1 Good Morning Morons today is Sunday, October 22, 2017. On this day in 1962 John F. Kennedy, after internal counsel from Dwight D. Eisenhower, announced that American reconnaissance planes had discovered Soviet nuclear weapons in Cuba, and that he has ordered a naval "quarantine" of the Communist nation. This is probably the closest we ever came to war with Russia.

According to Drudge, Melania T. only has 4 staffers and a payroll of under $500k, while The Mooch had a staff of 16 and a payroll well north of a million. I seem to recall reading that Moochelle had a staff of 23. In either case, what a contrast.

As an added bonus, Melania hasn't destroyed the school lunch menu, hated America, dissed the flag, glared at other First Ladies, dressed like a sofa, or brought new meaning to the term boob belt.

All that stuff costs money and now we're going to wind up imprisoning him for a few years.

What's the point? Can't be to encourage the others cause we've got an all volunteer military now. And that's for the best.

Anyone joins who decides they want out should be shown the door asap. They should pay for any training or other expenditures but they should be let out. Why keep someone who doesn't want to be there. I disagree. There's lots of money involved getting them to that point (e.g. boot camp, advanced infantry training, and then MOS school (aka gaining a skill)) that is all taxpayer funded. So who wouldn't join, gain a skill and then raise their hands saying this gig ain't for me.

Hell, if that was the case then I would have less than two yrs b/c I was a young punk who hated authority and couldn't wait to get the hell out but by the end of my first enlisted I realized that I actually liked being a Jarhead and stuck around so long that they had to tell me "dude you don't have to go home, but you can't stay here".

Sure its not for everybody sure but there is no draft and you did sign the contract (3, 4, or 6 years) and some signed up for some critical skill (think Cybersecurity, Counter Intelligence, Aircraft Maintenance, etc) and got a nice bonus as well that you will definitely pay back if you don't do the full requirement.

Then they go to break out an adapter sub from it and spun the pinion off the shaft. It's a tapered fit that is "blued" together. Meaning close tolerance, heated up and pressed together. There will be about a dozen people looking at it going "What happened?" "Why?" '"How much is this gonna cost?" The only answer at this point is "We have to take it apart."

I only mention this for the old mechanics here who already knew what "blueing" means.

.It was all part of the liberal master plan. Give Iran back it's frozen $$$$ and trade for him to give back five of their foot soldiers. hillary most assuredly would have continued with the Iran deal that Trump just killed and most likely would have had the military stop the Court proceedings against the traitor quietly.

People still don't understand how much stuff got screwed up from the liberal/globalist viewpoint by Trumps win. That's why everyone including bush is attacking him every day.

The National Mall is the hardest place to find a parking spot. With the food trucks, and no parking places. Union Station has parking on the roof, but you have to find the entrance. Pay before you head up to your car inside the station by machine. there was plenty of parking on the roof, and not that expensive. Of course you then have to walk, and walk.

151 46 I don't understand why we didn't just leave Bergdahl where he was. He was where he wanted to be and the damage he could do was probably limited as soon as he walked off the fire base.

All that trouble for a nobody a nothing.

They shouldn't have looked for him either. Didn't they have a clue he was going ga-ga?

All that stuff costs money and now we're going to wind up imprisoning him for a few years.

What's the point? Can't be to encourage the others cause we've got an all volunteer military now. And that's for the best.

Anyone joins who decides they want out should be shown the door asap. They should pay for any training or other expenditures but they should be let out. Why keep someone who doesn't want to be there. Never understood the mind set of keeping people in who didn't want to be there. They'll never make a good sailor/soldier/airman/marine so why bother?

And a guy like Bergdahl causes more trouble in than out.

Well not my worry.
Posted by: Bitter Clinger and All That (Back from the Dead)

Well, there's always the morsel of justice and closure for the families of the troopers who died looking for his sorry ass.

His behavior was egregious and way beyond "I wanna quit."

On the cost, I think the lowest cost solution would be to put Bergdahl back in his unit and pre-pardon one and all for any crimes against him.

It doesn't matter that the men who served there are all gone now. Among his sins, he betrayed his unit and they would be happy to cleanse that stain.

I lived in the Baltimore/DC metro area for 17 years and still find new stuff to see when I go back to visit.

I used to be a manager for Penney's and worked at the Westfield Wheaton Mall (just outside the DC Beltway) for a while. Now I just drive over there, park in the lot for free, hop on the Metro, get off at Gallery Place and walk down to the National Gallery or the Mall. Kids might like that Metro stop. Has the longest single (no landings) escalator in the world. Takes about 5 minutes to ride down. I HATE trying to park in DC.

LOL!! Mostly once the sidewalks became unwalkable, due to the throngs.

Loved the twee old houses, the fact that the bar on the corner keeps rebuilding, even though they get flooded out every couple of years, the railway trestle, even the new age shop. Is it still there? Must have missed it while trying to do three things at once... and if they can afford to their way out then they wouldn't have joined in the first place no?

I hear you about the recruiting piece but they do vet them pretty diligently (at least the Marine and Navy want-a-bes) all the while pressed to make mission every single month for every single MOS/Rating... Not as easy as it sounds since the reward for getting your quota each month is "you were recruiter of the month so I expect that and at least one more for ol' numnuts NALNAMSAM who couldn't recruit shit." And the reward for not getting quota two months in a row is random calls to the spouses saying "your husband/wife isn't doing well so you might be looking to relocate" and other psych games. Fun times for all...
