OJ Simpson Granted Parole; Exuberantly Shouts "I'm Goin' to Disneyland and Killing Some Folks!"

So, the Juice is loose again.

Testifying at his parole hearing, he said he'd lived a "conflict free" life and not a "criminal life."

He also said he intended to move back to Florida if granted parole, which sounds an awful lot like a threat.

Based on that photo, OJ has finally found the Real Killer, and the real killer turns out to be pre-diabetic syndrome.

72 I have a "zonker" etymology theory, ace.

From my comment late in the last thread:
"OK, I think I'm onto something with the rhyming slang.

Conk as a slang word for break, fall, slow down, go to sleep, die out dates to 1915-20 in the US. Of course a lot of US and UK crossover happens because of WWII.

Conk out leads to zonk out (again, rhyming slang), as in put to sleep or later be high on drugs. So maybe a zonker is a drug that are effective at causing one to zonk out (go to sleep or get high). Zonkers would then be the logical form of more than one zonker.

That's zonkers!"

I was an accounting clerk in an office in a then largely African American city area, that at first glance one would have thought was a Benetton Ad for diversity.

Yes, work stopped waiting for the verdict.

When the verdict was announced, it was, regrettably, a jubilant cheer among the African (anti?) Americans at the office, and there were many, while the White/Asian/Latino among us just gasped.

The office was *never* the same again. Fortunately, I found a better job soon afterwards.

to myself "this is the most stupid, boring shit I have ever seen!" but everybody else seemed to want to keep watching it.

And my assessment of this story has never changed from that initial impression, 15 minutes after I first became aware of it.

Heh. The day before, I had just reported to my ship in San Diego after finishing "A" and "C" schools. Having somefree time, I went to check out the amenities that San Diego had to offer. I wound up seeing the chase on TV in a nudie bar right next to I-5. Everyone was watching the chase and ignoring the dancers and planning on rushing out to the parking lot to watch theBronco go by if he made it that far. Even the dancers were glued to the TV, basically just going up on the stage, leaning against the pole and half-heartedly gyrating while watching the chase. They were so immersed they weren't even bothering to try to collect tips.

FBI profiling pioneer John Douglas surveyed the crime scene shortly after the murder. The killer's focus on Nicole Simpson was the tell. Goldman was quickly and brutally dispatched, almost as an afterthought. Nicole was the target, the object of wrath. To this day, there is no doubt in Douglas' mind that Simpson was the killer.

301 So why doesn't he do a 2 hour special pay for view with a retrospect, an interview then a reenactment of exactly how he sawed his wife's head nearly off.

I would expect a $50 million gate on this if it's promoted right.

Pay the wife's family their share and pocket the rest.

302 Yeah the press did a great job of covering up OJ's evil. And to be fair, Nicole did turn away the cops a few times too when she should have burned him and left him long before. At some level I kind of understand but my sympathy for women who stay and stay with someone who beats and crushes them over and over is limited.

The thing is, until he hacked the heads off two people and ran from the police on his way to the airport, OJ was universally liked as a good guy. He was hilarious in the Naked Gun movies, he was an amazing football player, he seemed like a decent guy you could pal around with. Nobody knew about the many phone calls to the police by a desperate and battered wife because they cops were real careful to cover that up. Posted by: Christopher R Taylor at July

The big semi comes in monthly, with whatever leftover, cheapest vendor, recently expired "stuff" the State could glean. The kitchens meal plan off that.

393 The thing is, until he hacked the heads off two people and ran from the police on his way to the airport, OJ was universally liked as a good guy. He was hilarious in the Naked Gun movies, he was an amazing football player, he seemed like a decent guy you could pal around with. Nobody knew about the many phone calls to the police by a desperate and battered wife because they cops were real careful to cover that up.

This is accurate. From the moment he flew back from Chicago with a cut on his hand and a convenient lie about breaking a glass I thought "that's incriminating", but still wanted to believe him.

I wanted to believe as the evidence kept piling up and then, of course, I couldn't.

But we didn't know he was a serial wife-beater. He was that loveable guy who had de-racialized himself, seemed the epitome of the American Dream, coming from nothing and becoming an icon.

It took a while and a lot of evidence to get all that out of my head and recognize a monster.

461 Frankly there wasn't much in the 90s to recommend the decade at all. Very few highlights. But there were a few good things such as Rush Limbaugh's ascendance, the Simpsons were actually funny then, movies like Fight Club, The Mummy, The Big Lebowski, Office Space, Fargo, Sandlot, Goodfellas, Galaxy Quest, Casino, and Independence Day came out in the 90s.

Mostly though, just a regrettable time.

How about ANYTHING sold by GM in the 90's?

At classic car rallies, you find a lot of stuff from the 50's, the 60's, and the 70's. There are even a few good models from the 80's, although they're more rare.

GM didn't make a single damned thing that anyone thought was worth hanging onto for that entire damn decade. It was all crap, just pure crap. Wonder why the foreign manufacturers got so dominant? That's where it happened.

Look around, today, the only 90's cars you'll still see around are a few beaters owned by people who can't get enough together to get rid of them.

(b) The 1995 Oklahoma City federal building bombing. I loathe Fedzilla now, I did then, but the mass murder of ordinary workaday federal employees in the bowels of the beast doesn't pass moral muster.

(c) The 1996 Khobar Towers bombing. Yet another example of the perfumed princes in D.C. putting American service members into the insanely unstable and dangerous Middle East, without realistic force-protection measures in place. Yeah, and unlike the riots in the 60s, they had no reason to bet that upset. 616 The thing is, Halford being gay isn't the same as, say, RuPaul being gay because he dresses up but he just does his songs and rocks hard. He's not gaying up the gayness of gayitude all the time, he doesn't "celebrate" it or sing songs about how great it is for men to marry or anything. Yeah a lot of his songs can be interpreted to be about homosexual activity, but they don't need to be. He's a metal rocker who just happens to be homosexual rather than a homosexual who happens to be something else.

I don't care what your private perversions are if you keep them to yourself. I don't wanna hear details about heterosexual activities from coworkers, either. Its private, keep it that way.

Blessed? Whether the show could make me laugh once in a while doesn't make me like it. It was one of the worst examples of sitcom ever written. There was nothing endearing, lasting, or interesting about the show, it was just setups for one gag after another, and that's it. There was nothing intelligent or meaningful, they didn't build any stories, it was just setup, gag, setup, gag, setup, gag, commercial, repeat, repeat, credits. I can barely stand anything with a laugh track to begin with, but at least some comedy shows have something to them beyond just the joke.

Now you see, that's just wrong.

I was having a conversation with a Millennial recently and referenced a line out of "The Godfather". She didn't know what I was talking about.

That signaled that she was ignorant of 21st century American culture, just as an unread person in the 1900's would be viewed by someone who had a formal education.

"Friends" was part of the culture and as such required any informed person to at least have seen one or two episodes to be able to absorb similarities or references to show that came up in normal conversation.

There are numerous TV shows, movies, albums and other media that any well-rounded person is expected to be aware of.

Take some time to catch up.
