman "remembered" in her Roy Moore story is not factually accurate.

I wonder how many more are also inaccurate?

That's the problem with trying to destroy people with stories of events from 38 years ago. People's memories are not reliable that far back, and we all know how easy it is to create "fake" memories of things that never actually happened.

And he really hates Bannon and blames him for this mess. Never mind any proof by the accusers. Never mind this whole situation is as spontaneous as a moon launch. After all, we all know Moore cannot win because something. He even went into how Moore could be thrown out if he wins and how the Governor could change when the election happens.

No concern about innocent until proven guilty. Who cares about juris prudence? Apparently not Joe because ...Bannon. This taints everything he discusses from now on.

I made some criticisms of their behavior and I think that's their response-do the silent treatment. So i guess what I'm asking for is protection and wisdom as to know how to best handle this. Thanks

208 For the 50 millionth time, if you really think sticking it to Republicans in blue states is going to work in the GOP's favor in any way, shape, or form, you're dumber than the GOPe RINOs in Congress.

Do you really think there are enough Republican votes in, say, all of NY to change NY state fiscal policy ? Least of all, to the extent necessary to reduce the state and local taxes ?

Grow up. Blue states are not monolithic entities to be screwed. They are made up of real people, the VAST majority of which have no role whatsoever in setting the kind of policies that have real world effects on state and local tax rates. I live in NY becaues of the industry I work in. I cannot just up and leave. So, thanks, for getting a good chuckle at my expense. There are thousands of us and we really do appreciate your chuckles.

Hey, I live here in good old New York City and I'm stuck too at least for the foreseeable future. That said, it is the tax policy that would force these blue states to think long and hard about policies that in a way force fiscally responsible states to pay for.

Virginia, NC, NH and other states turn purple then blue because liberals flee the policies that they have inflicted on their fellow residents and then like locusts vote Democrat in the states they and up in and destroy them in the process.

Look, I feel sorry for your individual situation and of course mine as well. But omelets and broken eggs. What cannot go on will not go on, and as soon as New York, California, Illinois, Connecticut, Jersey are forced to get their shit in order - by forcing voters to get real about fiscal policy - the better.

.That's part of the problem, no one, and I do mean no one, has been able to clearly articulate exactly what it is/was the Russians allegedly did to influence the election or how Trump supposedly colluded with them to deprive hillary of her rightful spot as President.

All we have are stories about them buying tiny amounts of facebook ads but when you look at them most of what they bought was done after the election.

I made some criticisms of their behavior and I think that's their response-do the silent treatment. This person is a clergy person and very sensitive to criticism and probably could hurt me-at least with their congregation whom I know and occasionally visit. So i guess what I'm asking for is protection and wisdom as to know how to best handle this. Thanks
Posted by: FenelonSpoke

Mpw. this is coming from a former infantry squad leader, so you may want to consider cultural grains of salt. Like a fistful.

As to passive-aggressive, were it me, I would confront and hold accountable. Get all the ducks in a row. If you don't have specific details handy, (dates, actions, words), then gather such.

Of course, you may discover metal illness (the kind that denies reality). If so, that would be a good thing.

You may also end up "calling the bluff and bluster" and see that behavior diminish. Passive-aggressive is about pushing people around. Push back.

309 I will say this, the instant and ferocious nature of those on the Right who want Moore to step down makes me very suspicious indeed that this is a case of an open secret on the Right.

Posted by: alexthechick - Ragebunny. Hopping all around. at November 13, 2017 07:32 AM (dEQP3)

Doubtful. If it had been an open secret, surely Luther Strange would have used it. (That is not to say it can't be true, only that if true, it's hard to see how "everyone knew".)

The whole matter is tricky. Like most in my generation, I have a gut "ick" reaction to the idea of that much gap in age. But then, I also know that this is a product of time and place. In the 19th C, it was not uncommon for a grown man to point out a girl of 12 and say "When she grows up, I'm going to marry her", and do so. The Victorians had had no problem with that; and we know what wild swingers they were.

Go earlier: one thing that was obvious in the 90s, when all the Austen movies came out, is that almost every single actress was too old (except in Persuasion). Read the books. Col Brandon could not have been less than mid-30s, while Marianne is 16. And so with most of them.

Posted by: George LeS at November 13, 2017 10:00 AM (+TcCF)

310 I'm sorry, but I am having a really hard time seeing defending Moore while attacking others as anything but hypocrisy.

I get it...he was your preferred candidate (although the whole, "Luther Strange is a RINO" thing is frankly just bizarre, to anyone familiar with the man's record.)

But when I see posts saying, "Well, he was at West Point and didn't have a chance to date teenagers when he was younger" or "Well, in the Middle Ages..."

C'mon people. Seriously. If 32-year-old Ray Moore came near your 14 (or 16) year-old daughter, you'd kick his perverted ass.

He either did this, or he did not. If he did it, it is his fault, not Mitch McConnell's, Mitt Romney's or anyone else's.

I am inclined to discount them. Why? Consider the opposition.

They spend untold millions in oppo research. And now they are reduced to paying for fabrication. I believe they have effectively policed the ranks of the Right and if there is a moral scandal, it will be something quite recent. Not something running for decades and an "open secret".

This is GOP Fusion -like propaganda with, even worse, endorsement by swamp-swimming "Republicans".

I hope Moore sues as many of these smear machines into the poor house and/or prison as possible despite long odds.
