Department of Justice Lawyers Still Suing Little Sisters of the Poor and Other Religiously-Oriented Organizations Over Obamacare Birth Control/Abortion Mandate

Message to Trump: This must end. End it.

DOJ lawyers have continued to keep alive a slew of cases appealing a 2014 district court ruling that granted an injunction from the mandate to several Catholic organizations. The Supreme Court vacated an appeals court ruling against The Little Sisters of the Poor and similar organizations in 2016, sending the cases back to the lower courts. Many religious freedom advocates expected that the Trump administration, which has vowed to protect The Little Sisters and other organizations burdened by the contraceptive mandate, would drop the legal campaign against the religious organizations. But more than six months into the Trump era, the legal fights are still alive.

Although Trump signed an executive order directing the DOJ to consider and propose an alternate rule which would insulate religiously-oriented organizations from compliance with the birth control/abortion mandate in Obamacare, no such rule has actually been published, so the situation remains as it was.

Also seems like a possible firing offense.

59 CTE -- Repeated Concussion Brain Degeneration -- Found in 99% of Brains of Deceased NFL Players

++++

CNN once again earns its #fakenews reputation. The headline is flat out false. They do get to the true in their piece.

Chronic traumatic encephalopathy, known as CTE, was found in 99% of deceased NFL players' brains that were donated to scientific research, according to a study published Tuesday in the medical journal JAMA.

Emphasis mine. I would suspect that those who feel like they may have reason to believe that they suffered brain damage may be more likely to donate their brain to the study than those who didn't have that suspicion. If that's true, it means the results are skewed.

Supposedly - Republicans now Own the Process. They make the rules. They own the fucking rules.

If the Rules suck - change them. And if it's really important ... Break Them Until They Change. Yes - I have before. Sometimes DOING YOUR FUCKING JOB means being willing to LOSE YOUR FUCKING JOB.

I did it over a safety issue. Because walking out beats Watching Somebody Sooner or Later Fry Like a Fucking Hot Dog. Republicans can surely do it too.

If Jeff Sessions thinks this lawsuit is wrong - you walk your Old Alabama Ass down there and stop it. Tomorrow.

And if you don't Jeff - your respect for The Process and The Rule of Law is just a fvcking excuse to do nothing.

169 OK, tinfoil pirate hat time my droogs:

Trump knows how to hire people. He can build a good management team. That's obvious.

He spent how long hemming and hawwing, and meeting with people from election night on, saying "I'll let you know who my pick is soon!"

Here's the tinfoil part:

I betcha he had an A-list already assembled before he even filed the PAPERWORK to run, and the cabinet we have now was just the first round of patsies he put in to set them up for failure.

He had to see who he was "expected" to pick by the swamp first to fill out the patsy roster.

If he went with his A team off the bat, confirmation hearings would be going on for the whole four years. Now, he can cycle in the A-team one after the other and get Congress so in a tizzy about other crap that they couldn't care less about some bullcrap midterm confirmation battle.

This Russia/Recusal nightmare seems to be a fly in the ointment a bit, but whatevs.

OK. Tinfoil off.

This morning on local radio in Detroit, the owner of the Somerset Mall was being interviewed as to why the mall is still doing well with shoppers, etc.

For those unfamiliar, Somerset "Collection" is a high end mall north of Detroit in the wealthier suburbs . Has anchor stores such as Neiman Marcus, etc. Valet parking, blah blah.

The owner said that they are constantly refreshing stores, etc. to stay current, opening new stores that are trendy, etc.
And he also heaped tons of praise on the opening of...a Chik Fil A at this tony mall. He and the host gushed about how their are lines to get in the Chik Fil A, which I believe is only the first or second one in the Detroit area.

LOL, loved it.

Trump should signal to Ryan that he is going to war against a do nothing congress and to McConnell that if he takes up the Russia sanctions bill in the Senate he will be going to war with them too.

===

This may be the problem. Trump has never run a huge, multi-location, multi-division company or corporation. His company does not have a huge fixed payroll, I bet. He contracts-out the building of properties and the day-to-day management of major properties. And how many properties does he actually own, rather than have his name on them for a part of the profits?

PDT himself may be out of his skill-zone trying to staff and manage dozens of Departments and Agencies, and keeping their noses to the grindstone.

One other thing: I believe PDT is being punked by the MFM and Democrats. They know he is thin-skinned, so by keeping up the Russia! Treason! and Trump is a lying, racist, sexist pig! drumbeats, they are baiting Trump to lose focus. And he's falling for it.

I'm beginning to lose faith.

Posted by: qdpsteve at July 25, 2017 08:44 PM (eMKNe)

You're probably right on all counts.

Although I've said that if I had to be stranded on a desert island with only one album, it would be a tough choice. "Blood on the Tracks", "Desire", "World Gone Wrong", "Time Out of Mind", "Love and Theft", and "Tempest" would also be worthy choices.

The "Another Self Portrait" box set released a few years ago was absolutely stunning. It's like he picked the worst songs for "Self Portrait" in 1970 and left the best ones on the cutting room floor. Why? I have no idea.

That's the big thing right there.

The conventional wisdom is that the folk fans were outraged when he went electric, but the truth is that they considered him a sellout when he stopped writing and performing "protest songs" a year earlier.

The folk movement was heavily infested with Communists, and he gave them the brush-off in 1964. They never forgave him for that.

Although from what I understand Dylan still couldn't get away from the left after he stopped writing "protest songs." It turned out that ANYTHING he wrote, leftist music critics would claim was still leftist, just 'between the lines.'

The affidavit also paints him as an overly confident con artist, saying he listed his House phone number when initiating the wire transfer, and pretended to be a woman - his wife - on the phone when a Congressional Federal Credit Union questioned the transfer. 'The person answering the call, who was a male, pretended that he was Alvi (his wife). On the call, the [bank] representative asked the man to verify the address of where the wire was being sent and the purpose of the outgoing wire," the document says.

Imran claimed the $300,000 was for "funeral arrangements."

"The CFCU representative then stated that 'funeral arrangements' may not be an acceptable reason for the wire. The male speaking to the representative then responded that he would look online for an acceptable reason for the wire. After a long pause, the male said that the reason for the wire was "buying property.' The representative accepted that reason and initiated the wire transfer to Pakistan."

He played a world tour in 1966 that featured the loudest music anybody had ever heard up to that point. It was damn near punk rock a generation early.

Then in 1967 he retreated to his home in Woodstock, NY with the the musicians who eventually became known as The Band, and explored traditional country, blues, and gospel styles of music.

This was while the psychedelic movement was at its peak. Dylan and The Band seemed to take no notice of it.

Those recordings were not officially released to the public, but became known as the "Basement Tapes" and were circulated among musicians. They had a profound effect on some of them in the late 60s, who started releasing country-flavored albums.

365 55 A growing number of foods commonly found in kitchens across America have tested positive for glyphosate, the herbicide that is the main ingredient in the popular consumer pesticide Roundup, which is widely used in agriculture. But few brands on that list are as startling as the latest: Ben & Jerry's, the Vermont ice cream company known for its family-friendly image and environmental advocacy.

The Organic Consumers Association announced Tuesday that it found traces of glyphosate in 10 of 11 samples of the company's ice creams -- although at levels far below the ceiling set by the Environmental Protection Agency.
