Berkeley Radio Station Cancels Richard Dawkins Appearance Over His Denigrating Comments About Islamism-- But Not Over His Far More Extensive History of Attacks on Christianity

Feels like our Masters have now settled upon our official State Religion.

Dawkins himself brought up the question on everyone's minds:

I am known as a frequent critic of Christianity and have never been de-platformed for that. Why do you give Islam a free pass? Why is it fine to criticise Christianity but not Islam?

This twitter guy continues:

1. It was all fun and games when Dawkins focused his ire solely on Christianity. The liberal applause was plentiful.

2. But, of course, treating irrational Islamic teachings and dogmas with the same respect just won't do, will it? Insta-bigot/racist etc.

3. If Dawkins' output/rhetoric on Islam is considered too sinister for a supposed 'liberal' institution like #Berkley, then mainstream...

4. ...liberalism is in desperate need of a wake-up call.

5. Did I just imagine a time when 'bans' were the pastime of the Christian right? Where students abhorred restrictions?

6. I issue a challenge to #Berkley: Is Islam perfect? If not, name one critic of Islam you deem suitable to talk about it on campus.

Note: He has confused this (privately-owned, I think) Berkeley radio station for the college at Berkeley. Doesn't really change much, but note this is a radio station issue, not a "campus" issue.

7. I guarantee there isn't a known critic of Islam that isn't labeled a 'bigot'. Even unknowns like myself get it regularly.

8. The mainstream left & so-called liberals have now become enforcers of Islamic blasphemy law. They've failed themselves & Muslims.

Because Christianity doesn't align perfectly with slavery for the masses and all power to the elite few. With just a few tweaks ( http://tinyurl.com/dl2gkz ) it is the socialist dream for the Earth fulfilled.

16 There was a poet and playwright in 18th-century Germany, name of Lessing. Fairly important player in the Enlightenment.

So too was King Frederick II "the Great" of Prussia, at least to the extent that he was a skeptic about organized religion, and in fact was pretty derisive of Christianity and Judaism (though curiously, he looked into importing some Muslims into his kingdom). Anyway, Lessing visited Prussia on the assumption that it would be a pretty enlightened, forward-thinking place, but found that criticism of the state and the ruling elites was strictly forbidden. In response, he wrote that Frederick loved "enlightenment" as long as you were attacking religious belief, but the moment you turned your criticism toward the state, you would find that Prussia was "the most slavish country in Europe."

Apropos of nothing.

KPFA is an ultra-left radio station that has been around for years. It is one of the foundations of the hard left in the Bay Area.

125 I'd like Craig as Bond more, but he was always going to have a very short shelf life. He simply didn't want to do as many movies as Moore, and Bond's character arc should mark this incarnation's definite end.

And of course, after the ludicrously contrived "smartgun" nonsense, I'm perfectly happy to give the rest of the series a hard pass. Make Bond a woman: make him a transgendered shark for all I care. The sooner popular media is completely unwatchable the sooner alternative views can start getting traction.

---

Sure, liberals might have to see a few of their gay friends pushed off buildings. And the rest will have to go into the closet, but doing it with dancing boys will be OK, so there's that consolation prize

And the women will be forced to walk around in garbage bags. But they'll convince themselves the only way to show your true womanhood is to ...dress in a garbage bag.

But in turn, they'll get polygamy and bestiality, and all crimes against women will be legal, since you'll need four men to verify anything a woman says in court.

Basically, it's a good vs. evil thing, and the liberals always choose evil. So they'll be OK with this deal.

I think it's even simpler. Libs are nuts. In their world, there is no real thing of islamic terror (or sharia or grooming or acid attacks) and so on. If any does come to the surface, it's because the white devil (jesus humpers) made them do it.

Also, then, their delusions have all the evil of the world being because Christians won't let two men marry. Also, handmaidens tale.

So...in their fake world:

Jesus followers are like evil and invented war.
Mohammedianisansn are poor oppressed just want to be like us but are diverse, so they're better than us, although they're easily driven to go boom because we are so much worse than them but we accidentally stole all their jobs first resulting in poverty what leads to religion.

198 KPFA hasn't ever been domiciled anywhere other than Berkeley, so far as I know. The "Pacifica" moniker for the associated network of stations came about because that had been originally founded by lefty peaceniks.

By the by, Pacifica Radio has descended into absolute batshit lunacy from a governance perspective in the last couple of years. Multiple feuding factions on the board, doing stuff like firing each other and changing the locks on all of the doors. Or getting injunctions against the foundation's bank accounts so that staff don't get paid.

And, most amusingly of all, them bitterly accusing each other of being covert agents of COINTELPRO.

What, what? COINTELPRO, the Vietnam-era FBI program started under J. Edgar Hoover to sneak informers into the campus radical movement? That COINTELPRO? Yes, that. The very same. Which they apparently still believe to be an ongoing, active thing.

As for how COINTELPRO would have come through the Carter, Clinton, and Obama administrations untouched? Well, the sort of people who work for places like Pacifica Radio have long since adopted the Red Queen's rule about believing six impossible things before breakfast. It's one huge morass of weird theories and clinical paranoia.

It's mostly federal money coming through the local affiliates by way of "community groups" like whatever ACORN is called now. The accounting for the "listener-sponsored" claim would get you arrested if you did it in the business sector.

--

It was somehow tied to the Vatican Bank.

Perhaps the cardinals knew that JPII wouldn't do whatever JPI wanted to do with the Vatican Bank.

Even though he was conservative and anti-communist, perhaps they could live with that.

However, they could NOT live with people peeking into the Vatican Bank, which is why they chose him. The Vatican Bank thing was their deal breaker, meaning they could tolerate all the other stuff JPII was going to do.

Or they didn't think he had it in him to do the things he did, and saw him as a "dumb Polock."

I think KPFA (or maybe just the Pacifica Foundation) gets CPB money.

They used to. Pacifica lost CPB funding a couple years back as it failed to meet the audit requirements for CPB grants. So KPFA relies on listener donations, fundraisers, etc. There are enough wealthy lefties in Berkeley to keep it going.

KPFA has a couple of decent music programs (especially the Friday night "History of Funk" show with Rickey Vincent, which I used to listen to pretty regularly). But those are far outweighed by their ludicrous political programming.

I agree. And I know a lot of people who aren't Catholic who hate the Catholic Church because of their holdings. '

I tend to look at it this way: men are inherently fallible. So you put men (or women) in charge of any large organization, and there are bound to be problems. Because people can become corrupted.

However, that doesn't mean that the beliefs of the church in general are corrupt, simply the flawed individuals who are running it.

It is interesting to note all the parallels between Islam and Leftism. But I think the main reason is that liberals really are bigots. They cannot think of Muslims as humans who are morally responsible for what they do. They think of them as baby seals, and if you hurt their feelings by, say, pointing out Mohammed's unfortunate sexual predilections, or pointing to Islam's history of violence, you are doing the equivalent of clubbing a baby seal. Tragically having had Charlie's medical notes reviewed by independent experts, we now know had Charlie been given the treatment sooner, he would have had the potential to be a normal healthy little boy.

Despite his condition in January, Charlie's muscles were in pretty good shape and far from showing irreversible catastrophic structural brain damage.

422 381 RE: Catholic Churches, you can church shop if you have more than one in your area.

The closest parish is super liberal, full on hippie guitar mass and a bit of an activist church. Can't tolerate the pastor, and the assistant pastor doesn't speak English.

Went back to our old church, which is VERY conservative, no guitars, no hippie crap, and the pastor doesn't talk about global warming or anything else political.

To change parishes, I think all I had to do was send a letter to the old parish telling them I was moving.

Posted by: shibumi, american badass at July 24, 2017 09:15 PM (aT+Bx)

We left out Parish because my Dad was the account and a trustee for the Church. Soccer just started to become popular in the 70's and 80's and the local organization needed some land because they outgrew what the local park had. Members of the trustees of the Church and Soccer org ( they were on both boards) wanted to sell the land the Church owned to the Soccer org. My Father said no because at the time the soccer organization had a rule saying if you didn't go to the local School and went to the neighboring one you couldn't play. and he felt that they should lease the land therefore have control over the land and not everyone from the church could even enjoy it. He was over out voted and they sold it. My Dad resigned in protest.

Well it's been a cluster ever since because now they have all kinds of parking issues, people using the Church Parking during games and leaving parishioners not being able to park when they want to attend church. People parking on the grass, trash etc.
