New White House Comms Director Anthony Scarmucci: If People Keep Leaking, I'm Going to "Fire Everbody"

I like this man's enthusiasms.

Enthusiasms. Enthusiasms.

Regarding leakers:

"They will get fired. Tomorrow I'll have a staff meeting, and it will be very -- I'm not going to make any prejudgments about anybody on that staff, if stay, they're going to stop leaking. If the leaks continue, we are strong is our weakest link and I'll say it differently in a pun where a strong as our weakest leak. If you guys want to keep leaking, get together and make a decision as a team that you're going to stop leaking. If you're going to keep leaking, I'm going to fire everybody."

I am most concerned about the moderates who only respect GOP types who hate their base and am embarassed about the things they believe in. If a GOP potus were to aggressively defend himself, the moderates may end up rejecting all the norms of western civilization and run to the mountains to play-act the rest of their days as billy goats.

I mean, parts of the intelligence agencies have stated they will simply refuse to obey orders from him. He's already had a justice department official simply refuse to do what she was told. His own FBI director was leaking.

This has got to stop and surely he understands this, right? I expected a lot more competence and a lot shorter fuse from this guy.

176 This soap opera political drama doesn't interest me one way or the other but I am keeping an eye on what Trump is accomplishing outside of DC and I'm happy that work on the Wall is going to happen. Not because it's crucial to me but that Trump is keeping his promise for the most part. I like that Sanctuary cities are being fought and immigration from dangerous countries is being addressed. I like that pipelines are being built and regulations are being reviewed. I like that climate change faux science is being questioned. And finally I give both the Senate and Trump credit for Gorsuch. Can't wait for the next pick.

224 Lessons of Leadership

a tale from the life of Sun Tzu - he had come to a King who thought he could not win because his troops were no good. Sun Tzu told him "If the leader will properly apply Method and Discipline, the troops will follow." The King scoffed at this, and said sarcastically "You can train any troops to fight effectively? Here, show me - do some drills with my concubines here. (as was standard in the day, he had a large number of wives and concubines in his palace) Sun Tzu said "I will, but I must have absolute authority to do as I see fit, by your personal command." He was given such, and the King sat back and prepared to laugh.

Sun Tzu arranged them in ranks, before the king, and set the #1 wife as their captain. He explained the formation drills he wished to see done, and gave the order. Of course they collapsed in giggling and chaos. He said "Method must be explained, discipline must be enforced, and the troops will follow." So he carefully explained one more time to the #1 wife the maneuvers he wanted done, and told her that now she was in charge of getting the others to obey. He gave the orders again, but she did little and chaos was again the result.

Sun Tzu said quietly "Methods have been explained, now discipline must be enforced." He ordered the #1 wife to kneel before him, whereupon he instantly beheaded her. He left her body in front of the group of concubines, with her head still next to it, and informed the #2 wife that she was now the captain. He once more gave the order to perform the drill, and this time it was performed with precision, in perfect silence.

He approached the King and said "you see, if method is explained and discipline is applied, the soldiers will follow." The King said "You executed my favorite wife!!!" Sun Tzu said "If you did not wish to have discipline enforced, you should not have given me the authority to do so. You must know you own mind before you give orders to others."

(okay yeah, he was kind of an asshole)

301 Daily Beast has a review of last night's Game of Thrones, which included:

"Don't be too hard on Theon Greyjoy, the most brutalized character on Game of Thrones next to Sansa Stark,"

Theon gets captured by the sadistic psychopath Ramsay Bolton, who tortures Theon for months and months, occassionally staging escapes for Theon only to recapture poor Theon. This culminates when two hot chicks enter Theon's cell and seduce him. When he's at full arousal, Ramsay and his men enter the cell and castrate Theon. And there's more!

Sansa, you see, willingly married Ramsay. Her complaint is that Ramsay was a bit rough on their wedding night and made Theon watch (Theon is a kind of adopted brother to Sansa).

Usually vans from what I've seen. They call it Van Life.

I used to wonder about those clusters of vans in the back corner of the Wal Mart lot. Turns out the Van Lifers prefer to overnight in 24-hour big box store lots because the cops leave them alone unless the stores complain, and most big box stores won't call the cops if the Van Lifers don't bother anybody. They seek out the back corners for privacy and use those windshield-shades and curtains or other light-blockers on any side and rear windows.

I watched a really awesome series of videos on YT by a wildlife photographer (not a millenial, but an actual working man) who lives in his van for days or weeks at a time on assignment. His conversions were incredible. Just amazing.

Brother and sil sold their home in Charleston and got a fifth wheel trailer since they were moving to California and like hell were they paying CA housing prices.

That thing is very nice indeed and anymore the parks have full utility hookups including cable and wifi. The monthly fee is less than rent at a cheap place and they have a nice pool and can just hitch up and go to the mountains on a weekend if they want.

The only down side is that they have to switch parks every six months since otherwise CA considers it permanent housing and here come the taxes.

Though holy hell I can buy a decent condo here for the cost of the truck they got to tow it.

Posted by: Ace's liver at July 24, 2017 04:09 PM (Xuv2G)

Thing is, it's not a "trendy hipster thing". It's most definitely a political/social coercion thing, with the goal of getting people used to living in miserably tiny closet-sized spaces.

I've been seeing tiny house stories in magazines and online for close to 15 years now, with each story touting the movement as "new" and "trendy". No way that any movement has that kind of natural staying power. None. Nada. Nyet.

This tiny house thing is being PUSHED.

And you know who you might have come across overnighting it in the back parking lot with their RV? Clarence and Ginni Thomas, in their younger years.

And even converted Little Buses. I used to see them at the gym in the morning showering, before World Gym closed. They'd pay the 10 bucks a month basic membership and have a hot shower, sinks, even a sauna every day if they wanted.

Now our WG got bought out and it's tonier. Don't see the Van Lifers there much.

387 There are different kinds of leaks. Tony Mooch is going after the easiest to contain, out of the White House Comm Dept, which mostly drive the White House palace intrique stories.

Another category has helped promote Russiagate, sometimes with "leaks" of made up stuff.

The job market isn't going to get materially better until such time as the albatross of Obamacare is lifted from around the necks of hiring managers.

I idly muse in off moments about how nice it would be to have an incumbent Republican President who would absolutely SLEDGEHAMMER on this key point every single waking moment, shaming his weak and dubious allies in Clowngress into taking action.

Then I stop with such elaborate fantasizing, and turn my attention to more solidly grounded real-world concerns such as potential extraterrestrial life in the Tau Ceti system.

Of course none of us know what is actually going on WRT to the crime wave in the classified area. But, contrary to normal practice, in a concession to the circumstances, it behooves Sessions to actually say something about it. These are not normal times or normal crimes.

I'll retell my housing in SF story. Friend of a friend had a masters in biochemistry and did I don't know something medtechy. He had to have four roommates in order to afford the rent on his nice house.

His company got bought out by the Japanese who announced they were moving the company to Portland. He did not want to go because he loved living in the Bay area. My friend convinced him to go on the company sponsored trip up to the new HQ because, hey, free trip to Portland.

The company chartered a plane, took everyone up there and had them met at the airport by a couple of vans that just so happened to have realtors in them. The realtors helpfully pointed out the lovely area and the nice neighborhoods and, you know, how much the houses cost and did we mention that your company has set up a preferred borrower program with a local bank and, hey, look at that, your transfer bonus matches up nicely with the down payment on a three bedroom three and a half bath new construction home with a hot tub on the back porch.

Needless to say, he absolutely loves living in Portland.

Heck, why not: Tony "Scaramucci" Scaramucci.

And make sure when you pronounce the nickname, you bring the five fingertips of your right hand together, shake it twice, emphasize the "MU" in Scaramucci, and upon finishing the whole name, scrape the tips of your fingers against your chin in an outward flick.

Then spit. If you so desire.

There is no way I could live in that. My closet is bigger than that. I think my closet is 350 square feet.

If I downsized I'd want a nice bedroom with a nice Master bath, 1 guest room with a full bath that doubles as an office. i could handle 1500 square feet.

My house was built in the late 20's. The bedrooms are huge. They all have their own bath and the guest rooms all have 2 walk in closets. My mom insists that was rare.

My mother told me a lot of old houses didn't have closets, they used wardrobes.

There is no chance here unless you are politically connected and " have a good reason". Those are sneer quotes.

It makes me really angry, all the sheriffs can conceal carry, I guess some animals are more equal than others.
Posted by: CaliGirl at July 24, 2017 04:38 PM (Ri/rl)

Used to be like that here too. Pretty much you could get a permit if your job required it, or if you were a cop, or a retired cop. Everyone else got to pound sand.

Still not easy, but it can be done. Seems like they give 'em to people who can show they tend to carry expensive stuff around, like business owners who do night drops and such.

We shouldn't have to prove necessity. When the cops retire as long as they keep passing their qualifying they can still conceal carry.
