I have nothing to say that won't be said funnier and more caustically than by The Horde.

80 I met her in a club down in North Soho
Where you drink champagne and it tastes just like cherry cola
See-O-L-A cola.

She walked up to me and she asked me to dance.
I asked her name and in a dark brown voice she said, "Lola"
L-O-L-A Lola, lo lo lo lo Lola

Well, I'm not the world's most physical guy,
But when she squeezed me tight she nearly broke my spine
Oh my Lola, lo lo lo lo Lola

Well, I'm not dumb but I can't understand
Why she walk like a woman and talk like a man
Oh my Lola, lo lo lo lo Lola, lo lo lo lo Lola
Well, we drank champagne and danced all night,
Under electric candlelight,

She picked me up and sat me on her knee,
And said, "Little boy won't you come home with me?"
Well, I'm not the world's most passionate guy,
But when I looked in her eyes,
Well I almost fell for my Lola,
Lo lo lo lo Lola, lo lo lo lo Lola
Lola lo lo lo lo Lola lo lo lo lo Lola

I pushed her away. I walked to the door.
I fell to the floor. I got down on my knees.
I looked at her, and she at me.
Well that's the way that I want it to stay.
And I always want it to be that way for my Lola.
Lo lo lo lo Lola.

Girls will be boys, and boys will be girls.
It's a mixed up, muddled up, shook up world,
Except for Lola. Lo lo lo lo Lola.

Well I left home just a week before,
And I've never ever kissed a woman before,
But Lola smiled and took me by the hand,
And said, "Little boy, gonna make you a man."

Well I'm not the world's most masculine man,
But I know what I am and I'm glad I'm a man,
And so is Lola.
Lo lo lo lo Lola. Lo lo lo lo Lola.

118 1.
Gotta be some inside joke by the artist. That might be the weirdest paining ever made if done as a serious representation of what the painter was actually looking at.

That face is so manly, lean and stern, the forehead is so heavy with bone, you can actually see it. Was it actually a man in a dress? But the wrists are so feminine and plump and the dainty pinky?

2.
Is someone playing with photoshop to screw around with electronic images of historic paintings?

Seeding the past with visual evidence of the pervasiveness of the trans?

3.
Or the painter sucked and hatred the benefactor.

163 I am not a painter or remotely qualified to be an art critic, but as a
moron, I'll comment anyway. Unfortunate facial rendering aside, overall
it looks awkward. The angle of the bodice is off and the
left hand is just weird. After some digging around on the interwebs,
it does appear, as others have noted above, that Copley just
didn't paint women well. There is a youtube video titled "2 minutes with the Curator" that talks about this painting and says that the
apparent 5 o'clock shadow is a result of the paint aging. Allegedly.

That's not unheard of for some artists to not be familiar with the female form or structure. Michelangelo was notorious for making his women very manly. One prominent theory was he didn't know what nude women looked like, so used men and put breasts on them. This lead to the popular idea that he was really gay. Also, it was improper for women to pose for artists, so effeminate men were used--or prostitutes.

Maybe all the men looked like women because they were French aristocrats.
Posted by: Donna and V. (sans amepesands at the present time) at October 19, 2017 10:03 AM (ZM2xo)

Two things: She was the era just before the Revolution, where French male aristocrats were very dainty and effeminate. Second, being a female artist, her access to subject matter and models were limited by Academic rules. She was not allowed to study nudes, for example. Because she was very close to the Queen, and she was descended from a very prominent artistic family (LeBrun), her reputation had to remain relatively intact. She wold have only had access to women in upper-class domestic circles. The majority of her models would most likely have been females.

338 Overall, this is another nice example of a portrait in the grand manner. An upper-class "woman" in her finest dress, properly and fashionably accessorized. The trees are probably meant to look like her estate, showing her a lady of wealth, means, leisure and class. Her eyes are solid and strong showing a force of will, but she doesn't look at you directly saying she is demur. That is in the British style of grand manner, I would deduce the family were Loyalists, rather than Rebels. I say this without looking it up though, so gain of salt. Compare this to Copley's picture of Paul Revere--American Grand Manner.

I'm sympathetic to trans people (not "The Cause", just people), and i'm fine with Playboy doing this. You wanna get turned on by a picture of a trans person? Hooray, go for it.

But the agitators will NEVER be ok with someone saying "You know, I'm not down with that. I'm sorry, but i'll never be able to recognize your chosen gender." That is a thought you are not allowed to have.

And the trans person is also in turn not allowed to have the thought, "Well, OK then. It makes no difference to me what you do or don't recognize, as long as you're not being an asshole to me, you can recognize whatever the hell you want." They must be a downtrodden oppressed class. They can never be empowered simply to accept your refusal of them, or else their usefulness as a Class would disappear.

Now that the snowball is rolling on the casting couch issue, the question is whether or not there is enough momentum there to bring up all the other muck that lies beneath it, or will the whole thing peter out, break apart, and melt away before that happens.

618 So...there are now how many Hollywood "actresses" who are claiming to have been molested at some point in their career. Who said nothing about it until now.

I would like to understand why none of them said anything about it until now. But continued to work in the industry.

I can possibly understand if it was 1950. But it's not and most of these accusations say the assaults occurred in the past ten to fifteen years.

And none of them said anything.

Kind of like Taylor Swift saying nothing nor even moving away from the butt cheek grabbing disc jockey.

I don't get it. I would never, regardless of where I was standing, or what job I was auditioning for , stand there and be grabbed, or worse, be alone with some dude in his hotel room then say nothing after I was jumped.

John Nolte is calling them out on this beautifully. They claim to want to change the culture yet no one is naming names except for Weinstein. He's saying if they don't they are still complicit in letting the others get away with it.

Last night on Nightline there was a look at the sexual abuse of gymnasts on Team USA, the can of worms McKayla Maroney unearthed. The doctor doing the abuse was apparently a rampant predator to a ton of girls. Will be interesting if they can determine if the Karolyis knew. Could crumble their entire dynastic legacy if found guilty of ignoring abuse. As it should. But who knows at this point.

Sounds like he told authorities years ago.

I think with his case, he and the other Corey were so messed up (drugs) they were focusing on getting their lives under control. Also, Feldman's chief abuser was the man hired by his to take care of him, and his parents sounded more interested in his earnings than his well-being. Dude was being f'ed over by almost everyone in his life except his BFF.

I have a lot more sympathy for a child star who was abused at every turn and is just trying to get his life in order as an adult.

Read the Twitter comments. 90% unhappy with magazine.
The 10% who think this is great are going on about how Hefner was so supportive of the LGBT community, etc.

The 90% need to realize that Hugh Hefner was a sleaze ball pervert. The countless young women who found themselves in the unglamourous world of porn, addiction, and depression after posing in Playboy (Holly Madison can testifiy to what being Hef's girlfriend did to her mentally) are a testament to what his hedonistic lifestyle promotion really produced. His brave new world led to worse sleaze balls such as Guccione and Flynt.

Why anyone would expect Playboy to not simply go for shock factor now is a puzzle. They have no where else to go.

I dunno. It didn't do anything for the headlights on the gal in the picture.

694 Last night on Nightline there was a look at the sexual abuse of gymnasts on Team USA, the can of worms McKayla Maroney unearthed. The doctor doing the abuse was apparently a rampant predator to a ton of girls. Will be interesting if they can determine if the Karolyis knew. Could crumble their entire dynastic legacy if found guilty of ignoring abuse. As it should. But who knows at this point.

I believe the Karolyi's are named in the lawsuits. A lot of the abuse occurred at their facility.

Holly Madison is also a spurned girlfriend so take that as you will. She was devastated when Hef dumped her when she thought he was going to marry her. That said I don't necessarily disagree with you but there are always two sides to a story.

697 For some reason this reminds me of the Simpson's episode where Marge painted a nude portrait of Mr. Burns.

when he saw it unveiled in the museum he commented:

"thank you for not mocking my genitalia".

Marge: "I thought I did."

Wasn't that little creep Bill Maher also a frequent visitor to the Hefner mansion?

699 201 It could be a female w/hormone issues. The rendering of the different fabrics and textures is fantastic.

Sure. Sounds pluasable, having testicles will do that to a gal.

The fabric is delightful.

711 Sorry, Zombie Ted. She doesn't date Irish people, or anyone else whose ancestors arrived after about 1650.

Even at the time of this painting, those people had been inbred for five or six generations.

712 This is in the Minneapolis Institute of Arts permanent collection. I worked there on the Art Crew, hanging, installing, and transporting art. Having personally handled this painting and seen it up close, I can tell you that he is more lovely in person, and his five o'clock shadow is exquisitely rendered.
