Sheryl Atkisson: Looks Like Obama Spied on Trump Just Like He Spied on Me

A pattern of using pretexts to spy on problematic American citizens.

Many in the media are diving deeply into minutiae in order to discredit any notion that President Trump might have been onto something in March when he fired off a series of tweets claiming President Obama had "tapped" "wires" in Trump Tower just before the election.

According to media reports this week, the FBI did indeed "wiretap" the former head of Trump's campaign, Paul Manafort, both before and after Trump was elected. If Trump officials -- or Trump himself -- communicated with Manafort during the wiretaps, they would have been recorded, too.

But we’re missing the bigger story.

If these reports are accurate, it means U.S. intelligence agencies secretly surveilled at least a half dozen Trump associates. And those are just the ones we know about.

Besides Manafort, the officials include former Trump advisers Carter Page and Michael Flynn. Last week, we discovered multiple Trump "transition officials" were "incidentally" captured during government surveillance of a foreign official. We know this because former Obama adviser Susan Rice reportedly admitted "unmasking," or asking to know the identities of, the officials. Spying on U.S. citizens is considered so sensitive, their names are supposed to be hidden or "masked," even inside the government, to protect their privacy.

In May, former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper and former Acting Attorney General Sally Yates acknowledged they, too, reviewed communications of political figures, secretly collected under President Obama.

Nobody wants our intel agencies to be used like the Stasi in East Germany; the secret police spying on its own citizens for political purposes. The prospect of our own NSA, CIA and FBI becoming politically weaponized has been shrouded by untruths, accusations and justifications.

You’ll recall DNI Clapper falsely assured Congress in 2013 that the NSA was not collecting "any type of data at all on millions or hundreds of millions of Americans."

Intel agencies secretly monitored conversations of members of Congress while the Obama administration negotiated the Iran nuclear deal.

In 2014, the CIA got caught spying on Senate Intelligence Committee staffers, though CIA Director John Brennan had explicitly denied that.

...

Journalists have been targeted, too. This internal email, exposed by WikiLeaks, should give everyone chills. It did me.

Dated Sept. 21, 2010, the “global intelligence” firm Stratfor wrote:

[John] Brennan [then an Obama Homeland Security adviser] is behind the witch hunts of investigative journalists learning information from inside the beltway sources....

The government subsequently got caught monitoring journalists at Fox News, The Associated Press, and, as I allege in a federal lawsuit, my computers while I worked as an investigative correspondent at CBS News....

She then recounts her own fight against hacking, and her lawsuit against the government, with our government fighting against her. She says the keylogger software used to hack her is federal government proprietary software.

It recalls what Daniel Greenfield wrote at Townhall: Once you start spying illegally, you have to keep spying illegally, because now you have to keep yourself out of jail.

Meanwhile, Don Surber tries to figure out why the We Bugged Trump story was leaked to CNN -- was it planted by an anti-Mueller hand trying to get Mueller in trouble, or a pro-Mueller hand trying to help him?

He thinks it's the latter.

Ben Domenech has some questions of his own. Remember, the wiretap was removed when the evidence it produced was "not conclusive," then it was re-applied for.

5. When was the wiretap renewed? On whose orders was the request made, and what new justification was involved?

6. If the evidence contained within the conversations the government wiretapped were indeed "not conclusive" about acts of collusion, as two sources tell CNN, why was the wiretap renewed (presuming that was the case) after Manafort left the campaign? Was it investigating the same activity, or new ones?

7. This was a 2014-based investigation given Manafort’s activity on behalf of a Vladimir Putin-friendly political party in Ukraine at the time. Back in April the Podesta Group revised their FARA reporting on their involvement in that Ukraine election, when their activity was directed by Manafort. Was the Podesta Group or any of its officials included in any wiretaps in 2016?

...

10. Was any of the justification contained within the application for the wiretap’s renewal dependent on the Steele Memo, whose many claims cannot be substantiated or have been significantly debunked? We know according to prior CNN reporting it was used for approval from a FISA court regarding Carter Page.

...

12. Why did Attorney General Jeff Sessions say there was no basis for Trump’s tweet when it seems clear that in fact someone as senior as Manafort, working and operating within Trump Tower, was indeed wiretapped?

By the way, for those on the SubRight determined to defend CNN and their hero Jake Tapper at every turn, even Clapper is now confessing that sure, maybe Trump was intercepted -- incidentally, of course.

The SubRight defenders of the media and Obama's spy ring are cutting the baloney thinner and thinner to claim that Trump wasn't really surveilled.

So, considering there is no real evidence to convict Manafort, Trump or anyone and that the entire investigation is based on a fabricated dossier (Pisher-gate) and that even if they did have evidence of anything it would be inadmissible since it was obtained illegally, what IS the friggin' end game?

Or is there an end game?

12 My working theory is that the Obamans got stuff directly from the NSA, and then got FISA warrants later to make it look legal.

This would explain the flurry of unmasking at the end of the Obama administration. The unmasking was with respect to prior intercepts. Some may have been "old."

This would have gotten frantic after Trump won but before the Inauguration.

50 Trump's wiretapping tweet was proven 100% by Flynn.

Flynn was in Trump Tower on campaign transition team and his conversation was intercepted AND LEAKED.

There were transcripts. The only way for that to be true is intercepts. Wiretaps.

So it has always been true, and the same people who celebrated Flynn's demise and the transcripts that caused them were also suggesting Trump should be impeached for saying that the Obama admin wiretapped his campaign.

93 See, this is why I don't think Manafort is going to get the Scooter Libby treatment.

Manafort knows a lot of stuff on guys like Podesta and he's got the money and the balls to really start making a stink (he's already called for every intercepted communication the government has on him to be released to the public). He will not "take the fall for the cause" ala Libby.

I think Mueller is releasing this info on Manafort not because he has anything solid he can go after him on, but to (1) keep the story alive in the public's mind and (2) see what, if anything, having this info in the public shakes loose. As to the 2nd point, you'd be surprised how many people will come forward and offer up information when they are reading about it in the press. Like all the other child molestation victims who come forward when a molester gets arrested, etc.

114 Hey, I know; let's investigate what happened in June, 2016!:

On an unknown date in June, the FISA court turns down a request for the first time in many years, a request to wiretap the Trumps. Despite the judge's unprecedented ruling, Lynch wiretapped the Trumps anyway. Lynch realizes she needs more "evidence".

On June 3, Rob Goldstone emails Trump, Jr., using words that seem designed to justify a FISA warrant. A meeting is set up with the lawyer Veselnitskaya, who had been personally granted a special visa parole by Lynch. It would have been rude for Donald Trump Jr. not to talk to her after all the trouble Lynch took to send her over to Trump Tower.

On June 9, the meeting takes place, but there is no opposition research presented as promised, only Magnitsky Act issues.

On June 14, Veselnitskaya appears at the Congressional Hearing with Obama's Russian ambassador.

On June 20, the Hillary/Comey/Steele Dossier alleges Hillary's pee-party twisted hallucinations.

And on June 27, Bill Clinton and Loretta Lynch hold their Tarmac Summit, even though his alleged wife is allegedly under the alleged Lynch/Comey pretend-investigation.

But, hey, sometimes you just don't want to discuss wiretapping the opposing political campaign on the phone.

Somebody might be listening.

177 >>THIS is a prime example of why people are so pissed off at Sessions and his somnambulist DOJ.

Maybe they shouldn't be. Way back in March when all of this started, Sean Spicer, remember him?, was asked point blank at a presser if Trump was going to order his DOJ to investigate this.

Spicer said that Trump, the guy who Sessions works for, wanted Congress and their intelligence committees to investigate this so there could be no claims that he was trying to spin the investigation.

So if people are mad that the DOJ is not investigating this more vigorously, at least publicly, most good investigations aren't done in the media, then they should direct their anger at Trump.

203 So according to Clapper, CNN, various barking seals, etc any Russian "lawyer" or "oligarch" must needs represent Vlad the Impaler directly. And any "associate" of Trump who ever met with such a person must be "colluding" with said Vlad on behalf of DJT.

But any acts by NSA, the UN Ambassador, etc. have presumptively nothing to do with Obama, and multiple acts of surveillance on his campaign both before and after the election are presumptively without political motive.

Well if the only proof of the latter is a presumption of innocence on the part of the Obama Administration's motives and "shut up because secret" (the Clapper defense) well you can smooch my ass and call me Shep.

Methinks that whoever is charged with oversight over FISA has full reason to wade into this hip deep. We need to know what Democrat or Clintonoid contacts were supposedly surveilled due to "Russia Russia" and what the repeated applications for Manifort were all about, at a minimum.

222 What the Obama spies have done was probably technically legal. What will happen is that a law will be passed making such things illegal in the future. Because if they don't make it illegal, PDT can say "Thank you for making us aware of those loopholes. We will be sure to abide by the law."

The Obamaites are like the initiators of a fight in the NFL- the retaliators get caught and penalized.

However, there is nothing to prevent the indolent DOJ from going after them for even minor violations. Subject them to stress and legal expenses like the most respected Mueller is inflicting on Trump supporters in his phony investigation.

It should be sufficient for most of the NFL millionaires to simply be reduced to the job prospects they would have otherwise. I'm not sure how well they'd do at burger slinging, but that's hardly my fault.

Of course they'll all be replaced by robots within fifteen years, but that's not my fault either...

I like the owls. If you had livestock I'd worry about a loose dog.
A friend of mine killed his neighbors dog because it kept killing his sheep. He asked the neighbor to control the dog or else he was going to kill it. He killed the dog and brought it to the neighbors house and gutted the dog and pulled the wool out of its stomach in front of the neighbor.
Never had a problem with the neighbors dogs again.

It makes me kind of sad because it was the owner, not the dogs fault.

That means in order to get a FISA warrant from a judge on Manafort they would have had to convince a judge that Manafort was working with the Russians to plan an attack that was about to happen (that doesn't include Facebook ads).

The briefing room was evacuated as a precaution, and was the only part of the White House evacuated, according to White House Spokesman Josh Earnest.
Reporters and producers were quickly herded out of the complex into an auditorium in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building across the street.
The president, who was in the Oval Office during the evacuation, was not relocated, Earnest said. The first lady, Malia and Sasha Obama were in the residence and also remained in place.
Earnest was moved to his office down the hall from the briefing room during the evacuation.
The determination to evacuate the press briefing room was made by the on scene Secret Service commander, who limited the evacuation to that room "due to the specific nature of the threat," the agency said in a statement.
Agents sweeping the briefing room used bomb sniffing dogs, and covered or turned down all network TV cameras positioned inside the room.

- they only made the reporters leave and they couldn't take their bags laptops with them.

283 >>As I've mentioned previously, he appears to be weakening in office. Either he misrepresented his skillset and platform or The Swamp has already broken him into ineffective figurehead. Or both.

I'm far from a Trump groupie but if I had a nickel for every time someone had said "Trump has really screwed up this time" over the last 8 months, well I'd have a shitload of nickels.

Just because this isn't proceeding at either the pace or the public nature you want I wouldn't assume nothing is happening.

Do you remember what happened at the very beginning of this investigation? Devin Nunes was briefed by two White House aides, not DOJ aides or Congressional aides or even FBI aides but White House aides, about surveillance of Team Trump during and immediately after the election. This happened in March and as it turns out these were two senior level intelligence aides working at the White House. In other words, for Trump. In what world do you think Trump doesn't and because of his access to intel has known for quite some time what we are just finding out right now?

This is what led to Nunes recusing himself from the Russia investigation over claims that he was tainting the investigation by getting briefed by the White House. See the problem here with the White House being seen to be directly involved in the investigation? Same thing that happened with Sessions and the Russia investigation. Perhaps the Trump White House learned a lesson about politics in DC.

Your conclusion is only correct if it turns out that nothing ever comes of this and we never hear from Trump or the DOJ on this issue. There is exactly zero reason that they need to be involved right now, its unraveling right before our eyes as we speak. Maybe not as fast as we want, this is DC we are talking about, but it is indeed happening.

Trump has a pretty good track record of making people who doubt that he knows what he's doing look foolish. I think he's earned a tad of slack on this one. Let's see what happens.

303 >>He caved almost immediately when the dems demanded
he recuse himself. He's certainly not going to do anything even
tangentially related to Russia-OMG-Russia-OMG-Russia. This is exactly
what the dems wanted, and they got it. He was effectively neutered by
the party not in power.

I guess we are just going to have to get used to having an Attorney General who follows the law. A new concept after the last 8 years but that's why we aren't liberals.

304 Are you in my state?

As Trump said, they are sending their us their best and brightest.

Nah, across the country in Pennsylvania, where a lot of Cali transplants are heading.

Not in this case, though. I can't reveal the sum total of my knowledge of this 'marriage' but I had an A-A friend (who perhaps had some pimp propensity) and expressed it best in the phrase, 'He got robbed'.

305 302 Or is there an end game?
Posted by: J.J. Sefton at September 21, 2017 04:56 PM

I have been trying to figure out what it is.
A) Keep the pressure on to keep the pressure away
B) Knowing nothing is going to happen to them so why not slip into the beginning of totalaterizim
C) Thats what Leftists do by course and trade

307 Anyone remember Obama threatening banks and Wall Street to go along to get along by telling them he is the only thing standing between them and pitchforks?

We thought Occupy Wall Street were the pitchforks but now it's obvious that Antifa are the pitchforks.

Wall Street and the banks took note, we didn't and had the temerity to elect Trump. That's why the mindless violence machines are now trained on conservatives.

Academia think they can use the attack dogs for their own purposes not realising that rational people don't send their kids where they could be bitten by rabid dogs.

309 I think Trump knows everything. I also think so many dimes are being dropped that the demopublicans are shitting their pants. As Joe Biden might say...."this is a big fucking deal"
Posted by: c6dave at September 21, 2017 06:09 PM (6Pf5l)

The part about the Trump "wiretapped" tweets that people leave out is that it starts with "Just found out".

The second I read that I thought "So Trump just saw the FISA warrant and the resulting take". That wasn't speculation. That was a definitive statement of having discovered something.

My wish in all of this is that Trump has all the documents lined up in a row and is waiting for Mueller to make some kind of public statement rather than all this improper, if not illegal, leaking crappola and then Trump does an Oval Office speech where he puts each and every document on screen.

A girl needs her dreams.

310 Apparently some people are more attractive to mosquitoes than others. I'm not sure of the exact reason.

After I had my CABG II, I got prescribed a bunch of medicine I've never had to take before. Skeeters leave me alone now, for the most part.

Yes, let's lose with dignity. That'll keep the future generations warm when everything else has been stripped from them.

313 Obama was right to do what he did. All of the greatest political philosophers throughout the ages would agree. Vaclav Havel and Nelson Mandela, for examples, have much to offer contemporary political thinking, and they spent years in prison as political prisoners.

Other authors have penned their thoughts while in prison. "Prison Notebooks" is good, but "My Struggle" is probably the best. It's a thoughtful read. Go ahead, put aside your preconceptions and read it. It's thoughtful and stuff!

316 Even here in Orange County California we have 5 cities that have mosquitoes that are carrying third world disease.

Posted by: Tinfoilbaby

Orange County is the home of the religious equivalent of the GOPe: Rick Warren. How is that bloated, goateed phony doing? Have people wearied of his schtick yet? What is his latest compromise?

Last I looked, I am winning. Bigly.

I know this place thrives on misery and defeat but it's ok to admit we kicking the shit out of the left on a daily basis. Maybe not as fast as you want but winning is happening.

320 1. Congress goes into recess.
2. Sessions Mueller go missing.
3. Recess appointment.
4. Giggle like a hyena high on nitrous.

Posted by: Your Decidedly Devious Uncle Palpatine

ha, whoever has to show up to technically keep the senate out of recess, has a couple flat tires ... in the two hours it takes to get them there ... 48 recess appointments are made.

321 Obama did NOT spy on Trump. The God damned PIGS spied on Trump. But keep on suckin' that pig dick, bro! I see that you prefer your coffee and donuts filtered.

God damn every pig in this country to hell where they belong. And God damn their filthy whores.
