EMT 08/19/17

A bit of a good story to partially stem all the bad in this world.

Thursday night, I'm driving down from Louisville to home in Tn. Late, but instead of stay the night, I want to beat the race traffic.

It's been raining, and it's foggy, and I'm driving a set of secondary highways through the Cumberland Gap in what I am sure is some amazing scenery on a clear day.

Come off one mtn a little past the Kentucky border into Virginia, and my right headlight goes.

10 minutes later, a Jonesville deputy has the rollers on behind me.

It's 3 a.m. The world is crazy. Your mind can't help but think of all the ways a simple stop can go wrong.

I pull into the first well-lit parking lot I find in their sleepy little town, put on the dome light, and hold the wheel at 10 and 2 until he taps on my window.

"You've got a headlight out"

"I know - it literally went out 10 minutes ago coming off that last mountain".

"License and registration" he asks.

I hand him my license and my CCW, telling him I am carrying, and it is in the door pocket, and that my registration is the glove box, and it's a mess in there, so it may take some looking.

He thanks me for letting me know re. the pistol, and tells me to take my time finding the registration.

I hand it to him, and he asks if he can take the gun from the car and put it on my roof while he calls everything in.

I know it's not a requirement, but I don't want a hassle. So I tell him sure and "Would you like to get it yourself? It's in the door-pocket, a round in the chamber, and the safety is on."

He agrees, I open the door for him, and he takes the piece and puts it on my car roof while he returns to his car.

A few minutes later, he comes back, says everything checks out, puts my pistol back in the door, and says to be sure I get the headlight fixed.

Then he says something really nice and unnecessary:

"It was a pleasure meeting you."

I presume it was because I was calm, courteous and let him know everything I was doing so there were no surprises.

But I appreciate that he repaid my respect.

Chris Rock will not steer you wrong when it comes to dealing with the police, it doesn't matter what your skin tone is.

Not many details about Pennsylvania shooting -- but if state troopers were involved, most likely in boondocks, domestic dispute, drinking involved.

However, prevention is always better than first aid, and I weep for the nimrods who screwed up a night transit. Plenty of people should never stand watch again. Fittingly, the leadership triad is gone first. It has to be a command climate / training issue.

.The Navy doesn't have Command Staff people per se. You get picked at the E8/E9 level to go through the Command Master Chief training track and then you get to serve at least two tours at different Commands as CMC. Usually the first is Sea Duty and then another CMC tour on shore.

The guys in Subs have their own program for COB.

They wanted to put my wife through that and send her to DC as a Community Manager and we bailed, no way were we going to go to DC so we retired. I never even applied because I was unable to reenlist after I tore my knee up, I couldn't pass the reenlistment physical.

Okay, I knew there had to be a good reason.

The koran specifically instructs muzzies that they should not be friends with Jews and Christians. It also tells them that muzzies are superior to non-muzzies, i.e., infidels, and that muzzies are entitled (even obligated) to dominate and conquer infidels.

We've seen muzzies raping and enslaving and killing Yazidis, because they're not muzzies. The muzzies routinely call for the annilihation of Jews. We watched them destroying the ancient Buddhist statues, because of course, Buddhists -- not being muzzies -- are also inferior to muzzies.

The belief that muzzies are superior to all non-muzzies is not some fringe or "radical" belief; it is a core belief of Islam.

Yet that particular supremacist belief is not only never criticized in the west, it is rarely even mentioned. And it is never, never, never cited as a reason that justifies violence against muzzies.

Contrast that with the belief of the white supremacists. We are told by our media and the leftist who run our government that that belief is so odious and hateful that the people who hold that belief deserve to be shunned, silenced, even viciously beaten.

But muzzies? Why we should embrace them, ignore their supremacist beliefs, and celebrate their "diversity."

It is not that hard , unless you're looking for trouble . And if you are , the cops can give it to you , all you want.

Vic, the Damage Control report on the USS Fitzgerald (DDG-62) collision is out at CRD Salamander's site. The crew did very well after the collision.

However, prevention is always better than first aid, and I weep for the nimrods who screwed up a night transit. Plenty of people should never stand watch again. Fittingly, the leadership triad is gone first. It has to be a command climate / training issue.

Roll down your window
Leave your seat belt on.
Keep your hands at 10 and 2
When asked for your license/proof of insurance/registration, tell them where it is, and if you can go get it.
Wait until he answers and then do as directed
Do nothing extraneous that could be misunderstood
Do not get emotional
Hold your tongue
For if you disagree with the situation in any way, that is what going to court is for. Sign the ticket

Do this no matter how the cop is acting or speaking. Give them no reason to react. Do this if they're friendly or if they're angry. DO THIS.

I once had a very angry cop at my window, screaming with spittle flying. I did 'this'. He got a call and had to leave, but not before I sat there imagining saying one wrong word and I was going to be face slammed into the hood of my car while losing teeth and then going to jail. He screamed some more and then left.

Single, white, young female and yep, it was that drill. Middle aged now, and it's still the same thing. I've taught my teens exactly this, and have shown them the Chris Rock video. It's a valuable teaching tool, and the humor helps to make it stick.
