16 Looks like Massachusetts is about to contribute to the national idiocy today. According to a brief snippet on the radio, today is the 325th (I think) anniversary of five women being hung / hanged in Salem for witchcraft. A descendant of one (Rebecca Nurse) is scheduled to speak at a memorial service.

You may expect a lengthy screed about Trump and his poisoned atmosphere of hate and intolerance being just like Salem and that all right-thinking, sexually-loving-science people must RESIST WE MUCH!

25 More Noos. Today is Wednesday, July 19, 2017. On this day in 1979 the communist Sandinista rebels overthrew the government of the Somoza family in Nicaragua. The Democrats were happy to see this occur and fought RR tooth and nail to make sure the US did not provide any assistance to resist them even though other outside communists were assisting the communists.

80 Husband and I spent a lot of time attending Catholic services when we moved from SC to OH. Joined one congregation because it was small and rural. That lasted about 6 months. The constant droning about money when Father should have been teaching about our faith finally drove us out.
On the recommendation of family we joined a faith community. Not part of the diocese and mostly 60 to 70 year olds. Enjoyed it until PDT was elected.
Now once again we are being lectured, not about money, about climate change.
Last Sunday it was how PDT disrespected the Pope. Seems that PDT didn't change his opinion on the Paris Climate Accords after meeting the Pope. The Pope is insulted!

98 IL Sexual abuse

In 2003, Illinois made significant changes to the statute of limitations. In relevant part, the statute of limitations, states:

"an action for damages for personal injury based on
childhood sexual abuse must be commenced within 10 years of the date [a
person turns 18] or within 5 years of the date the person abused
discovers or through the use of reasonable diligence should discover
both (i) that the act of childhood sexual abuse occurred and (ii) that
the injury was caused by the childhood sexual abuse. The fact that the
person abused discovers or through the use of reasonable diligence
should discover that the act of childhood sexual abuse occurred is not,
by itself, sufficient to start the discovery period under this
subsection (b). Knowledge of the abuse does not constitute discovery of
the injury or the causal relationship between any later-discovered
injury and the abuse." ILCS § 5/13-202.2(b)

176 BTW, another thing I enjoyed got ruined for me the other day.

I don't know how many of you have heard of the cartoon The Loud House on Nickelodeon. It's about one boy and his ten sisters of varying ages. It's nicely written and funny - though I didn't care for the SJW trope of making Lincoln's (the protagonist) best friend have two fathers.

Still and all, I watched until the other day when I caught a new episode. It seems that a love note is found addressed to "L," and since all of the kids' names begin with that letter, they think it's meant for them. It isn't, of course, it's from the mother to the father (whose name is Lynn).

But because of the mixup, all of the kids decide to grab the bull by the horn and send love notes to their own special someone. One of the girls decides to drop a note in the locker of her friend "Sam". . .

Who turns out to be "Samantha."

And this is supposed to be a grade-school children's cartoon. So much for that. Program now "off" permanently for me.

282 What is it that has made our society seemingly incapable of self-defense?

My first inkling of the severity of the problem dealt with the way "terrorists" were defined and handled. When I was in the .mil, we learned what soldiers were required to do in order not to be shot as spies, or enemy combatants. There are laws of war, as it were.

An important one, is that one wears a recognizeable uniform. And carries a weapon openly. Has an identifiable rank structure, is part of a military unit, has an ID card etc. These are part of the Geneva Convention or the Hague, I expect. The point here - is folks who run around blowing stuff up - are not signatories to these conventions, and are by definition unlawful enemy combatants.

I knew we were fucked as a country, when none of this was acknowledged, and the media kept talking about trials in court. As if acts of war were simply criminal matters. Think about how many thousands of foreign fighters - and that's what they are - are sprinkled around.

Consider all of the data breaches, purposeful or not, and the level of coordination that these people are afforded, and the possibilities for mischief are truly frightening.

There is something very, very rotten going on, and has been for a long time.

283 >>Get a vote iin the Senate on Obama care repeal, even if it fails. Put names on the record. Votors have short records, and this will make a permnent record. Polititions like to ply this trick of publicly supporting someting they privately oppose if they know the vote wll never happen, and visa versa on oppose but privately support.

This of course assumes the voters of their states will punish them for their vote. If you think the voters of Maine and Alaska are going to punish Collins and Murkowski for not supporting repeal I've got some bad news for you.

285 There was a tall attractive youngish woman who sounded Polish or Russian talking our order at the breakfast place. She was wearing a plastic rainbow bracelet which said "Gay Pride". I still don't get it.
If gay is innate, why are you proud of it?. I'm not proud of being straight (I was born that way) and to me one's sexual orientation seems something odd to be proud of. I'm sure there are plenty of things the woman could be proud of other than that. If this is intended as a response to people she perceives as homophobic, well it's probably not convincing them. I'm not trying to start a big debate on the issue of being gay (as i've said numerous times I hope I take people as who they are as people. There are straight people I like and straight people I don't. The same is true of gay people) I am not on board with performing marriages for gay people in the church although I have had very nice gay members couples in the church which I have served. However, if I asked this woman what was the meaning of her bracelet-she probably wouldn't take that well. It's really none of my business to ask the waitress that and I didn't.

311 On Monday a 17-year-old Spokane County, Washington, girl called her father and asked permission to grab a gun before using the firearm to fend off a robbery suspect.
The incident began when a police chase ended with a stolen car around Wandermere at 5 a.m.

After deputies set up a perimeter to look for the suspect, KHQ used their morning news show to alert locals that the suspect was on the loose. Shortly after the news broke, Kimber Woods boyfriend and parents left for work, leaving her in the home alone. Her boyfriend then came across the deputies, asked them about the search, and decided to call Kimber and alert her that the suspect might be coming right at her.

Kimber responded by calling her dad and asking if she could grab one of his guns for protection. Her father answered in the affirmative and Kimber grabbed a handgun and placed it under her pillow. She fell asleep and awoke to the sounds of someone in her house.

She hid behind her vanity, only to have the suspect walk right up to her. Kimber pointed the gun at the suspect and said, Who are you? She added, Get the (expletive) out of my house!

Kimber said the suspects eyes got really wide and he took off running. She said he stole her boyfriends ATV to escape.

Outstanding

324 I just came to a terrible realization.

I always found it funny that every time some major legislation is about to go for a vote, we suddenly get a slew of polls that show just how dang popular the democratic party is, even as they hold historic lows in elected offices.

I mean Donald Trump, and virtually every other Republican, got elected RUNNING full steam on Obamacare repeal just last November. They didn't moderate, or try to hide their positions from the public. They were for complete and total repeal. They said so in their campaigns. They said so in their debates. They said so in interviews. Every person who voted for Republicans understood this. It was the defining issue that gave the GOP control of all three branches of federal government, plus total domination in state legislatures. Promise to repeal Obamacare gave the party their most successful electoral success possibly in history.

And now, all of a sudden, just months after winning elections in a landslide running on repeal, we get bombarded with polls that say Americans just LOVE obamacare now! Suddenly, within months, a law that polled for 7 years straight at 30% now suddenly jumps to +50%.

Suddenly, a democratic party holding its lowest levels of offices since Reconstruction, a party that can't win elections, suddenly has a 12-15 point advantage on the congressional ballot.

Yeah, sure. Whatever.

Anyway, my terrible realization is not that the media extorts the truth and conducts push polling to influence public opinion rather than reflect it. That's kind of obvious.

No, the sad truth is that the media gets its power not by influencing the public, who has grown far to wise to believe their nonsense, but by successfully influencing the GOP establishment, who treats the media as gospels of truth. An establishment that operates on the singular purpose of trying to stay in the media's good graces, in the hopes of not provoking their wrath. An establishment stuck in an eternal state of fear of the media and their narratives.

The GOPe still believes that the media can crush anyone who opposes their narratives, and so like trained dogs hold their bark for their masters. Unlike Trump, they simply refuse to fight back.

151 MN is trying out a "terrorist rehabilitation" program. A stupid waste of taxpayer dollars. The only rehabilitation program I know that works is a bullet to the head.

----

Those types of programs are working wonders over there in Sweden and Germany.

350 So - these leftards in the MSM are really entering new levels of mental retardation -

Top Trump story today " Trump had undisclosed Meeting with Putin, alone at G20"

White House response - "This is a lie. The President was at a scheduled, publicly known, dinner with all leaders at G20, which the press knew of and was invited to cover. While there Trump exchanged pleasantries with Putin as he did with all other leaders present, and this was in full view of the press and others at the dinner."

Follow up leftard MFM response:

"Trump confirms undisclosed meeting with Putin at G20"

Really? I mean really? These people are seriously deranged

352 The UK still has twice-a-day mail delivery and Saturday delivery (although that might just be the once).

And Gabe Malor fully supported her in that, and in her two court cases (that had mutually-exclusive arguments as I recall).

354 A prayer for for fighting depression:

God in Heaven, I do not know why you let us feel alone, without you, when fighting depression, but please let us know that our friends in the grey boxes wouldn't leave us alone, that they would be with us physically if they could, and that they would share the burden of sorrow as well, to help us thru the dark times, and that help would be Your help.

355 That's just like one of Flynn's "meetings" with the Russian ambassador... at a cocktail party while also talking to six other people in the group at the same time.

357 The GOPe will fight other Republicans to the death in order to preserve their power. See Murkowski, and Thad Cochran. I will never forget that the GOPe used leftist scorched-earth tactics in order to keep that doddering old fool in "his" Senate seat.

358 My dad said most everybody worked on Saturdays back in the day. The five day workweek is a relatively recent deal.

Thank the UNIONS for inventing the weekend!
