aceofspadeshq at gee mail.com CBD: cbd.aoshq at gee mail.com Buck: buck.throckmorton at protonmail.com joe mannix: mannix2024 at proton.me MisHum: petmorons at gee mail.com | The Godfather: New Project Veritas Sting Video Targets New York Times' EditorThe "gatekeeper" of the Times' online public library says that he knows James Comey not through working on campaigns, but through a family connection -- James Comey is actually his godfather. But he didn't tell the Times about that, because he didn't want to get recused from stories about James Comey. However, when asked for comment later (I assume), he says that's not true, and just said it because it's a "good story." He worked on social media for Obama in 2008 and 2012, and Hillary Clinton in 2016. Now, of course, he works for the New York Times. He also seems to mock the concept of "objectivity," saying "I will be 'objective'" with actual air quotes. He also claims to have "used to be an antifa punk" and claims to have punched a "lot of Nazis." He also claims that he joined antifa for the FBI, to gather intelligence as an informant. I'm not sure if this is something or not -- his family says they don't even know James Comey. I don't know if he figured out this was a Project Veritas sting early and began making up stuff to embarrass them, or if he was initially candid and then figured it out and started making up stuff, or what. A digest/transcript of this strange video is here.Comments(Jump to bottom of comments)1

>>>Basically, Jack Straw reassured me that drywall anchors would pretty much hold stuff so I'm not sweating that the additional L-brackets aren't drilled into the studs. So I'm just using shorter screws to hold them near (though not in) the stud.
I figure that'll be okay because most of the force is going down, not pulling out from the wall, and the're just additional support anyway. The drywall anchors supposedly hold 75 pounds or something each, and I have four on each shelf, so, even assuming the 75 pound rating is overstated, I think it'll be okay. Just screw the shelves in to the studs w/ the brackets. Sheetrock anchors really aren't designed to hold up shelves with weight on them.
Depends on the anchor and arrangement of shelves. I personally would not do that, but I have the tools to go into most any material. Look up a Walldog anchor by Powers fasteners. Little more than a screw but good for between 60 and 90 pounds shear - that is code approval. Key will be pullout and that will depend upon the arrangement of the shelving brackets on the wall and the location of the fasteners relative to the bracket. Shelves are primarily a static load so if the anchor bites, and it is not overloaded, he should be fine. Dynamic load, such as the toilet paper dispenser mentioned above (which for some strange reason people use as a grab bar) is another matter. Posted by: Harry Paratestes at October 10, 2017 07:12 PM (wmaTe) My husband, son and I nearly died from carbon monoxide while living in Chicagoland. I'm not kidding. We had just had the furnace inspected, the day before we were to host the neighborhood Christmas party. I felt dizzy and nauseous in the wee hours of the morning, and little D'oh Boy woke us up saying he felt dizzy and sick. Long story short, the furnace had a yuge flaw that filled the house with carbon monoxide. Son got up, passed out, hitting his bathroom door. I literally crawled on my hands and knees across the landing to the bathroom, and husband handed me the phone and said to call 911. I couldn't operate the phone. We were all rushed to the hospital, and were told son and I had just a few more minutes before we would have been "unsaveable." Had a new furnace installed by a different company that night. The old company had the balls to use us in a flyer saying, "Don't let this happen to you!" We made the cover of the local papers and the local TV news. It was a nightmare. I get pretty picky about drilling into studs. I always fear missing the center by too much and ending up with a lag screw stuck in the side of the damn thing, half (or less) in and half (or more) out. I use an electronic finder and a magnetic finder and still freak out. I hate spackle and paint because I can't match the finish perfectly, so I don't drill holes and feel around with wires to 100% zero in on the center of the stud. I shouldn't care because the holes will be hidden by whaever I'm hanging (usually a TV, which I do not want falling due to an off center lag screw that basically destroyed the stud I was going to depend on) and if it is that damn important for me to have stability, why in the hell don't I make certain of it all?

My wife's workplace (small dental office next to a dricleaner) had a CO scare from a malfunction of equipment that was installed outside of code. The dricleaner was shut down until they could make repairs. They never did reopen. almost cost six lives(all dental employees). 5 went to hospital that day.

Like they are now just as bad as Trump. The response seems to be disgust with all of them, with small pockets of people still trying really hard to excuse this star or that as not knowing more than rumors. You have to remember that Hollywood has also recently had to deal with an "everyone knew about Bill Cosby" scandal, as well as one of their favorite feminist men - Joss Whedon - who pressured actresses in his tv shows to sleep with him and then used his (unwitting) supportive wife and feminist activism as cover. Actual construction rarely works out that well. Fastener schedules are ignored, supplies are damaged, studs are poorly installed, fasteners over-driven...it's not textbooky at all.

Ace, on the shelving thing: the top screws actually have tension force on them.
A load placed on the shelf tries to pry the bracket off the wall. The prying places tension in the top anchor and pushes the bottom of the bracket against the wall. It's still possible that the drywall will hold--there are lots of shelves installed like that. I would just not put a fishtank on the shelf and then sleep under it.
