Is This Something? George Foreman Challenges Steven Seagall to MMA Fight

The fight we didn't know we needed until Foreman dreamed it up watching Under Siege on TNT. You know, where they blur Erika Eleniak's boobs.

People like Joe Rogan (I think) and his guests say Steven Seagall actually can fight. (Well, with some caveats. Well, looking back, maybe he doesn't respect Steven Seagall or aikido at all.)

Steven Seagall hasn't responded yet.

Yeah I put that in there to get you excited but that's a parody account responding. Seagall himself hasn't responded.

He should, though. Damn, I'd pay to watch that.

Foreman, sadly, specified "No weapons," which means we won't get to see Seagall's Zen shooting abilities:

Update: Rob Schneider tells some Steven Seagall stories, like that time he became a real deity. (Seriously -- said the Dalai Lama conferred deity status on him.)

Then there was that time Steven Seagall decided that, being a deity and all, he couldn't kill people in an action movie. He announced this the first day of filming. This sort of created problems given that the script involved him killing a whole bunch of people.

I heard there was more to that story than what's in the clip. I heard that Steven Seagall ad-libbed lines later in the filming about not killing that guy, which wound up making no sense, because they edited the movie to make it look like he killed him, but whatever, no one was watching Steven Seagall movies by that time anyway.

My son loved the happy impersonation I did where I used George Foreman's Grill pitch voice to say, "Hi, George Foreman here sometimes you have to deal with unhappy customers...when that sad event happens I like to hit that f**ker in the nose so hard he loses involuntary muscle control and sh*ts himself!"

Thing is....it ain't hard to imagine.

To say Seagal's put on a lot of weight over the past 15+ years (he slimmed down a bit for "Exit Wounds") is quite an understatement. He should now remake Out for Justice as Out for the Buffet.

There's other reasons than budgetary why Seagal only has close-up shots during his fight scenes for most of his Eastern European releases these days.

Seagal vs Foreman:

No matter who wins, we lose.

Posted by: Depends at October 03, 2017 08:40 PM (2wRtc)

160 these are two old men that should not be taking any more punches ...

seems like a per-arranged publicity stunt .. but OK ... let's see.
Seagall probably has skills ... Foreman has raw power and a real champ within boxing rules ...
if either really landed blows ... they may be too old to handle it.

speaking of celebrity fighters. ... I watched "Boone the Bounty Hunter" last night

kinda "campy" if that's the right word ... but fun. Mexican village rises up against their drug cartel mob boss ... no one loses their head, goofy fighting, but he is a TV star ... so supposed to be goofy.

Shit just got real, when they go to Mexico .. except it never really gets real. Fine by me, I know enough about the head choppers that butcher good people to maintain the cartel control.

Oh, I was getting there. On Deadly Ground was after Under Siege and it ensured that would be Seagal's apex after Under Siege - essentially, On Deadly Ground was Seagal's vanity project that he could only do on the back of Under Siege's success.

IIRC, that ending scene where Seagal beseeches us to save the environment was supposed to be 7-10 minutes long. And there's also a scene where Seagal kills an unarmed baddie (Dr. Cox from "Scrubs") and a secretary who were just trying to run.

I dunno what Michael Caine did wrong to be cast as da Evil Oil Barron, but even Seagal knew that he couldn't just beat an aging Brit in a fist-fight.

What makes this scene sadistic are two things a) Seagal beats the dude down way more than needed to drive the point home that you shouldn't beat down on others and b) Seagal's characters are always perfect and nigh-invincible (save for Executive Decision), so the guy didn't even have a chance.

Seagal made a couple of really good movies and a few decent ones ... but one of the cable channels was running a Seagal marathon the other day. I couldn't believe how many movies that guy has been making. Movie after movie after movie ... I guess he was keeping them secret for some reason. There must have been hundreds of them. I know Pelosi said that he made 23,000 movies but I really think it was only in the hundreds.

I saw a few that I had never heard of. They were workable. One thing's for sure, Seagal knows how to put hot chicks in his flicks. That never hurts.

Just looked it up, and by golly, Cherokee has only one third person singular pronoun. Kind of like Finnish and Estonian. Of course, they also forced the women to stay alone in a hut while menstruating and had strict gender roles....

Also, they had no words for brother or sister. Instead, they have a word meaning "sibling of the same sex as I" and one meaning "sibling of the opposite sex as I." Different way of conveying exactly the same info....

Bump firing is a technique. Bump Fire Stocks are for people too lazy or too uncoordiated to get the technique down. I can make my semi-auto RPK sound almost like a real one and I don't have any "bump fire" nothing on it.

320 Hmmm, so I'm back, I guess.

Should I even spend the time to understand what a Bump Fire stock is, and how it works? I kinda need to review my semi-auto basics, I'm always forgetting the details on open-bolt vs. closed-bolt machine guns, and blow-back vs. other kinds of actions, and now that I think of it, even how "bump fire" works.

And then I'll have to go over all the AR basics again when I finally get down to ordering a barrel and trigger group etc. to build my first one. Hmmm, will prices bump up again, briefly, due to LV? I remember thinking - and people talking about - "no more gun panics", thanks to you-know-who being in the WH.

Guess we'll see (I'm betting on nothing stupid being done, despite the wails of the ignorant authoritarians and the emotional airheads in their millions).

Well, it has been written in many places that people whose languages lack words for things can't even think of those things because they have no words to express the thought.

Which explains why American Indian Tribes never went to the moon. They had no words for space shuttle, rocket, or space travel. Couldn't even talk about it, or even think about it, unless they were talking about riding giant turtles.

A "bump fire stock" is a stock designed to aid in bump firing. "Bump firing" is a way to greatly increase the trigger release and re-pull rate to get close to, and sound like a fully automatic fire.

It uses the recoil to pull the assembly away from the trigger finger, releasing the trigger, the spinging back and allowing the finger to push the trigger again.

Rather than cycling the trigger finger, you let the whole rifle move back and forth, and can go much faster.

That's all it is. I remember someone saying the fire rate sounded too slow for an automatic M-16/similar from the audio of that mess. Bump fire explains it.

You can be sure that all bump-fire stocks will be banned soon. Now, whether they will try to confiscate existing ones out there, I don't know.....

420 Russian didn't have a word for "train station". So they just used the name of the first big one there delegation of technology-thieves - er, emissaries sent to explore wondrous foreign inventions - visited.

Vauxhall. So, in Russian, train station is "vokzal" (vog-ZALL).

Of course it works in all directions. English is famous, and powerful, for adopting new and foreign things and words, easily.

For example - "Gleichschaltung". No, not on the lips of everyone you meet, but certainly apt for today's America - the Nazi term for bringing all of German society into compliance with the ruling ideology, by force, eventually, if needed.

424 Of course, not having *written* words for anything, their "history" is a bit sketchy.

They did have a kind of pictorial history, the "winter counts." Which is why we know that the current Lakota tribal tradition that they always lived in the Black Hills from time immemorial is only about a 100 years old, and that in the 19th century they claimed to have moved there in 1776. The earlier tradition was probably close to accurate - they did move there sometime in the 1760s or 70s, which means that the US has owned those hills now for longer than the Lakota ever owned them.

They will get very pissy if you point that out, though.

431 publius, thanks - great explanation for "bump fire".

"Slam fire", I think, is (unwanted) automatic firing of a sem-auto like an M1, with a floating firing pin, as the bolt slams into a round that's just been chambered. Is a pump shotgun that will fire on the "pump" (like a trench-broom, forget the model no.) also an example of slam fire? Trigger isn't involved.

Dang. Now I'm gonna go have to review open- and closed-bolt MGs, and blow-back vs. whatever for pistol actions.

439 Czar Peter - now THERE's an observation of practical relevance for me.

Obviously I don't care about "full-auto" capability, but I do vaguely recall that the AR bolts come in 2 varieties (?), and perhaps now (for absolutely no good reason other than scratching America's incredibly stupid "feel like you're doing something" itch), the one type will be "banned".

Maybe I'll just order one from AIM this week. Not real twisted around the axle about small differences, mostly just want one that will last and be easy to clean.

440 Yeah, I'm enjoying talking about Native American history, even if no one else is reading

There's no question white men jobbed over the natives hard and often in American history. The problem is, the natives were cruel, awful, murderous, treacherous, and lying toward their own kind and whites as well. For every atrocity the white settlers committed against the natives, they did at least one to the settlers.

The difference is, Native Americans lost, and lost big because they were stone age scattered tribes against gunpowder age united whites. So long, tribes. And that makes them the sympathetic underdog to many: the oppressed other. So their evil deeds and crimes are swept under the rug.

And nobody sweeps harder than the native American. They will lie, lie, lie about their heritage, past, treatment, etc. And its stupid, because they have enough to complain about. But hearing them talk, no native ever did anything bad at any time, they were saintlike in total communion with their surroundings and peaceful heroes who told no lies and always kept their word.

442 >> Now I'm gonna go have to review open- and
>> closed-bolt MGs

With an ooen-bolt, the firing pin is fixed to the bolt. Loading and locking the cartridge in the chamber and firing is all one mechanical operation. In the "ready fire" position, the bolt is back and thus "open".

In closed-bolt. The firing pin is separate and movable. The bolt loads and locks a round in, but it does not fire until a hammer drives the firing pin. In the ready to fire position, the bolt is thus closed. Hence, "closed bolt".

Now, open bolt designs are easier to convert to fully auto, if they make semi-only versions. Way, a buddy of mine had something that was open bolt semi, and they discontinued it, and converted to closed bolt for that reason.

It would've been ridiculous to convert because the mechanical fire rate would've been so high it would be uncontrollable and dangerous. I forget what the hell it was. One of those little "Uzi" like things that fired 9mm, IIRC.

443 WHen I was a little boy living in New Mexico, the local Navajo worked hard to build a dam so they could have power to their local reservation. Then the government discovered uranium on the land. So they just... took it. There wasn't even any legal action. Its ours now. F off, redskin.

Natives have a lot to complain about, without making up false history and claiming to be utterly sinless and perfect. I've heard Apaches swear up and down they never tortured any captive, no sir, always treated them with total respect that won them over. Geneva Convention ain't in it.

446 publius, excellent - better explanation than some I've read in articles on the topic (open and closed bolt MGs).

Posted by: rhomboid at October 03, 2017 10:07 PM (QDnY+)

447 457: You mentioned soemthing about the AR-15 bolt and full auto.

In a closed-bolt design, the bolt much close and lock, but the hammer must be held back and not released until the bolt is closed. If you just let the hammer "ride", it won't work. And if you get the hammer release delayed, but not enough, things can be dangerous.

You can look you the M-16 full auto mechanism, and what the selector switch does.

The bolt had a channel machined a certain length, but that stopped. That "stop" would catch the "auto sear" mechanism (IIRC is the term), to release the hammer at the right time.

AR-15s used to come with the same bolt, but they made them change it, and extend the channel all the way to the end of the bolt so it wouldn't work with an auto-sear, if one managed to install one.

I ain't about to put any detailed instructions on what is involved (and I can't remember it by rote) but any competent machinist or anyone with capable of performing such skills can do it.

It's just not something easy to do without some machining equipment.

Very well said. This idea of "innocent natives" is BS.

When settlers came here the predominate Indian influence was the Sauk and the Fox, & allied tribes in N IL.

Guess what, their history was...driven out of Ontario by other Indians warring against them, then settling in MI.

Driven out by Indians to N WI. Then driven out by Indians to N IL and IA.

Yah sure, they were peaceful folks until the white guys came along.
