Disagree - actually Caan DOES piece it together, and he's the only one. Everyone else is too busy telling each other how wonderful things are or working as hard as they can to cover up what's really happening. No one else will even dare to ask any questions. They THINK he's dumb because he's a rollerballer, but that's the key to the movie, I believe - he isn't at all, and he's even smart enough not to show them his cards.
I find it a remarkably prophetic movie - especially in how degraded and violence obsessed society has become. And how shallow, and how willing to allow entertainment to take the place of everything. I often feel as though I am living in the Rollerball world today.

My father in law was a cop for over thirty years, 50's to the 80's. Said there were a lot of those "cops killed cleaning their gun" accidents back in the old days.

I'll watch Gutfeld but that's once a week on Sat. nights. I watch it on Sunday morning on Youtube while I have my coffee. I watch Howard Kurtz if I catch it on streaming. He's a pretty straight shooter. And occasionally-very occasionally, I'll watch The Five streaming, if I'm really bored.
I prefer Hannity's radio show to his TV show.

The reason for the cops doing that is a mercy. No months of arguing with the insurance companies (who don't like to pay things they actually, legitimately owe) and a mercy so there's at least a little bit of relief from "could I have stopped this?" questioning.

My BIL is a cop and the double standards are amazing. He is our designated driver sometimes. He'll drive 85 on the freeway because he won't get a speeding ticket. That really pisses me off.

Aubrey left behind well over $100 million in debts that his creditors had to eat. And because it was ruled an accident, Aubrey left his family over $8 Million in Life Insurance proceeds that none of his creditors can touch.
Gotta hand it to him, that's a heck of a way to make an exit.

Great movie. Gets better with age. Kinda like the book 1984. Dystopia and a sliver of a ray of hope.
You knew Johnathan knew the real game and was ready to go balls to the wall when he forced the hospital to keep Moonpie alive despite their desperate efforts to get him to acquiesce to their rules. He became the crusader personified.
I've had to watch it several times over many years to really grasp the message as age provides wisdom and insight. Again, great film.

He was identified as Matthew Harrity, a community service officer since 2016. So I'm guessing he was the more experienced officer and probably the one trying to resuscitate her on scene when it was called in.

So, he wants to be a Texan. I was on 1-20 headed east of Dallas yesterday. I set the cruise control at 82, kept it there for a full 2 hours, and I was passed frequently.
When I say it's like Nascar, I mean you seriously will sometimes see 9 or 10 cars all lined up tight drafting, doing 90+. You gotta make sure and get out of the way if you see a block like that coming up on you. Days of Thunder every day out there now.

It does, the trick is doing a suicide that doesn't look like a suicide so it gets ruled an accident. There was one guy near Austin a few years back, state official had been caught stealing and selling documents out of the official archives, wanted to make his death look like a murder. He waded out into a shallow part of the Brazos river, iirc, and shot himself in the head. But he had tied an inflated balloon to the pistol so once he dropped, it would float down the river and no one would find it.
Can't remember how that one got figured out, it was a death worthy of a Columbo plot.
