Update: Here's the Story Louise Mensa Has Been "Reporting" or Just Retweeting

We are prepared to believe you.

Chuck Ross combs Louise Mensa's twitter feed so you don't have to:

Louise Mensch, a former British parliamentarian, and Claude Taylor, a former Bill Clinton White House staffer, have for months made sensational claims about Trump and the ongoing federal investigations into his campaign and financial dealings.

Note that the New York Times published a Mensa op-ed on "Russian meddling" in the election. I do not think they'd do that for a right-wing conspiracy theorist with a history of making sensational claims about, say, Obama's birth certificate.

But they did it for Mensa.

So here now some of the reportage/retweetings of former Clinton aide Claude Taylor and Ms. Mensa:

Claiming to be an investigator with Schneiderman’s Organized Crime Task Force, “Caitlan” told Taylor that a modeling agency once operated by Trump was the subject of a sex trafficking investigation.

Mensch circulated Taylor’s claims on Twitter, and on Aug. 15 published an article at her website, Patribiotics, claiming that sources within the intelligence community have told her that Trump is being investigated for trafficking underaged girls.

In one email, “Caitlan” told Taylor that Schneiderman’s office had handed down sealed indictments for executives at the Trump Organization, the Trump family’s real estate company.

“I am aware of at least one preliminary sealed indictment in that case targeting multiple Trump Org principals,” reads one email to Taylor, a Washington, D.C.-based photographer who worked in the Clinton White House in the early 1990s.

On July 23, “Caitlan” told Taylor that the Organized Crime Task Force’s investigation was targeting 78 people in an investigation into Russian organization crime, including up to 40 targets in Trump’s orbit.

Taylor shared those false claims on Twitter as well, and Mensch also passed them along to her followers.

On July 26, Taylor passed on a false tip from “Caitlan” that former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani, a Trump confidante, was seeking a plea deal with Schneiderman’s office. The next day, “Caitlan” told Taylor that a money laundering investigation being led by Schneiderman was targeting 15 Russian nationals as well as Trump and his children.

Such specific numbers! Always trust someone's unevidenced, uncorroborated claims if she offers specific numbers. Specific numbers are Science-y and we all love #TheScience.

People may also call it "hearsay".

This sentence contains just about everything wrong with modern media. Mocking "journalists". Idiocy over minutiae. Passive voice "well, some people did this" third-handedness. Unguarded partisan hackery. Implication of a third party to attack the primary. And last, but not least - no mention even for completeness as to *why* she and he were going to Texas.

"Trump has been involved in sex trafficing since mid June of 1999. That's when he had 25 girls under the age of 16 brought in from Eastern Europe, primarily Moldova, where their parents sell them in exchange for goats. The girls were kept in the sub-basement of a now defunct property, and were routinely used as gifts for certain clients. When his low paid staff of illegal aliens demanded raises, he forced the girls to service them. Since then, our documents show that Trump and his sex ring have brought in 1.2 million underage girls. Those still in service are living in soundproofed dungeons under Trump properties (you can see these areas designed as sub-basements in the architectural drawings) while the ones that are too old are serving as maids who have been made mute by having their tongues cut out."

It hurts him on the margins, but it's angering his base, and will increase their turnout in 2018 and 2020.

It amplifies that the Ds have nothing to run on.

Right now, Trump is a Plurality President. But the Ds are on trajectory to fuck themselves. I expect Trump to run against everyone in 2018, including the GOPe, and get better control of the Senate and keep the House. By 2020, Trump will be a majority President.

The chattering classes in the UK are absolutely irrationally obsessed with Trump as the worst person in the entire history of ever.

Mitty -- excuse me, Mensch -- visibly imagines herself as a heroic freedom fighter against this fascist monster. And that it would be a meteoric boost to what was previously a rather obscure personal and career trajectory were she to somehow do him serious damage.

253 Melania Trump is a major quandary for the legacy media. She's beautiful, classy, everything they claimed Michelle Obama was, but was plainly not. She's exotic, from a foreign nation, smart, and dresses amazingly well. In short, she's everything they ought to really be impressed and awed by, gush over, and love. But she's married to Satan McHitler, so they are supposed to hate her too.

I think their brains short out when they see her, and they cannot work out how to approach her or the story. When she comes out being super classy and chic and beautiful to visit people in Houston after a horrendous storm (something Michelle Obama never did), they freak out about her.... shoes? Then they look idiotic because that was just her denouement, her appearance on the stage. She changed to very practical clothes for going out to the storm areas.

She makes amazing entrances and always looks wonderful.

I'm not saying this to be facetious -- it's actually true:

The stupidest person I know is a Mensa member.

A semi-acquaintance of mine is constantly flamboyantly ignorant and uninsightful on every possible topic on on every level if interaction. A straight-up cretin, like someone in a freak show. To top it off, she endlessly mentions how she is a member of Mensa. And that she met her husband there.

THEN I met her husband once. Oh. My. God. He was a smelly dweeb who parroted leftist tropes in a droning mumbling monotone, like this:

"DidYouKnowTrumpIsBeingImpeachedHeIsA CriminalTheRussiansHackedTheElectionDidYou WatchMaddowLastNightSheDestroyedTrumpThisIsANaziNation."

There are a lot of people walking around right now with the combination of Savant Syndrome and high-functioning Asperger Syndrome. They are being mistaken for intelligent because they have a four-lane highway ability to pump shit into their brains and then score perfectly on a test of that material.

Depending on where you are in Europe, your apartment does not come equipped with a kitchen. Oh, there's a room that's called a kitchen and it may have the gas line and the pipes but that's it.

No sink. No stove. No fridge. No range top. Just an empty room with wall and perhaps a faucet sticking out. "Where's the kitchen?" "IKEA".

And, yes, the differences in size of countries does explain much of it. IIRC, you can drive top to bottom of the UK faster than you can drive across just Pennsylvania.

We had an Irish couple over and she was venting about it being a fifth floor walkup (hey, she was only going to be pregnant for another three or four months and it was in a fabulous location) and sundry other complaints and then said "and there aren't even any closets!"

The Irish couple blinked and looked at each other and said "what are closets?"

336 What's really fun is to remind Europeans that Americans think that Europe is just a big blob of Over There.

Yeah, what they mock as ignorance is really just disregard. We don't really care that much. And they are just as ignorant about the USA. What they see on TV, they believe. They think the American south really does look like Southern California. They really think there are klan meetings and lynching going on all the time. They really don't know that Wyoming is a state or that California doesn't stretch the entire west coast of the USA.

Europe is a great place for history and interesting old sites, some really beautiful scenery. The people there are just folks, some are great, some aren't. But they're... the past. And I think deep down, they know it and resent it greatly.

348 Then there's the look on the Americans faces when they find out that you have to buy your kitchen.
Posted by: alexthechick/i]

Up until the '70s in England it was almost universal in British homes that homes had a hot-water heater which was only activated when you put a coin in it. This seems completely insane to Americans, but the British just accepted the system unquestioningly. Water from your tap in your own bathroom or kitchen was always cold unless you pumped coins into the machine to get it running. (These are very small instant-heating units I'm talking about -- big-tank hot-water-heaters didn't even exist over there.) Then once a month the "county council" meter-readers came and emptied the coins out of your heater. The money went into the government coffers.

In fact, I was in England earlier this year and one of the places I stayed instill had one of those coin-operated heaters in it. It was no longer functional, but the owners had never bother to remove it.

Oh hell, the Western states are baffling to Easterners.

We were leaving a family vacation in Montana to catch an airplane in Oregon. There were two completely straight lines running sideways toward Oregon and they were only a half inch apart on the map.

So I says to Mrs. Bander, "hey, can we drive the extra half inch down and stop at Lolo Hot Springs? It's featured in A River Runs Through It and I'd really like to see it.

She says "sure". Then we get to the first sideways line going toward the airport and there's a sign saying "Lolo Hot Springs 120 miles".

428 What about the German toilets with their fecal examination shelf?
Posted by: Grump928(C)

Way back in college I had a professor whose entire specialty was the shit-obsession of the Germanic peoples. He discuss the fecal-examination shelf of their toilets extensively, and had written academic papers about it. (He was a professor in the "Folklore" department, but his specialty was "folk customs."

His theory, propounded in a series of books, is that the "swaddling" techniques used by German mothers from the Middle Ages up through the 19th century has literally altered the entire culture's mindset; the purpose of super-tight "swaddling clothes" was the literally keep the shit in the baby for as long as possible, so you don't have to constantly change diapers. (Cleaning diapers without running water is a nightmare, and the early Germans developed swaddling as a way to "fix" the problem.)

Weird trivia: The only other culture to practice the same type of "wrap-the-baby's body so tightly that it literally can't go shit" technique was the Eskimos.

Luckily, neither the Eskimos nor the Germans still do this to their newborns. But the centuries of swaddling made everyone hyper-obsessed with their own shit. Or so the theory goes.

518 My understanding is that the Krauts have the little poopy shelf so that they can visually examine their excreta for whatever health secrets it contains.

523 The judge in the Palin v. NYT case:

"Nowhere is political journalism so free, so robust, or perhaps so rowdy as in the United States. In the exercise of that freedom, mistakes will be made, some of which will be hurtful to others. But if political journalism is to achieve its constitutionally endorsed role of challenging the powerful, legal redress by a public figure must be limited to those cases where the public figure has a plausible factual basis for complaining that the mistake was made maliciously, that is, with knowledge it was false or with reckless disregard for its falsity. Here, plaintiff's complaint, even when supplemented with facts developed at an evidentiary hearing convened by the Court, fails to make that showing. Accordingly, the complaint must be dismissed."

At the hearing, the editorial writer testified that he didn't bother to learn any facts about the Tucson shooting (including those reported in prior NYT articles), because he was rushing to meet a deadline. Nothing reckless about that, right?

If the NYT tomorrow writes an editorial claiming that this judge caused a bunch of child rapes and murders, that won't be libel, so long as the editorial writer testifies that he was in a hurry, right?

Shibumi's thoughts on her first Euroepean trip:

1. Wow, every city looks the same.
2. The streets are really narrow
3. Don't they build anything new here?
4. Why do the restaurants only have 6 things on the menu, and one of them is horse?
5. What do you mean people don't drive SUVs or pickup trucks?
6. Why is this lady sitting outside the bathroom, and why do I have to pay her?
7. Hahahaha, your entire country has a GDP lower than Alabama and you have less land!
