AP Publishes Recording of Sound Associated with Havana Attacks on Americans

People report hearing an ugly sound and then getting a bunch of ailments, like dizziness.

The AP has a recording of the sound the victims of these mysterious attacks hear.

I listened to it, and felt no problems. But the report notes that audio recording equipment usually only records the span of frequencies the human ear can hear (plus a little bit below and a little bit above). Presumably, most of this sound is in fact inaudible, out of the range of human hearing, and the body feels it and reacts to the parts of the spectrum that can't be heard.

No one knows how they're doing this yet. Or at least our IC says they don't know how this is being accomplished. (Maybe they do, but don't want to give the secret away.)

28 My one friend is into all these alternative healing treatments. He had a sound therapist come to his house. She had this machine that generated sound frequencies. When I was on it I got uncomfortable after about two minutes. She was really puzzled, she said that she had it on a normal setting. I told her I must be super sensitive to that stuff so I begged off. Some people could stay on it for fifteen minutes or more.

I lived in an apartment once that had an old as dirt microwave. The first time I turned that thing on I felt a tingle in my testicles. We threw that PoS out and got a new one, even though we were poor.

111 If this sound is hurting people, it must be high energy. A recording of it won't be high energy.

Also, it may be important that some or much of the signal is in a particular frequency range that isn't really in the human hearing range (like, a whole bunch of subsonic energy). As Ace noted, recording equipment is typically designed to capture audio in the human hearing range. What the equipment is capturing could just be the harmonics that *are* in the human hearing range. The shadow of the sound, not the sound itself, to use a visual metaphor.

So, the recording may not include the harmful frequencies at all, and whatever was recorded is not being played back at a dangerous amount of energy. It's not surprising that people can listen to the recording without feeling any pain.

Several ear parts rub up against the jaw muscles. I get ear aches when my jaw starts to swell from some stuff done during the orthodontic stuff I went though as a kid (basically they expanded my pallet, so if I chew too hard for too long my jaw gets sore.)

Anyway, could work in reverse, swell up enough ear parts (say the ear drum or cochlea) it might hurt your jaw.
Ditto for dizziness. Get the inner ear damaged enough and you'll be really dizzy. (Mom-in-law's head injury left her inner ear permanently damaged so she's basically riding a roller coaster 24/7.

190 So, I know some "professional audio people" but not well enough to ask them about this.

I'd guess that this is indeed an attack and an act of war.

Here's an explanation of audible frequencies:

https://www.teachmeaudio.com/mixing/techniques/audio-spectrum/

Humans can hear up to 20K or so.

However, the spectrum goes up to 1MHz.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hearing_range

High frequencies are fatiguing. Think about listening to pre-teen girls scream at a One Direction show. Painful.

This was an attack. No doubt about it.

I would imagine transmitters that look like cell tower ones or even satellite TV receivers could be used.

200 Humans as Space Australians

There's an idea floating about that Jupiter and the other gas giants inadvertently let life last long enough to develop intelligence by intercepting most of the comets and asteroids. I.e. without them, Earth would be hit a lot more often, and other systems are less likely to have life without such ginormous gravity wells.

So the alien-based 'theory' is that they were *placed* there for that purpose.

I want to link that with the Space Australian idea. I really do.

It seems easier for people to believe in demons or conspiracies of demonic humans than to believe that nice Mister Smith down the road diddles children.

Why's that? Maybe that ancient need to trust the tribe and distrust the Other. Mister Smith had a house like mine, works a similar job, goes to a similar church, unconsciously we include him in the tribe and so we don't want to believe he's evil.

I don't know it's probably too pat but I think there are elements of that at play.

That's an excellent point as well and it dovetails with Lizzy's point about needing control.

I'm in the camp that the reason conspiracy theories are so popular is that it's an attempt to reassert control over the world along with a smattering of neurobiology that the brain is hard wired to see patterns even when none are there.

It may be that I'm overthinking it (there's a shock) and it is simply that humans know there are monsters out there with human faces but that's too psychologically threatening so we'll make those normal looking people over there into witches and displace everything onto them.

About the only point in that whole pathetic article was when he climbed into bed with her, drunk one night, and then left when she told him to go. What the hell was she doing staying at his apartment, anyway? She had already said how totally uncomfortable she felt on the set (20 times, though she kept going back to work there).

344 The human hearing range goes from about 20 Hz up to 22 kHz so I think the article is wrong when it says the sounds were between 7,000 and 8,000 kHz. They must mean 7 and 8 kHz if it was audible.

The fact that you have pulses over 20 equally spaced frequencies suggests it could be some kind of digital data transmission. There are ham radio digital modes that use a similar transmission scheme. It would be low bit-rate and wouldn't have much range but it might be strong enough to be detectable from the outside say through a vibrating window pane.

Or it could just be designed to be very annoying. It's also possible that the original sound is ultrasonic and what the people are hearing is just something in the room that is resonating at a lower harmonic.

357 Last night I inadvertently grabbed one of my bewbs. I'm sorry, I just had to get that off my chest, as it were. Should I call CNN?

Back when I was in High School, my crush was walking by me in the hall. We were friends. I was talking with someone, but wanted to acknowledge her. I reached out to squeeze her upper arm in a friendly "hello" gesture, but was mostly paying attention to the person I was talking to.

I totally honked her boob. I was mortified. She saw my reaction and understood immediately it was a mistake and was very forgiving. I wished I could crawl into my locker and hide.

Werewolves are real. Not as in turning into wolves. As in monsters who prey on the weak and hide in plain sight. It is the duty of all good people to root them out and fight them, but all too often "culture" teaches that they're cool and we should want to be like them.

This, gentle Morons, is why we're Fucked.

This is correct - but remember, they love science and math sexually . . so it all evens out.
One simply cannot "win millions" at any game at a casino without also losing millions - one cannot support one's self as a "professional gambler" with the small exception of tournament poker players - but in that instance you are not playing the house, you are playing other suckers . . I mean players.
By the way, the general rule of thumb, which no lefty libtard has yet seemed to learn, is that if you are having a hard time figuring out who the sucker is at the table . . . then it is you.

You have to willingly suspend disbelief in reality to be at a pron site, which is chock full of advertisements which absolutely guarantee enlongment, engorgement, and a host of other promises which actual somewhat normal people disregard -- then click on a link which tells you they have an answer to a problem you don't have.

Then believe an article that tells you 'millions' clicked that link. Listen, I have as much distrust in my fellow man as the average person here, but I just can't believe that many people are that stupid.

Maybe I'm naive. I don't want to be naive.
