We met up a few times after work for a couple of cold ones, and the TV in the bar had Jerry Springer on. This was pre Whose The Daddy shows. 387 I'd say slacks, dress shoes, dress shirt is pretty much still the norm for engineers at least in aerospace. If it's a meeting with senior leadership then you have to wear a tie. I've seen that in the west coast, midwest, and east coast. Maybe in small shops it's more casual but big commercial and defense is all pretty strict still.

I work in an huge IT shop at one of the biggest financial firms in the world.

I'm 30 years older than the next youngest in my department. As you said, they wear t shirts and jeans. It looks like they are ready to go to a concert or drinking.

Management has put out puzzles, YES PUZZLES, nerf guns, corn hole stands, etc. so they can decompress and get the creative juices flowing again. None of the women in the department would be caught dead with any of them. Generally, they date/marry older guys. (Dayum!

If he's the bookish sort and really wants an academic education, you might consider an explicitly conservative school like Hillsdale, Grove City, Liberty, Franciscan-Steubenville, etc.

And there are many secular schools where conservatives and orthodox Christians are not treated like scum, even though the school is not explicitly conservative.

As for Asians, the largest of course is China but unless you can read Mandarin or Cantonese, you won't find many stories in the official press about the gangs of rapists in China.
