Rather than bring immediate charges in 2010, however, the Department of Justice (DOJ) continued investigating the matter for nearly four more years, essentially leaving the American public and Congress in the dark about Russian nuclear corruption on U.S. soil during a period when the Obama administration made two major decisions benefitting Putin's commercial nuclear ambitions while the Clinton foundation was receiving "donations" to ease the pain.

Like the Caillebotte from a few days ago, this one really shows the influence of photography as well as the desire make a work more realistic. Look how crowded the right-hand-side is, while three people take up the left. In real life groups are never evenly distributed. Instead they go off in groups and cliques. Renoir is faithfully depicting this. But to counter this imbalance he evenly distributes color. The colors are also warm and bright, emphasizing a beautiful summer day in Paris, the most modern city in the world (and beautiful if you ask a Parisian). I'm not a Renoir fan, but I can see why this work is so respected.

Theory on Campos - (don't know if anyone else has proposed this, haven't been able to catch up on comments)
Campos was on duty, but nowhere near Mandalay Bay that night. He was off whoring and drinking and drugging or something, while he was clocked and supposed to be on the job. So he hears about the tragedy, realizes he is about to be busted, so he gets a gun, gives himself a superficial shot to the leg and runs to the scene as soon as he's sober, saying "see? I was there! I was there!" Then a reporter runs into him and he decided to make it ever better by spinning an absolutely wonderful story. And all of a sudden his story goes national, because it was TOO good. And finally, at the last minute, Campos realizes how much trouble he is in, especially when it comes out that his gunshot wound is from a small caliber handgun that he keeps at home. If you were Campos, what would you do today? Posted by: Tom Servo at October 17, 2017 10:14 AM (V2Yro) 197

It's interesting how different media distort the colors of paintings. I'd bet it's the lighting when the picture is taken. I used to have to warn my students about this. In class, we went by the colors of the picture in front of us, but I wanted them to keep in the back of their mind that tones and intensity changes in other media. It is always best to see a work in person, if possible.

=== They are just people. You should never trust any people completely. *shrug* There are good ones and bad ones. "Good ones" Federal agents used a confidential U.S. witness working inside the Russian nuclear industry to gather extensive financial records, make secret recordings and intercept emails as early as 2009 that showed Moscow had compromised an American uranium trucking firm with bribes and kickbacks in violation of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, FBI and court documents show. "Bad ones" Rather than bring immediate charges in 2010, however, the Department of Justice (DOJ) continued investigating the matter for nearly four more years, essentially leaving the American public and Congress in the dark Nothing new under the sun. It's traitors all the way down. ==== You may be right. I may be wrong. But understand this. Law enforcement collects facts and evidence. That's it. They do not prosecute. They collect the facts and the evidence and turn it over to the prosecution. The prosecutor is usually involved early in the investigation but may not be ware of day to day developments as he may have 100 cases assigned. Prosecutors are very frequently influenced by politics as the the flow of funding for prosecutions are controlled by an appointed Chief Prosecutor or AUSA. Prosecutors decline to prosecute cases every day. Every single day. For all kinds of reasons. It sucks but it is true. Justice and law enforcement are frequently corrupt, But "slowness to act" is not necessarily a function of corruption. Cowardice might be a better description. And they had the whole election rigged, it was a machine coast to coast. And they still lost which suggests strongly to me that Trump steamrolled in the popular vote, despite the official count. Posted by: Christopher R Taylor at October 17, 2017 11:22 AM (39g3+) 452
