NFL Ratings Drop Again; Another Major Advertiser Cancels Ad Buy

Bye-bye.

Meanwhile, Outkick the Coverage quotes Disney president Bob Iger on why Jemelle Hill was not suspended for her outrageous political claims, even though Curt Schilling was fired for his: because she was just expressing what she "and ESPN were feeling."

[IGER:] "We need to take into account what Jemele and ESPN were feeling during this time."

Wasn't Curt Schilling expressing what he was feeling?

When Linda Cohn was suspended for saying ESPN was alienating viewers with its frequent leftwing political drama, wasn't she expressing what she was feeling?

Ah, I see: Jemelle Hill was expressing what ESPN itself was feeling, as a corporate entity, in addition to what she was feeling. Iger says so -- it was what Jemelle Hill and the entire corporation ESPN were "feeling" at the time.

Confirmed: ESPN is by self-definition a left-wing sports and politics organization, and less and less with the politics.

15 If anyone noticed, the NFL made a huge effort this past weekend to make sure all the players were standing and not sitting.

Still didn't stop espn from searching out the one player sitting Monday night, and of course, a couple of his teammates trying to make sure that the cameras didn't catch him sitting.

That's a cultural appropriation of table top football.

We used to play that in high school when I was a student a couple years ago. You fold up a piece of paper in a triangle shape and then slide it back and forth. You either score a touchdown by having it stop with part hanging over or you turn the ball over and the other guy slides it back at you trying to score.

You'll be hearing from my lawyer.

you cards fans are like Yankees fans - so spoiled! If I didn't watch the playoffs because my team wasn't in the mix, I would never watch them. Actually, it's a bit relaxing to just sit back and enjoy the skill of players on both sides when you are not emotionally committed to one team. 224 Sports related:

Our management team at work is highly disliked by a majority of the employees. To improve morale, the management team decided to organize a softball team.

They had their first practice a few days ago. The manager who is the most disliked and least respected was running to catch a fly ball and heading right towards the fence.

Not a single teammate warned him the fence was there or said a thing. He went facefirst into it and sprained his ankle.

I'm sure I'm going to hell by thinking that is incredibly funny.

236 An argument can be made that the massive success of The Super Bowl is what ultimately led to the NFL's undoing--if that's what we are witnessing .
By seeking ever greater viewership and the MONEY that goes with it, the NFL now had to play by the politically-correct media culture's rules. It had to water down the product in order to appeal to women and also allow itself to be hijacked as a vehicle to "raise awareness" for things having nothing to do with football--such as breast cancer.

Now it's become a bulletin board for grievances and politics.

In seeking a bigger spotlight for their product, they painted a bigger target on their back.

355 There is a former liberal turned conservative, Evan Sayet, who I wasn't familiar with. But someone posted a quote this 9/11 about how he got a wakeup call after 9/11/2001 by viewing the reactions of his fellow liberals. I think this in some way mirrors the wakeup call football fans are getting by seeing what the owners, players, broadcasters all think of them.

====
I tell a story. It's not a true story, but it helps crystallize my thinking that brought me to become a conservative. I say: Imagine being in a restaurant with an old friend, and you're catching up, and suddenly he blurts out, "I hate my wife." You chuckle to yourself because he says it every time you're together, and you know he doesn't hate his wife; they've been together for 35 years. He loves his daughters, and they're just like her. No, he doesn't hate his wife.

So you're having dinner, and you look out the window and spot his wife, and she's being beaten up right outside the restaurant. You grab your friend and say, "Come on, let's help her. Let's help your wife," and he says, "Nah, I'm sure she deserves it." At that moment, it dawns on you: He really does hate his wife.

That's what 9/11 was to me. For years and years I'd hear my friends from the Left say how evil and horrible and racist and imperialistic and oppressive America is, and I'd chuckle to myself and think, "Oh, they always say that; they love America." Then on 9/11, we were beaten up, and when I grabbed them by the collar, and I said, "Come on, let's help her. Let's help America," and they said, "Nah, she deserves it."

I have 2 of them in my set up.

Though honestly it depends on what you want it for. I'm sure it can handle youtube and netflix ok. You'll probably have to make sure your motherboard actually has monitor connections.

The funniest scene of any sitcom, IMHO: in the Odd Couple, Oscar is trying to be nice to Felix. He makes him orange juice. Felix says "I don't like pits in my juice", and proceeds to spit out some pits. That night Oscar has a nightmare in which Felix is screaming at him "I DON'T LIKE PITS PITS PITS! IN MY JUICE JUICE JUICE!" and he rolls up a newspaper, sleepwalks into Felix's bedroom and beats him over the head with it.
