Roger Simon: Imran Awan Needs a Special Prosecutor 1000x More Than Trump

It sure seems like a lot of powerful people have something to hide.

Jeff Sessions should immediately appoint a special counsel in this case whose tentacles are so vast they reach the highest levels of our government. The FBI, working unsupervised, has already been tainted by its heavily-criticized investigation of Hillary Clinton's emails, an investigation that actually may turn out to be related to this one. It cannot be trusted to do this by themselves. We need a special counsel.

Further, unlike Russiagate, this is an investigation that already has a crime (Awan will be arraigned August 21). It isn't in search of one. It's just trying to find out its extent wherever it leads.,,,

There are a lot of shoelaces to be tied up here. Among them:

1, Why did Debbie Wasserman Schultz keep this man in her employ right up until he was arrested Tuesday night when he has been under suspicion for months. Does he have something on her or other people?

2. Why did Nancy Pelosi lie when she said she never heard of Awan? Email revealed by Wikileaks says Awan had access to Pelosi's iPad. (Wiklileaks has never been shown to be inaccurate.)

3. What is on the smashed hard drives Awan is trying to retrieve from the FBI? (Oh, those Democrats and their hard drives.)

4. Why is Awan suddenly being legally represented at the highest level by Clinton ultra-loyalist Chris Gowan -- a fact-checker for Bill Clinton's memoir of all things? (They are already using the same right-wing conspiracy baloney they used in the Lewinski case.) Does this make sense if Awan's just a low-lif.e fraudster? Why not let him dangle?

5. Just what is the relationship, if any, between the Awan case and the unsolved Seth Rich murder? Is it entirely an accident that Debbie Wasserman Schultz's brother Steven is accused of blocking the investigation? Denials from Debbie aren't worth much anymore.

6. Where did the Wikileaks come from anyway? Was it really Russia?

Could have been Russia employing a shady Pakistani to get the information. It's not as if spymasters are only permitted to recruit their own nationals.

But we need a special counsel to know for sure.

Plus, see Glenn Reynold's recap post on the IT 5 (that link appears fragged; maybe just check his main page and scan down), including this plausible speculation.

Five Capitol Hill technology aides told The Daily Caller News Foundation’s Investigative Group that members of Congress have displayed an inexplicable and intense loyalty towards the suspects who police say victimized them. The baffled aides wonder if the suspects are blackmailing representatives based on the contents of their emails and files, to which they had full access.

“I don’t know what they have, but they have something on someone. It’s been months at this point” with no arrests, said Pat Sowers, who has managed IT for several House offices for 12 years. “Something is rotten in Denmark.”

The fact that a Friend of Bill and Hill superpartisan lawyer has been brought in to defend this alleged grifter just makes this all the more suspicious.

Bingo. Special prosecutor is intended if there is conflict of interest. If we're arguing that FBI cannot investigate anyone tangentially related to politicians, then we need to be able to support that with more than whispers.

Posted by: Banana Splits Guy at July 27, 2017 11:58 AM (4ayRW)

18 There are no "Special Prosecutors", only Special Counsels, and then only when there is a conflict of interest within the DOJ.

Surely, there should have been a Special Counsel for the Hillary Clinton email investigation.
You just can't tell me that all those Democrats in the DOJ were unbiased.

As far as the Imran Awan case, until there is an apparent conflict, which might not take too long given all the Democrats involved, there will be not Special Counsel.

Whatshername is the victim here. It happens all the time. You hire an accountant and later you discover the person you trusted to keep the books was skimming money. Or you hire security consultants and discover they are running smuggling operations using your contract aircraft to evade baggage screening.

There was no intent, no provable intent, no evidence that the Democrats deliberately sold sensitive congressional information to our enemies.

A year the demorats have been searching for anything on Trump and now going after his family. Personal vendetta's all around.

And here we have, no doubt in my mind, so much dirt on so many democrats that it makes your mind spin.

We need to be able to dig out of this. Democrats are always protected and all their crimes covered up and never discussed.

This is a case for keeping Sessions in. From what I understand it will be nearly impossible to replace him and then what? The GOP floats along like dead wood on a lazy stream.

97 The questions about the FBI's capacity and integrity are obviously far more than whispers.

The Clinton crime wave - the unprecedented, massive, systematic violation of the Espionage Act (with nearly certain damage to the national interests via foreign exploitation, notwithstanding the FBI's ludicrous limp claim to the contrary), and the Public Records Act, and certainly various statutes falling under bribery and conflict of interest - sits there, completely untouched by "law enforcement".

Oh, what's that you say? This is all due to DOJ corruption, refusal to direct investigations of the obvious crimes, refusal to provide normal immunity and other investigate tools to the FBI, and also due to Comey's bizarre mix of stupidity, arrogance, and corruption?

No - but it deserves to be documented. If we had a Congress, or a party that was serious about its responsibilities, that would be the body to turn this greatest-ever DOJ/FBI scandal inside out.

Since we don't - oh well. Welcome to Mexico, or Ukraine, or Nigeria.

We salivate at the notion that the IT 5 have the goods on all of this corruption and that the FBI will get the info off the hard drives and this information will become public knowledge. If Hillary's email server should have taught us anything, it is that there are no honest brokers in Washington. It is corruption and double dealing all the way down. And even if there is proof of criminality, the media will beclown itself to cover up the story. Bill Clinton committed perjury and suborned perjury. Obama weaponized the IRS, and we still don't know what he was doing during the Benghazi attacks. Hillary Clinton violated countless laws and undoubtedly enabled the Russians and Chinese to hack her official email account. What might be on DWS's hard drives worse than any of that?

147 Well, Horde, taking care of my canine situation is so far worse than I imagined.

I took the bitey dog to the shelter this morning. The first person I talked to said he would be labeled aggressive and adoption could not be guaranteed. Well, fine, that's what I expected. Full speed ahead. Then another woman came in and informed both of us that, if he drew blood, which he did, he needed to be taken to quarantine in my own town's animal control center. That's per state law.

So I drove over there. They told me it'd be $150, and he needed to be picked up in ten days exactly, which is problematic because I won't be here in ten days. They could also do home quarantine but that'd mean leaving him with my wife, her friend, and three babies while I'm at military training. So not an option. I could also leave him for free, but he would be euthanized.

I told the lady that I was going to walk to my car and discuss it with my wife. As I walked there, some fat fuck who I hadn't been dealing with followed me and asked where I was going with the dog. I told him I was calling my wife, and he said, "Don't leave because we will fine you $2,000 a day for failure to quarantine." All the while, one of his colleagues is writing down my license plate and description!

So I left him for $150. Hopefully my wife picks him up in ten days while I'm gone and gets him to the other shelter.

Just don't understand what's happened to freedom in this country. I get munched on by my dog in my house, and some fucking dog catchers treat me like a criminal. Fuck off, assholes, this is my choice!

1. Why the DNC did not heed the FBI's warning they were being hacked?

2. Did the DNC know they had stuff to hide, even from the FBI, so they privately used Awan and his family to try to trace the leak?

3. Did they find it the leaker was Seth Rich?

4. And/or did Awan just use what he found for blackmail?

5. Who owned the smashed hardrives Awan left behind and then desparately tried to retrieve?
-------
1. Perhaps it didn't matter if they were hacked since Hillary was going to be president, so they were untouchable.

2. Maybe. Although honestly, I'm not sure how competent the Awans were in IT, since one worked at McDonalds.

3. Someone found out the leaker was Seth Rich.

4. Maybe. I'd also guess he sold info to people the "The Muslim Brohterhood" or even "Iran"

5. THAT is a very interesting question no one has asked yet. Could be someone from the DNC, could be Awans. Could be almost anything.

Well, without even going into tin-foil hat mode , the Clinton are really good at using their money to buy people's support. For example, as a Senator she went out of her way to use her PAC money to fund other Democrat Senators and Congressman's PAC. I seem to recall they also gave a lot of money to the underfunded DNC last year. Think of the foundation's billions, plus all that campaign money they've raised being spread all over DC, buying up favors and loyalty. They've been doing the same thing with media.

200 97 The questions about the FBI's capacity and integrity are obviously far more than whispers.

Yea but in things like the anthrax case there were actual identified crimes. No federal crime regarding the Awan and DWS has been asserted yet and it is likely the investigation is ongoing if this is as widespread as seems likely.

Not uncommon at all for the FBI or any law enforcement branch to not release details of an investigation until they think staying quiet has outlived it's usefulness.

217 Funny this arrest, the potential for an impending legal action against an or some intel leakers, and the "public feud" between Trump and Sessions all occurring in such short order. It's almost as if it is actually staged, an offensive so incredibly planned that zombie Eisenhower will rise up and applaud.

The Clintons are not clever and not particularly bright, they have benefited from a population that does not pay attention and a media who exploited that. But the myth that she was somehow a genius and the most-prepared person to ascend to the White House ignores that she lost an election to a barely literate, half-wit whose sole redeeming quality was his mixed-breed conception. This past election, she needed dirty tricks to defeat a challenge by an equally poorly equipped communist sympathizer, when she finally stood in the Octagon against Donald J Trump, she demonstrated just how painfully inadequate she really is.

President Trump is playing chess against those playing tic-tac-toe and he is getting ready to clear the board. The tweets have put the media into a weird position to sympathize with Jeff Sessions, a circle that will be difficult to square when Sessions starts arresting and prosecuting the swamp dwellers, to include Billy, Hilly and the detestable Obama. At least that is my hope, that Trump is not prodding his Attorney General to do something, rather he is providing suppressive fires as Sessions and the DOJ/FBI maneuver into the assault.

229 Roger Simon: "Imran Awan Case Needs Special Counsel 100X More than Russiagate"

The Awan Case may actually *BE* Russiagate.

What if Awan & Bros. were in their files for Pakistan, not Russia?

What if they tasked Awan with finding Seth Rich?

Even if they discovered the Awans were spies, they couldn't say so, especially during Hillary's campaign.

I'm not for Special Counsels unless Obama managed to fire all the honest prosecutors. But maybe if it were assigned to another counsel, Mueller couldn't bury it.

I wonder who else Awan was wiretapping? He seems to have been a very busy fellow.

The speculation that he may be blackmailing the crooked congress critters doesn't seem so far-fetched, given his other activities.

234 There was a classic Doctor Who episode "Seeds of Doom", where an eccentric billionaire fantasized about being a plant and hated the human scum who enslaved and oppressed plants (the BBC was actually against this nuttiness in the 70's).

Anyhow, this billionare Chase brought seed pods from Antarctica, originating from outer space (Krynoids), so that they would infect and destroy humanity, by turning them into more Krynoids. It had a very Innsmouth type feel.

I think Debbie is an insane nut like Chase and Awan is the seed pod she intentionally brought in.

235 President Trump is playing chess against those playing tic-tac-toe and he is getting ready to clear the board.

306 I'm laughing bitterly and steaming mad right now, simultaneously.

An acquaintance I know is full-time climate-change activist who constantly jets around the world to an endless series of "climate conferences," where self-congratulatory hypocrites convene to whine about how everyone else burns up too much carbon in their daily lives.

Well, he just got back from yet another conference (probably the 15th one this year, at a minimum), this time in Hawaii. I asked him how it went.

He replied that the conference "lacked focus" and that most of the attendees sat through the opening ceremony and then "wandered away to go surfing" for the rest of the four-day event.

The few remaining attendees then voted my acquaintance to be the "Inspiration Leader," whose job it was to get everyone back into the conference.

So the next morning he summoned them all back via email and message, and most grumpily returned, where he then proceeded to harangue and lecture and humiliate them for three straight hours about their duty to the Earth, and they were the "thought leaders" who were the only ones who could stave off climate apocalypse!

After the lecture, everyone went to lunch -- about about 1/3rd of them returned for the afternoon jack-off time-wasting "seminars," while the other 2/3s disappeared -- later spotted on the beach and at tiki bars.

The next day, the conference was back down to its previous skeleton-crew of the handful of hyper-activist true believers, while everyone else was off having a jolly vacation in Hawaii, funded by the travel budgets of various nonprofits.

He tried additional "guilt talks" (as he called them) with ever-diminishing effects.

Basically, the whole conference was a total washout, a free vacation and hookup sex party and surfing fiesta for trustafarian SJW douchebags who have gotten "jobs" at "social justice nonprofits" so they don't look like slackers to their parents.

I faux-sympathized with him that no actual climate-activism was engaged upon, but he surprised me by being upbeat about the whole thing. Upon further inquires from me, he revealed something shocking:

That his entire "career" as a climate activist is doing nothing but what he did in Hawaii -- hectoring and lecturing and guilt-tripping his fellow activists, to goad them into actually getting something done. So from his point of view, the conference was a rousing success, because he fulfilled his role as a climate activist -- "Inspiration Leader."

He needs to do this, he said, because basically MOST climate conferences are similarly discombobulated and unfocused, and there is ALWAYS a need for a guilt-tripping asshole to harangue everyone. And that this is a valid and useful role in the fight to save the planet.

That's it. That all he does, all he ever does: guilt-trip his fellow activists.

Then he admitted that, since the conference was almost completely abandoned, he too just decided to go snorkeling and boogie-boarding. Why not? I'm in Hawaii after all!

I am currently speechless with pity and rage.

This is exactly right.
Inflation depreciates the debt accumulated from the past, and makes it seem "more palatable".
The Kick the Can school of politics and economics wants inflation to continue, so they can continue spending fiat money that doesn't exist.

And inflation makes a lot of us poorer. I am somewhat fortunate, in that I own a house in a neighborhood where home prices are rising again. A lot of people are getting killed financially, because they have to hold onto a house that may actually be losing value, through no fault of their own.

Well, as I've mentioned before, this guy is the husband of my best friend, so the only way I could avid him is to stop being friends with her -- which I would never do. I have to interact with him, out of politeness, more frequently that I would like.

I have secretly been trying to break up their marriage, with little effect, unfortunately. She kinda hates him, but also pities him, and their marriage is more like a mother-son relationship than husband-wife. She takes cars of him and all the details of life, while he is just a useless big baby. The problem is, she kind of ENJOYS this mothering-role, so even when he's particularly idiotic and useless, that doesn't do anything to break them up. Sigh.

Yes, on one hand it's comforting to know that even the hardcore "activists" know their entire movement is bullshit-on-steroids. But it's infuriating that they are so sanctimonious about their hypocrisy and have a nonstop good-time party because their SJWism give them (in their own minds) a free pass to explore the other limits of hypocrisy.

I've gotten to the point where I want these people to suffer. Cruel of me, but they have driven me to this opinion.

In fact, he also showed me cuts on his knees and arms where he got all injured from the sharp lava formations when he was climbing out of the water after snorkeling. And THAT was the only thing that cheered me up -- the knowledge that he felt physical pain.

406 NGU, that's pretty hilarious, actually.

Disarming police officers would obviously lead to, um, a "recruiting and retention" problem in any departments with that policy.

So, sort of a self-correcting bit of idiocy, for once. And it would self-correct quickly. Sadly most idiocies imposed on Americans linger on for years, causing massive damage, before they are abandoned. And today, the nation's wealth and future generations are being plundered to sustain many expensive idiocies ("green energy" etc.).

But disarming cops would have a much shorter, and more amusing, action/reaction cycle, methinks.

410 I have no information at all and I watch too many movies but what the hell, here you go.

What'sherface Shultz hires Awan because he knows computers better than she does and it's a diversity hire. He's reasonably competent and has access to everything in short order.
He calls his cousin Mohammad in Abbotabad and sells the information to the ISI. They pat him on the back and tell him to get more.
Awan goes to Debbie and asks if she would put in the word for him with her colleagues. He also suggests he can get 'the dirt' on them. She agrees wholeheartedly, simply assuming her information is safe.
Awan gets into the systems of the others and starts sucking them dry, selling it to ISI as they go.
Then Awan gets greedy, he gets his family hired then starts hustling the government on equipment purchases.
They spot the hustle and then start sniffing around the data breeches.
Awan panics and destroys the hard-drives.
Most of the Democrats fire him, thinking the scam is the only interest. Debbie knows it is a lot more than that so she keeps paying him and starts negotiating.
Debbie needs proof that Awan has nothing on her. Clinton is concerned he has everything the DNC has on her. Awan is stuck because ISI is all "What have you done for me lately? and Why the hell did you get greedy with the equipment scam?" He's headed for Qatar because he wants to sell the information again and then head home.
Debbie has to fire him and pray the FBI can find the information before he can release it.
If Awan was ISI, he would already be gone. He's been too sloppy for a professional. I'd guess he stepped into a situation and tried to make the most of it and now he is stuck. Debbie is trying to bury whatever information there is out there and the FBI is working to find out what they have and how much leverage it will give them. Clinton is planning to make it fade away, what could stick to her anyway?
