On Thursday morning, governors John Kasich (R-OH) and John Hickenlooper (D-CO) released a plan to “stabilize” Obamacare insurance markets. Here’s what you need to know about the details of the proposal. John Kasich Doesn't Want to Repeal Obamacare It's worth repeating that, as recently as three years ago, Kasich said the following regarding the health care law: "From Day One, and up until today and into tomorrow, I do not support Obamacare. I never have, and I believe it should be repealed."A bipartisan plan. Like the "Conservative DREAM Act!" It's both conservative and bipartisan! Are you rubes cheering yet?
Oh, how times have changed. The governors' plan would not only not repeal Obamacare, it would further entrench the law, by giving tens of billions, and more likely hundreds of billions, of new taxpayer funds to wealthy insurance companies. Governors Want Trump to Violate the Constitution The plan calls on the Trump administration to "commit to making cost-sharing reduction payments." But as this space has previously described, the United States has an interesting document--you may have heard of it--called the Constitution. That Constitution places the "power of the purse" with Congress, not the executive. If Congress does appropriate funds--for cost-sharing reductions or anything else--the executive cannot refuse to spend that money, per a prior Supreme Court ruling. But if Congress does not appropriate funds, the executive cannot spend money. To do otherwise would violate a criminal statute. Asking the Trump administration to violate the Constitution may seem like a natural request to someone like Kasich, a big-government liberal who ran into legal trouble for expanding his state’s Medicaid program unilaterally. But our nation is a government of laws, not men, which makes obeying the law an obligation of all citizens, let alone the chief executive.

It's a fucking mess on multiple levels. There are too many plans, so the risk pools never reach anything approaching actuarial consistency. Instead healthy people enroll in a reasonably priced plan until it becomes decent, then the sick people flock to it and it dies. I've seen the collapse of at least 2 plans.
The premiums make absolutely no sense outside of DC or without the federal subsidies. (That's not even an AND statement. Either not being in DC, where healthcare and thus insurance seems to cost more, OR not getting the subsidies makes it stupidly overpriced. So people getting neither would be getting socked twice. Even if you throw in generous subsidies, it's a kick in the pants.)
So yeah. The only thing dumber is Claire McCaskill's "let people buy into the DC exchange!" dumbassery.

As far as getting away from the base, every time somebody sends back a GOP fundraising letter with some nasty note on it the CoC just becomes that much more important to the GOP. I don't know the answer, except for perhaps flooding the local apparatus with like mined people and waiting years for them to move up in the ranks and hope they don't get corrupted along the way.

.$2.48 here in North Texas. Sams in Sherman ran out of gas yesterday at noon. The guy said the tanker was over 4 hours late this morning when I talked to him at 10.
Most Exxon stations here have gas as I think they use another distributor.
The Sam's guy told me something I didn't know. Corporate monitors their gas supply and dispatches trucks based on their computer monitoring. He said they shut the pumps off on him yesterday before they ran below a certain level. And they kept shutting off banks of pumps different times during the day to keep the draw even on all tanks.

This movie has played out before to the end credits in a couple of different places. See, e.g., 1970s Iran. Where the Communists and other leftist blocs teamed up with Khomeini's mullahs and shouting mobs to oust the westernized Shah.
The hard left figured that after the revolution, they'd shunt the ayatollahs onto a siding, the alliance having served its purpose, and then completely secularize the Iranian state. The mobs, merely misguided proletarians, would be brought under Communist control and re-educated.
Instead, Khomeini stole a jump on them, with his newly deputized Islamic religious police arresting the leftists en masse, followed by show trials and liquidations.

Erdogan has continued to extort money from them...otherwise he will allow the immigrant flow to start again.

Did that before. Did see Ithaca Falls (again) on a wine tour. I believe Ithaca has the most waterfalls within 40 miles than any place in the US. What stunned me was the lack of remorse or resistance among the beautiful people of Skaneateles. Its as if NYers finally realized that Obama/Hillary don't really signal virtue.
