They're going over all over the 'safety precautions' the city has planned to 'protect' people from this "Free Speech Rally."

It amazes me how little surprises there have been in all those years. Back then, it was pretty clear who was going to die of an overdose, who would spend an average life in an average job, which thin girls would get fat and vice versa, which athletes would be alcoholics and wife beaters and which girls would be right there ready to be beaten.
On the other side, the ones who would be doctors, lawyers and business owners had pretty much revealed themselves by the time high school was finished.
Only one real turn around story that I can think of.

Last night I finally got around to watching Project Runway's season 16 opener along with Road to the Runway, where they showcase the designers who will be competing. They've always been gay-centric and politically correct, but this season it's on steroids.
This time around they gave us gender-fluid guy, the climate change awareness through fashion guy, the goofy Muslima, and the incest twins. They've always had obnoxious designers-you-love-to-hate and lots of catty, campy drama, but at least it was about the competition and the clothing. Now they've gone full-on "celebrate degeneracy".
I'm done. A fun show has become another ongoing lecture on Social Justice.

Why bother wasting an evening? I went to one reunion. After about 15 minutes I said to myself, 'Why the hell am I here?'
If it was to play the game of 'my dicks bigger than yours' I had already accomplished more than anyone in the room. Bigger house, bigger paycheck, more cars, boat, vacation home, etc. I had the best looking wife - though it was a toss-up with a down-to-earth blue collar guy who I identified with more than the smug bastids who were so 'cool' in HS but were now desk-bound fat losers. I didn't brag to anyone there. Listened to their humble brags enough to know I kicked their asses. (please excuse for going Moo-Moo there for a minute)
A friend from sports (I thought) -- who just happened to be African-American had a chip on his shoulder the size of Texas and I wanted to slap him silly. At about the one hour point, after consuming some mediocre food and a single watered down drink I was out of there. I'll never waste another evening on a reunion. *That* past can only be revisited by fools.

Heh, my son bought some sour cream and onion flavored crickets at a gift shop on Monday. He was determined to try it but a lot reticent. I went first. He didn't think I would do it. People have been able to get very rich writing books and championing it and a politcial party has used it to amass personal power and wealth but that's about it.
And as whites move on down the road towards minority status we will see whites abandoning the GOP and moving towards White Nationalist parties
This White Nationalism will not be a supremecy movement but will be an racial/ethno party similar to what Democrat party and it's racial/ethno groups are.

Problem is there are only two in this area and they are quite a hike for me - out in the suburbs.
Is that true in other parts of the country? I wondered about that and thought it might be because it might be difficult to find staff in the cities who are polite and cheerful. (Go to any urban McDonald's or Burger King to see my point.)
BTW several of the cheery and polite staffers at the Chik-Fil-A's I went to were black, as were a good number of the patrons, so it's culture not race.
Chik-Fil-A is clearly not diverse enough when it comes to hiring surly, rude employees who might spit on your food if they don't like you.

Authorities say two Pennsylvania state troopers have been shot and a suspect killed outside a small-town store, south of Pittsburgh.
State police say the troopers, both taken to hospitals after the Friday night shooting in Fairchance, were in stable condition. A state police spokeswoman didn't immediately return a call Saturday.

Every time we start re-fighting "The War Between the States" on this forum, I'm firmly on the side of Lincoln and the Union. BUT it never bothered me a whit how Southerners chose to honor their great men or how they drew courage and inspiration from their memory. Statues in public places are often beautiful to look at as well --especially in an increasingly ugly world.
But I'm not as optimistic as you and Yes, I could see Northern politicians going along with the iconoclasts out of fear or political expediency.

The Chronicle of Higher Education reported on Wednesday that proposals are being made at the college to award Takiyah Thompson, who has been charged with two felonies participation in a riot and inciting others to riot for her actions.
News that Thompson was involved in the demonstration was reportedly met with widespread support from campus faculty and students in her Introduction to Political Science class.
I saw the demonstration and the toppling of the monument. I think its a healthy thing for students to have a voice and to be leaders in activism, said Jim C. Harper II, chair of the history department. Were going to do everything we can to support Ms. Thompson.

I'm not saying conservatism is ethno based, but for the most part, the only block of people that identify themselves as conservative are white people in any meaningful numbers or in practice.
And as the GOP which is the primary home of conservatives abandons it's base, ie white base, these people are going to gravitate to the new political parties and movements that will spring up to take it's place and enter the fray.
The white majority of this country is being purposefully diminished in numbers and power so whites are either going to accept this diminishment or fight it.
Thus the rise and movement to White Nationalism.

I went to my reunion this summer. It was put on by the geeks and nerds, but the nicest cheerleaders, the gregarious boys who played baseball and football. It was fun. There were two couples who married classmates, but hadn't dated in high school.
I don't really agree with the theory that you can see the future man in the boy. I never thought my crabby, emo classmate would become vivacious and cheerful. The fat girl is a babe. The crazy one settled down and is a minister. The happy-go-lucky guy with all the work-ethic of a slug has a couple businesses, a big house with toys, and says a switch turned on when he was twenty. If anything, I haven't reached the potential of high school!

1) If a particular state wants a confederate memorial on their own non-federal lands, they can't be forced to remove it by the Federal government.
2) If a private entity wants a memorial on their own land, the state cannot stop them regardless of the states policy.

This is a true story. A house not far from me has had on it's front lawn a lawn jokey of a sombrero-wearing Mexican holding the reins of a donkey. It's been there at least 40 years and for the past decade or so everyone has been taking bets about when the homeowner would be "forced" to remove it --as Mexicans have been moving into the neighborhood.
The house was sold two months ago. To a Mexican family.
They not only kept the lawn jockey, they spruced it up.

- A number of black celebrities noted Michael Brown being a thug. Backlash was obviously huge. They all shut up & reversed their statements. He would not.
- BLM & cops. He said if cops left inner cities they would be war zones, & again, would not back down.
- The amount of death threats, etc. that he has put up with must be extreme. I've never seen him back down. Nor whine & complain.
For all his faults, the guys has something called courage. I don't know many people who could stand up to that onslaught again & again & again. And, he doesn't have to do it.
Where's Oprah & Michael Jordan & all those who you know think this is all batshit crazy. Any courage shown there for all their privilege? Nope.
Plus, Barkley Is humourous. Which is always a plus.
