Harvey Weinstein statement - curious line:
"I appreciate the way I've behaved with colleagues in the past has caused a lot of pain." WTF - though "appreciate" may be used to mean "recognize" or "fully understand", my first read of that line alerted my Spidey sense and interpreted it as the more common usage of "admire" or "treasure" or "to be grateful of." If it was me, I would use a different word. But this guy obviously is not your run-of-the-mill nice guy; probably finds the interpretation to be both admission of guilt and pleasure in being a Hollywood weasel. As I pointed out two threads ago, this seems like a real document.
A Robert Heffington did graduate from West Point in 97 and his name did appear in a list of names sent to Congress for promotion to LTC. What is shocking in the statement is the insubordination exhibited by Rapone. I would like to see the name of the officer who pointed out Rapone's FB page because that would be corroboration . Hopefully their expert supervisor fellating, and brown nosing skills could be applied to fighting real crimes in those places. For the military. Assign the Army Pentagon senior officers to a new training and tactic development group, where they are all assigned as role players in a combat battalion using today's standard issue equipment . They can all act as privates, NCOs and Officers as they review training and tactics for a year. Their final exam is to go to Nevada and take on the best of the NTC. If they lose, they are retired. Ditto for the Navy, except give them the new Littoral Combat Ships, and Logistical Support vessels. The Airforce? Assign them to ballistic missiles in ND and Montay. Used his airborne badge and CIB as evidence as to this guy being a capable leader (plenty of people get those and many of them are privates), and then said the Army shouldn't ruin his career. Instead they should give him an Article 15 so that he learns his lesson with some extra duty and then continues his career. Apparently no one told the author that Article 15s will kill an officer's career. Not anything to do with Rapone, really, but I hate reading military articles with no understanding of the military. Deli facing backlash after co-owner called Las Vegas shooting 'community outreach'
A Chicago-area deli is facing backlash after one of its owners sent out a tweet in response to the Las Vegas mass shooting, calling it "community outreach." Greg Morelli of Max's Deli in Highland Park, Ill. said he felt "relief" when he heard about the shooting because it took place at a country music concert. "Soon as I heard it was country music, I felt relief. White people shooting white people isn't terror ... it's community outreach. #LasVegas," Morelli's tweet read. http://tinyurl.com/ydd3gjuh Posted by: Tami at October 05, 2017 05:51 PM (Enq6K) 284

I guess you can see that way, or you can see it: a man trying to hit a ball coming at him at 95 mph with a fraction of a second to decide whether to swing or not. There's a man in scoring position. The game can be won or lost with one swing of the bat. If he's a really good hitter he's got a 30% chance of hitting it. I like my way of seeing it better. It's much more fun. There are certainly boring games, or innings, but baseball can go from boring to intensely exciting in a matter of seconds. People who understand and love the game watch it for those moments. It takes more than one officer saying you have a bad attitude to get kicked out of West Point. There is a whole process. (Unless you had some bad think like women are different than men or something - that shit will get you an immediate bus ticket.) Being a Marxist when the Soviet Bear was staring at us over the commander's hatch of his main battle tank - very easily translatable to supporting the enemy, or not supporting the values of the Army. Being a Marxist in the days where a full on Socialist could be elected President of the US - harder to put someone out of the service over that. I am not saying that CDT Commie was A-Okay - but it is apparent that USMA took the easier wrong here (if you know the Cadet Prayer, choosing the harder right over the easier wrong is fundamental. They should have put him out. That would have taken more effort than to let him graduate and pass him on. Posted by: blaster at October 05, 2017 06:01 PM (jHrzU) 344

Greatest contrast in the "boring to watch/not boring to play" category has to be water polo.
To watch? Unbearable. Slow. Methodical. 80% of action out of view (under water), just a blizzard of ref's whistles and flags, and splashes most of the time. Olympics is no better than high school or NCAA (to watch). But to play, not much room for boredom. 100% effort at all times (you're, um, swimming), no quiet right field duty as in a casual softball league, no cruising half your shift as in hockey.
