Better and Better: "Women's Advocate" Lisa Bloom Attempted to Stop Publication of Story About Roy Price's Harassment of Isa Hackett

She didn't just flak for Harvey Weinstein, she also flakked for Roy Price -- and succeeded in blocking the publication of the "you will love my dick" story mentioned below.

For a while, anyway.

Bloom's defense was certainly effective. Masters went through legal vetting of the story with six different publications before she finally found an outlet for it...

Buzzfeed and the Daily Beast both passed, for example.

In fairness, the accuser, Isa Hackett, refused to go on the record until recently, and while she issued some kind of statement, the statement wasn't "definitive," as the author of the article admits. She had corroborating witnesses -- but they were off-the-record too.

Still: certainly Bloom knew who the accuser was.

But she bulled and threatened lawsuits on Roy Price's behalf anyway.

Over the weeks that would follow, as I began searching for a home for my scoop, Harder and Bloom convinced every publication that considered my story that they weren’t just threatening legal action but would indeed sue.

Perhaps that threat was so convincing because Harder had handled Hogan's devastating suit against Gawker with backing from billionaire Peter Thiel. In her zeal to protect her client--who has yet to address any of the allegations in my piece publicly--Bloom claimed that I had turned on Price after he rebuffed my demand to have Amazon underwrite The Business, the public-radio show that I host on KCRW. I can't guess who concocted that allegation, but I assume the idea was to establish a potential argument that I had behaved unethically and had a personal grudge against him and therefore didn’t care what the facts were. (Since Price is a public figure, his only hope of prevailing in court would be to argue that I published information I knew to be false or acted in reckless disregard of whether it was false.)

When I first read the claim in an email from Bloom, I was angry, but I also laughed because it was ridiculous. I've never discussed underwriting with anyone, even internally at KCRW. I don't know the first thing about it. I'm told Bloom insisted she had proof, though of course none was produced. My editor at THR told her that the story was false, but she repeated it to other publications nonetheless.

Lisa Bloom -- defender of women. And also, threatener of women, if a liberal male client is paying her cash money to do so.

Lisa Bloom is no longer representing Roy Price. She says she stopped representing him before the producer (Isa Hackett) went public with her charges, as if that's a critical fact that keeps her out of the Hired Gun for Rich Liberal Male Harassers category. (See the first link, to John Sexton's piece in Hot Air, for more on that.)

They're all going up in flames. It's amazing.

I think this might be the start of a moral panic. To go along with the other ones we're caught up in.

A lot of innocent people are going to be destroyed in this. Regular people who don't have big pockets to lean on.

Remember the ZOMG Satan's Running The Goddamn Day Cares moral panic back in the 1980s?

Some of the people falsely jailed in that fiasco are just getting out of jail NOW.

And Rose McGowan is increasingly coming off as a nutter. Her response to someone at Amazon saying there wasn't proof that Weinstein raped her was, "I'm the proof".

Weinstein is a slippery bastard and likely a pig, but if we start talking about sending people to jail because some woman says so, we're in for serious problems.

Same thing happens with cultures. When we talk about Africa or Asia most people just put their own cultural values on the top of it and nothing could be further from the truth. They aren't like us and we're not like them. Thus has it always been.

Another area you see this kind of thinking is education. People just assume the public schools are like the ones they went to 30-40 years ago (or however long). They're almost nothing like that now.

60 Interestingly, it was Tom Cruise who came up with the whole idea of the character Les Grossman.

Apparently, in the earlier scripts, they never went back to the "real world," they were always in the jungle. It was a major plot hole that no one seemed to notice that the actors were missing in action. Tom Cruise had been sent the script (he was asked if he wanted to play the Tugg Speedman role, eventually played by co-writer Ben Stiller), and it was Cruise who suggested a Les Grossman type character as a second villain:

Stiller: I had been talking to Tom about being in the movie. He read the script and actually came up with the idea for the character.

Cornfeld: Tom read the script when there was no Les Grossman and said, "I think you need another villain other than just the 12-year-old drug king. What about some greedy pig studio executive who really represents the gross part of Hollywood?"

Stiller: His idea to show the studio head actually fixed a problem we had for a long time. We never cut back to the real world for any of the previous drafts. All the Grossman scenes totally fixed the plot holes.

I was reading last night about Uncle Harvey's family situation, and got sick to my stomach.

Uncle Harv has three young daughters with his first wife, Lily 22, the oldest, and two others ages 19 and 14.

The he has two young ones with the current Mrs. Harv, Georgina Chapman. A 7 yr old daughter and a 4 yr old son.

From some articles on the Daily Mail, I got to feeling sorry for Lily. She's apparently having to take care of the two young ones, the 7 and 4 yr old.

That's while Daddy is at the perv farm, and Mom is trying to save her Marchesa brand or whatever.

Mrs. Marchesa is a Brit actress and her breakout role was "Floozy #1" is some gangster flick back in the day. But she became Mrs. Harv and got the Marchesa line. I wonder how.

Voter ID? With all the illegal votes and voters being discovered, their objections to ID have become a transparent scam to cheat citizens out of their vote. Even regular Dems don't oppose voter ID.

Illegal immigrants? Majorities of Dems, hispanics; hell damn near every group oppose their taking jobs from Americans.

Really, I can't think of a major issue that the Dems are occupying the high poll or moral ground on. Cut taxes? They are opposed. Fix OCare? Always a straight ticket No vote.

Sadly, no fireplace. Which kinda sucks so I will have to sell the unbelievable fireplace set from the 1800s that my parents had. And, nope, no skating. Pond is a protected habitat. Which is wonderful because that means nobody else can be out there harshing my mellow. And if they do, I can shoot them. Not 100 percent sure about that last part but am itching to hit the range.

Born in '60. And I have to agree. Limbaugh, then Fox and the internet have pulled the curtain wide open. If you stand back and really appreciate the behavior of people and institutions that even during the time of Dubya were "respected/respectable" and are now shit-shows, it's breathtaking to behold. Ronan Farrow has been working on this story for 10 months, and sold it to New Yorker after NBC declined. Think NYT rushed to get out a story based on old info (never published) first because they knew the Farrow story was coming out.

Farrow deserved the credit along with the women who were willing to go on record. If anyone else was assisting behind the scenes...?

This has been tested and you can find it on the internet. I think that guy that does all the drywall panels in a row has a bunch of videos showing the penetration of various rounds.

Another "who ordered the hit on Uncle Harvey" theory I heard on a local radio talk show this afternoon was that it was Eisner at Disney. For some financial reason, power play with all the media companies.

Occasionally when I'm at the checkout line at the grocery store, I'll see a tabloid with a headline like:

"He's Cheating on Gigi" with a photo of Gigi.

And I will have no idea who that is.

If I mention it to people, they will then argue with me, and insist I know this person, because of movies/tv.

But I won't.

And I'm OK with that.

He explained that teamsters made more money than most lawyers because most lawyers were incompetent jerks.

272 My limousine liberal town is having a "special meeting" to discuss the "burgeoning enrollment" of our very expensive high school. Apparently enrollment has jumped about 13% in a decade.
In an unrelated development, young families from Mexico and South America have been pouring into the area at unprecedented rates for the past decade.

Many fine people. But a lot of people nonetheless.

I'm sure if I got up to speak at the meeting and suggested that there might just perhaps be a relationship between voting for open borders and crowding, traffic and higher taxes. But I'd probably be run out of town on the H8 Train.

I didn't have a pond to look out on, but have three big windows looking west. So for $3500 I had a 2/3 acre pond built five years ago. All that is needed is a nice ditch that drains maybe 10 acres or more. Moving to the country is pretty nifty, I recommend it.

275 To be fair, everyone is entitled to legal representation. Lawyers can be, and are, conscripted all the time.

I remember when taking Legal Ethics a story my professor related. His legal specialty was defending attorneys from their clients' malpractice suits, so he knew a thing or two about the subject.

So his client was sitting in the gallery of a divorce court for a friend whose case was coming up later. A lady was representing herself in her own divorce. It was horrible, she being overruled dozens of times until the judge had enough, and just did eeny meeny miney mo pointing at the gallery until he saw a familiar face. He said to the man, "you, you're in here all the time, so you're a lawyer. You are now her lawyer. Get to work."

"But I'm not a divorce lawyer."

"And that's not my problem. It's either that or contempt."

So he incompetently represented her divorce and got sued.

Moral of the story: someone had to represent him.

No coincidence - On Glenn Beck today, he interviewed Bill O'Reilly who said there is a corrupt lawyer offering women 200k to accuse republican politicians of sexual offences ... HMMMMMMM

Bloom is such a piece of crap I have no words. Her mother is just as bad. Political hacks and should be disbarred. Hope to god it happens
