Since I conjured the ONT's appearance (thanks as ever MisHum), I'll re-post this from the end of the last thread -
No, "illegal alien" is better. Foreign national is correct, but ambiguous, since one can have legal status, or not. blaster I'm almost allowing myself to believe that the Mueller idiocy will indeed blow up, to encompass the astounding surveillance story. Almost. But recall: there is no press, there is barely a GOP/WH "party" in the Beltway, the judiciary (and most of DOJ) are not professional, have no integrity, and get to play to an unbelievably dumbed-down populace (the only sort that wouldn't laugh/jeer the whole Mueller investigation concept into oblivion from the get-go). Oh, Sessions mumbling and mewling in Portlandia about "sanctuary" crap. I am at the point where I think nobody in the administration actually understands how the government works, how appropriations work, how Congress exercises its control over policy. And they are pretty dim, or don't care, about their immigration/rule of law agenda. Because they've done almost nothing about it, despite many tools sitting there on the table in front of them, and the political wind (more like a gale) at their back. "I'm almost allowing myself to believe that the Mueller idiocy will indeed blow up, to encompass the astounding surveillance story. Almost." "Posted by: rhomboid at September 19, 2017 10:06 PM (QDnY+)" This, with Comey and the entire DNC/MSM et al, is the most far reaching case of projection I think I've ever seen. "During Mr. Browder's testimony the origin of the Fusion GPS 'Russian Dossier' was discussed. Browder stated the Russian government actually paid Fusion GPS to create the Steele propaganda dossier on candidate Donald Trump. That same dossier was used by the FBI in June/July 2016 to generate the FISA surveillance warrants against the Trump campaign. FBI Director James Comey was using propaganda commissioned by Russia, funded in part by the FBI, to attack Trump, as the framework to launch his FBI investigation into candidate Donald Trump and Russian collusion. Expanding the reality from that testimony. This means the Russian collusion narrative the U.S. media has been running with for a year to attack Trump, was actually factual collusion between Russia and the the U.S. FBI, via James Comey." http://tinyurl.com/y7kcteja Posted by: geoffb at September 19, 2017 10:35 PM (zOpu5) 192

Got my fan going in the window. It's mom's fault. Forced me to take band in 7th grade. "Fine. I'm going to play drums." One other pancake point: the syrup should be warm. Also, if REAL maple syrup is not available (yes, such horrors do happen) warm some honey until it has the consistency of warm syrup and stir in a bit of cinnamon. Much as I love maple syrup, I hate to think of all those bees laboring for nothing.

I like pancakes OK. Prefer waffles. Whenever I eat breakfast out, however, I never order pancakes, or waffles, or French toast. It's always an omelet or a scramble or something eggy, sometimes with bacon or sausage if included, but always with potatoes of some sort.
Cooking at home, it's usually Belgian waffles or Dutch pancakes (sounds similar to Swedish pancakes mentioned upthread), passed on from my mom. Slop some butter on 'em, sprinkle with granulated sugar, roll 'em up and eat 'em. Y'all hush about your sweet grandmas; she probably couldn't afford anything else, and just wanted to be able to give you something.
My maternal g-grandma used to give us all a card, with a little outing of some sort in it "Good for one trip to Tallulah Gorge with just Grandma" I have 81 first cousins on that side, so it was no mean feat. Another boring night at work.
On the bright side, at this time tomorrow night I will be on my way to Vegas. Posted by: Country Boy - CenTexMoMee AmbASSador at September 19, 2017 11:25 PM (D2vc1) Well, I got on the road, late, at 7:20 P.M. Figured I would at least make it to Great Falls. So I get an hour south, and realized I didn't have the dog's vaccination record in the truck with us. Never been asked for them (at the border) on any previous trip, but always carried them. So I drive on to Strathmore, asking myself, "take a chance on it, or no?" "No" won out. I could be back home in an hour, but I was still at least 3 hours from the border. Should I be turned back, it would be a long-ass drive home from there. And there were a couple of other things I remembered I should have loaded. Not deal-breakers, but nice to have. And then one of the mufflers on the 'burb blew out on the trip home. Depending on what blew out, it could be an easy fix, or not. But too loud to drive it that way for 1500 miles. I have some mufflers and pipe on hand here. So I will get up early in the morning, locate the dog's papers, load the other overlooked stuff, and see if I can fix the muffler. And hopefully be on the road before noon. Posted by: Alberta Oil Peon at September 20, 2017 12:50 AM (EkNES) 535

Treet is Armour's competition to Spam and it appears to still be in business. I *think* they carry it in the local grocery stores, but I'm not sure. The texture is a little different than Spam. There's a lot of Armour products, but I'm not sure about Treet. Vienna sausages are just canned wieners. And what's a wiener? A Viennese sausage, eh? In Austrian (heh) Vienna is "Wien".
I like 'em too. And Pogo always gets one. Posted by: Alberta Oil Peon at September 20, 2017 01:23 AM (EkNES) 578
I think Armour is skimping. It's a way to hide inflation, but I think there's one less "Wien" in the cans than there used to be, now. Posted by: publius, the Persistent Poperin Pear at September 20, 2017 01:26 AM (8O3HH) 579

The parting comment by Seth was why I made this post. He said "we could have used that 2 night's ago". (Emmys) And the look on his face said he meant it. It floored me. I had only heard good things about Colbert's hosting & these comedians usually stick together. Not like the Leno/Letterman wars. Maybe he meant other people acting stupid/political & not Colbert. Late night talk show hosts used to understand that their shows and their own roles were to entertain. Period. Now they think their role is to be "deep" and they haven't the chops to accomplish that illusion. Yeah, the smile was unusually human looking ... combined with the purple foil jacket, the effect was disturbing.
Weird hunched-over posture, too. Posted by: sock_rat_eez, we are being gaslighted 24/7 at September 20, 2017 06:50 AM (Umfx1) 675
659 So I was just saying to myself, ya' know, Christmas is in less than 100 day, and I have no idea what to buy myself.
Duh. A new gun. Posted by: rickb223 at September 20, 2017 06:50 AM (FYqfs) 676

It might be that the old late night guys actually had a large quantity of entertaining guests to choose from. Posted by: Bruce at September 20, 2017 06:51 AM (8ikIW) Posted by: Bruce at September 20, 2017 06:52 AM (8ikIW) 678

I bought a $20 ticket for a 25 days of Christmas drawing. Starting Dec 1st through Dec 25th, each day, there is a drawing for a gun. *hic* Posted by: Hillary Clinton at September 20, 2017 06:53 AM (kKwi8) 680
Now they think their role is to be "deep" and they haven't the chops to accomplish that illusion. The people they have hosting these shows are incredible lightweights. Posted by: Mr. Peebles at September 20, 2017 06:55 AM (oVJmc) 681

Off to get my monthly blood draw. And the prizes are no great shakes, either.

Leno was a headliner in Vegas for many years before doing the Tonight Show.
Letterman started in the graveyard slot and worked there for years getting good enough to go earlier. Carson worked for decades before he took over for Paar. You compare these guys to Seth Meyers, Fallon, Kimmel, much less a flack like Colbert, and they just can't meaure up. Humor today is much, much stupider. It takes skill, and writing, to be fairly even-handed. Going partisan is easy, trite. It allows you to be overpraised for empty material by people who already agree with you and just want their opinions stroked. Posted by: Mr. Peebles at September 20, 2017 07:10 AM (oVJmc) 686

I'd like a tall stack of nipples, slathered in nipples, with some nipples on the side. Oh, and coffee.
