I've got a guy who claims he has sources that says we are going to be exchanging blows with the NORKs within the next 2 weeks.

I'm not convinced, but only because I doubt everyone who claims they have sources.

Phat-boi is crazy, so there's no telling what he may do. I doubt his missiles could reach anything I care about regardless, and if those satellites manage an EMP strike, well, it'll be fun to watch the urban centers of this dysfunctional society eat themselves first.

The Deplorables will abide.

Do I sound cynical?

Eh.

It's probably because I'm cynical.

2 Good Morning Morons. Today is Saturday, August 12, 2017. On this day in 1851 Isaac Singer was granted a patent for his sewing machine. And it looked pretty much like the one my great grandmother had. It was operated by a food pedal.

Phat Phuck has painted his ass into a corner. If he does not fire off that salvo at Guam as promised, he loses face at home with the party/military elite. But, insane as he is, he likes being in control and realizes if he does fire as promised, Pyongyang will get hammered. The game-changer is that his Chi-Com buddies have made a drastic change in their policy in that they will now NOT come to his defense if he shoots first which is a green light for PDT to take him out unimpeded.

That said, he is unpredictable as to what he might or might not do and that is dangerous.

Now is a good time to dust off Perception and Misperception in International Politics by Robert Jervis.

We just don't have enough military assets in place to deliver the ordinance we need to, unless we use our underground nukes.

South Korea will get a vote, too.

Is Trump willing to risk the lives of hundreds of thousands of Seoul dwellers and tens of thousands of Americans?

I don't think so.

The world's economy?

China is not bluffing.

Are we?

Kim Jong Un is desperate. He's manufactured this crisis likely because he sees his grip on power as very weak. Trump's Fire and Force rhetoric is all he needed to show his subjects that this time it's real. Grab your guns and get ready to defend the glorious revolution.

I suspect our plan is to create such an existential threat and stress this already weakened system that someone in Kim's inner circle somehow gets the balls to end his life.

There's a drought in North Korea right now. That, with sanctions and a strong missile defense necessitates we keep up the pressure but do not launch military action unless Kim acts first.

I think your source is full of it, no matter how well placed he is in the War Machine.

Women not passing the strict physical standards of combat and special operations? the hell you say! Those standards are sexist and out of date! The first "female SEAL" dropped in the first week of a 3 week Orientation Course, the Marine Corps ran a 3 month infantry experiment with 2 all male platoons and 2 integrated platoons. The integrated platoons did not fare well in the battery of training scenarios. The Rangers had 2 of 8 females "qualify" as Rangers, but they did not pass all the training, nor did they pass the enlisted Ranger qualification test required to join the Ranger Regiment.

This social manipulation of the military needs to stop. The world is entirely too dangerous without making it moreso by succumbing to the madness of artificial equality. If there is a war in Korea, it will be bloody enough without putting more troops in danger because their units are further handicapped by the implementation of a needless, social experiment.

That said, the Marine Corps has not cancelled leave and liberty in the Eastern region of the United States (nor has the Army), so I suspect that despite the media hyperventilation, that renewed hostility in Korea isn't an immediate concern.

Each morning my mom gets up and asks "Well, are we at war yet?" I usually reply Yep, us deplorables, and by extension, Trump are under attack daily.

I read an interesting, if horrifying, analysis the other day by someone looking at a worst case scenario of the Norks' nuke capabilities. And it was not completely farfetched.

The 2 assessments released the other day by Japan and US official defense analysts suggests that KYU may have as many as 60 bombs. Other reports suggest that the Norks are making bombs that are stingy on the fissionables, using as little as 4 pounds of plutonium per bomb. Less fissionables/bomb = more bombs

Now what if they have a missile for each bomb, with an ICBM's reach? We the public have no idea how many missiles they have; hopefully the Defense Dept. does.

But if 60 missiles were to come our way at once, our missile defense systems couldn't get them all.

Without advanced telemetry the Norks can blow up a lot of west coast farmland and forest without hitting anything of value. Air burst does the most damage to a city, but once again that takes advanced electronics to achieve. Ground explosion makes for a lot of radioactive fallout but not much bang.

Unless the ChiComs are helping them, they're not going to do much damage. No matter how many bombs they have.

Consequently truth itself is under attack, and the very underpinnings of modern Enlightenment thought - the free discourse and exchange of ideas has been jettisoned.
