David Harsanyi writes at the Federalist that the right to free speech is indeed endangered. And this isn't just a rhetorical claim; the right to free speech is really, genuinely likely to be eroded into a dead letter within 5 to 10 years.

Here in rural east Tennessee we are being over run by new arrivals from the west coast as never before. In the last six weeks alone I have installed new fencing for 3 from Oregon, 3 from California, and 1 from Seattle, not to mention the usual halfbacks coming from Florida. Being in construction I talk to builders and the other trades daily and they report far more then just the ones I am aware of that need a fence in our small community. Now that they have succeeded and have control of the media, colleges, etc. they want to cement their position and destroy the ladder they climbed to get there. Now free speech must be saddled with limits, and of course they get to decide what the limits are. (In other words, free speech will be over. Even in a dictatorship you have free speech to say approved things! In other words, freedom to say approved things is not free speech at all.)

So if Teen magazine wants to write articles about anal sex, that's acceptable free speech; but if a conservative wants to talk about the harm that Obamacare is doing, that might well be ruled "hate speech" and shut down.

I am deeply grateful that we got Trump. A few more Supreme Court justices being handed over to reliable liberals and the damage would have been unrecoverable. As it is I am hopeful that we can recover.

The new thing seems to be universities making the hosting group (college Republicans, etc.) hire security. They played this game with Milo, attempting to price him out of being invited because the security cost was too high for the groups. And also, as in a Chicago speech, the hired security/cops did nothing when protesters* jumped on stage to shout and take swings at him.

*One of these lovlies being the daughter of an administrator for Chicago PD

My daughter is a postgraduate student at a university in Southern California and was invited to a conference in Dallas Texas that pertains to her field of study.Normally the university would help cover some of the cost but since California does not allow money to be spent in Texas because of the bathroom laws we'll have to cover the entire cost on our own

157 My take, from personal experiences with people I've known, and which may be complete horseshit, was that male homosexuality and female homosexuality were usually completely different things (with always some notable exceptions that don't fit the rule.)

From what I've seen, male gays generally adore women (especially their mothers) and strive to be women in every way possible. Lesbians, in my experience, generally hate men and strive to NOT be men in every way possible. (although since they also hate women who like men, they end up acting like really weird men anyways) But I do think a lot of the female homosexuality stems from early sexual abuse at the hands of some man - I've known of that happening way too many times. Men, on the other hand, don't become gay because of abuse; sadly, they usually become abusers themselves.

so that's my anecdotal take on the issue.

and I have known a couple of women who should have been born men. I can't explain it, but I've seen it, and I really always felt pretty sorry for them.

Speaking for myself, it seems readily apparent that there is no sin being committed by lesbians, and I, as a Christian, see no virtue (and indeed, much harm) in condemning them on the basis of a reverse-engineered church tradition. There is no discernible sin being committed by two women who decide they like each other enough to be in a relationship.

I also caution other Christians about condemning them, as there is a penalty to be paid by the faithful among us, as well, for burdening others unduly with laws that have their root in man's mind, not God's declaration.

b. Keep voting R, resulting in the Rs making no change to what they're doing (not doing) now because why should they?

c. Vote for R primary challengers and hope they aren't quickly neutralized, assimilated or compromised (see Ryan, Paul).

d. Vote for some third party candidate (see Kang/Kodos).

e. Vote for Democrats expressly to accelerate the impending collapse.

In short, I see no hope for us, politically speaking. None. Powerless.

Have I missed any important points? I don't want to overstate the gravity of what we're facing but I don't want to downplay anything either.

I've been turning my Biblical studies to the rules of sexuality of late, I'm quite curious how much of our rulesets is Scripture, and how much is manmade law passed down over centuries. The church of today is no more immune to Pharasetical infestation than the church of yesteryear, or the Jews of Christ's era.

There is a wealth of information and historical context out there... it's going to be an interesting study.

FWIW, the easiest rule of thumb is probably "if in doubt, don't." I can't think of any time I've felt the need to justify or rationalize when I was doing what I knew was right.

Of course, that doesn't allow for normalizing sin. Again, my sins are no better or worse than the normal guys looking for bathroom marriages, but I also don't insist that my private sins are something you need to accept as normal to make me feel better about my private choices, either.

As refutation since you very aptly pointed out that "when in doubt, don't", which acknowledges the doubt that exists, I would quote Paul and say to let each man (or woman) have his own conviction before God about the matter.

To this point, all we have is people either making jokes, or being angry (in a polite way) about the assertion, founded upon actual Scripture, and rebutting the assertion with their own feelings, not a hint of Scripture.

This is largely the reason the church is in the sorry state it's in these days; the church body as a whole has no answer for the problems facing the world because most of them do not read Scripture, and don't know it well enough to answer challenge.

Your argument appears to be that sex with men (outside of marriage) is bad, sex with animals is bad, but sex with other women (which is automatically outside of marriage and at best is fornication) is fine. I agree with the commenter who asked why women should be held to a lower standard.

My advice to spend time honestly asking the author was not snark and remains my advice.

But hey, I'll give it a shot. To your question, 'What sin are two lesbians committing?' The answer would be fornication, which would hold true for any non-married couple having sex. The same would hold true for me, since the woman I've been with for almost ten years, the love of my life, doesn't believe in marriage.

Am I wrong for complying with such an arrangement? Yes, but I love her and won't risk losing her by demanding she marry me.

Does God love me? Yes. Will he understand? Will he forgive me? Yes.

My love for her and God's love for me (for both of us) doesn't make it right. Living with her and sleeping with her without marriage remains a sin.

Part of accepted behavior is that I must have sex with someone I love before marriage-that it's obligatoy and as several corollary to the,t if i find someone attractive and love them, i perforce must have sex with them. I still am hoping for some engagement on the underlying question of what Scripture says, but I appreciate (very much) your honest reply, especially since it's an amiable one. Seems like anytime I ask a question, the majority of the church burns all the way straight to hostility... and then wonders why their churches are empty.

The premise is immediately wrong, since I stated unequivocally at the outset that it is plainly said that men with men is stated flat-out to be wrong in Scripture, right there in Leviticus.
You can say 'without snark', but the moment you lobbed the word accusation, the post took on quite a different meaning. o.o
I shall indeed press on asking the Author, because there are significant gaps in our knowledge base and illogical jumps on many a topic since the days Scripture was written, and I am eager to understand all that can be known.

Indeed, this life holds nothing so interesting to me as the love God has for all mankind, and to know exactly what the Lord is saying, with precision and without human distortion, and to communicate the real depths of His love and teachings to the world is my only real passion.
