Hillary Clinton Pimping "Verrit," A Progressive Rebuttal to the 99.9% Progressive Media

A progressive media bubble for Hillary voters, you say?

Why hasn't someone thought of this before?

What is Verrit you ask? It’s a new social media site bubble created by Hillary’s number one fan Peter Daou. Apparently, what Hillary fans need most is a safe space where they don’t have to worry about outsiders. They need a social media sanctuary. From the site’s announcement page:

With the essence of American democracy at stake, 65.8 million people saw through the lies and smears and made a wise, patriotic choice. But they continue to be marginalized and harassed. Verrit’s purpose is to become their trusted source of political information and analysis; to provide them (and anyone like-minded) sanctuary in a chaotic media environment; to center their shared principles; and to do so with an unwavering commitment to truth and facts.

John Sexton notes that the site is promoted by one of Hilary's more unhinged fanbois, Peter Daou.

The Federalist's Mary Katharine Ham lists six innovations Verrit will bring to today's repressive conservative media environment.

Here are two:

Hair-Trigger Breaking News Push Notifications

Verrit is necessary because there just aren't enough breaking news alerts served to the American public on a daily basis. Sure, you may know that Kate Middleton announced today she is having her third baby, but did you have that information pushed to you on your mobile device 37 times this morning before you'd had coffee? That’s the kind of groundbreaking innovation we’re here to bring you. America deserves it. There is an inspiringly diverse coalition of push notifications unfairly silenced by the lack of representation of breaking news push alerts in media today.

People Who Live in NYC and D.C. and are Uncomfortable With Trump Policies

We knew finding the right talent for Verrit wouldn't be simple. We had to search far and wide in all two of America's cities-- including far-flung boroughs, but not so far we got to Staten Island! Come on, it's a ferry ride.-- to find people brave enough to talk publicly from a liberal perspective about how misogyny, sexism, and racism plague our politics and impact our elections. No one said it would be easy, but we are doing what has to be done, and with your support, we believe we can bring these hidden viewpoints to the fore.

Now if Verrit can only provide bonus opportunities for Hillary Clinton to grift money, it really will be filling some major holes.

As I recall, Pilate was a good conscientious administrator for Rome, and no more corrupt or venal than anybody else Rome had out in the provinces. So that (considering the cartoon characters in DC and in ancient Rome) is a compliment.

Posted by: Wolfus Aurelius

Pilate was governing over a foreign territory. He wasn't governing a population of native Romans. He was a hostile occupying force in Israel. So the comparison is stupid.

If Pilate were a Roman emperor, and then the vandals, Israelites, visigoths, etc. all came to Rome seeking entitlements and Pilate said, "no, that would be robbing the citizens of Rome". Then the comparison would be apt.

But to send children and parents back to their country of origin (or prevent them from coming) is not the same as slaughtering them because you think they might usurp your kingdom (as Hillary might slaughter a political rival).

You could argue, the Democrats are afraid of usurpation, and are the ones behaving like bloodthirsty tyrants, willing to sacrifice their own citizens' lives to hang on to power.

DACA is ended as of today. Enforcement of DACA will not take place for six months. The current DACA signups have until March of 2018 to either have Congress create something to allow them to stay(some kind of super duper green card) or they are all subject to deportation , including their parents who are staying here with them.

Apparently there are 7500 DACA sign ups who were able to get their renewels done early enough that they are not subject to the March 2018 deadline.

I beg to differ. Whatever kind of storm it was eventually determined to be, Sandy wreaked real havoc on the most populous area of the country, caused death and destruction, floods, billions in damages, destroyed the Jersey Shore ( for good, as what's coming back is not what was there before) and kept people without power for many weeks afterward.
If you want to poo-poo Sandy because it happened to hit where the liberal media elite lives, fine. But millions were affected by that disaster who were neither media elite, or even liberal.

of course Mexico and south are largely failed states, now narco/commie banana republics. So they send workers here to send US economic profits back to these corrupt regimes. North Korea does the same with their citizens, sending them as slaves to other countries that send "remittances" back to North Korea.

We educated the dreamers, now they can go home and save their country.

473 I beg to differ.

500 Which was exactly torquewrench's point. It was a middling storm that did a lot of damage because it hit a very heavily-developed area. So there was a lot of shit to break.

Damage in tropical storms keeps increasing because people keep building increasing amounts of shitty structures in areas subject to tropical storms.

I get that, but it's a lot like blaming people who live in trailers that get swept away during hurricanes and tornadoes, a kind of stern moralizing at play as if to say, "well, what do you expect?"

506 So, we pay Gang Members now, in addtion to their welfare payments. We shell out money to illegals in dozens of ways. We support people who never work as they pop out children from their baby daddies. We give free breakfast & lunch, and now we are going to need to feed kids on weekends.

Understand, I feel bad for the kids. But we have a huge morality issue that we can't afford. Half of Hispanics don't even finish high school. Don't get me started on high school drop out rates in general.

But yea, white supremacy and all. You should be paying us.
We deserve it.

508 the main thing about Harvey was the flooding due to the high system that approached right on time to cause Harvey to sit on Houston and the area for days. It was not "the strongest" ... but the rain came down in one place, a flat place more vulnerable to flooding.

The record of hurricane over 15 years is there are fewer of them, so it disproves the warming theories, if it proves anything.

516 There is a phenomena called the Atlantic Multi-decadal Oscillation that affects how many tropical storms form in the Atlantic. Along with Saharan dust storms and solar radiation. Plus other weather systems can kill tropical storms and upper atmospheric winds that can shear off the tops of tropical storms to prevent them from gaining strength.

Negative. Someone who reached Pilate's level and his assignment was a cold, hard, s.o.b. who would not hesitate to crucify someone or put someone's head over the gates to keep things quiet in that province. He had the authority and lurking threat of Rome to support him, but as for actual forces, he didn't have a lot that were 100% Roman. Rome's policy was to run things through local kings and princes using local forces as much as possible with the stipulation they pay Roman taxes and obey Roman law.

The Jews were always a special, touchy case and someone very capable would be sent there to deal with them legally and diplomatically so that it wouldn't become a military problem. The Temple hierarchy wanted the Romans to deal with Jesus so that they wouldn't have their hands sullied. Pilate obliged them, but made certain they well-understood that he was enforcing their law for them, not the laws of Rome. This Jewish doctrinal squabble was going to be kept in the Jewish arena as much as possible and not become a Roman Imperial issue.

Ok, so let's look up the DACA requirements on the DACA page I linked to a couple of threads ago. It has changed in the past hour, reflecting the gov. announcement this morning , but still retains the requirements to be shielded from deportation.

You have to be under the age of 31 as of June of 2012. You must have come to this country before reaching your 16th birthday. You cannot have left this country up until the current date, you must be either enrolled in school, college or are enlisted in the US armed forces and Coast Guard, or have been honorably discharged from said forces, and you either graduated from HS or have earned a GED.

Additionally, you cannot have been convicted of a felony or serious misdemeanor, nor can you have been convicted of three other misdemeanors.
On top of that, you need a present a large cache of documentation of proof of all the above.

My point on this is that people keep making it sound like all the DACA signups are gang banger MS13 threats when they are not. They are still illegals, who were never deported and were actually welcomed and educated in the US school systems, and those who have served in the US military. Because our gov. and particularly Congress has simply refused to make a stand on immigration for years.

I am for lawful immigration. But I am also not a big fan of screwing over a bunch of people to whom the gov has not just turned a blind eye, but has purposefully enticed and encouraged to be here via a totally ignored immigration system.

Let Congress choke on how to fix this.
