A Fine Whine, Pungent and Quirky: Donald Trump Blocked Me on Twitter and It's Destoying Muh Careers!

Jesus wept giggled.

Most of my writing is about the Trump administration. In fact, my mandate from Pacific Standard is “Trump and the law.” On Twitter, the bulk of my recent follower growth and new relationships with others in the politico-legal sphere have come out of responding quickly when the president tweets and engaging the threads of conversation that flow from those tweets.

So when President Donald Trump blocked me in June, apparently for suggesting that Russia influenced the outcome of the 2016 election, he harmed me professionally. Even though I knew @realDonaldTrump was important to my career, it still took me at least a few days to recognize how being blocked by the president on Twitter would affect me as a public intellectual...

Gone now is my ability to participate in the timeliest and most robust conversations around law, policy, and politics on Twitter—those around the president’s tweets.

Of course, she can just go on Twitter in a different browser, as a guest, and see all of Trump's tweets. But what she's complaining about is that she doesn't get to have her #SickBurnz listed as replies to his tweets, where Very Important People can see them and retweet them and help her get Opportunities For Further Lucrative Tweeting.

...

Every day I’m blocked I lose opportunities to advance my views and engage others'—literally the reason a reader follows a writer’s work, the substance a publication pays a writer for—in these conversations. I can’t fire off a 140-word tweet, create a thread, or share pieces I write to drive discussion within these very conversations . That quick click I thought was so inconsequential is constraining my career in ways I have yet to fully appreciate.

This is the sort of bent Millennial whiner who should (Don't end on a preposition, Ace) up with which shut the fuck.

Below, two videos I've linked before, but never with such vim.

Part of the problem is these people think they can monetize followers, and I guess some of them are. But since they can't use trump to get that anymore, they're going to use "TRUMP BLOCKED ME" to get people to donate to their Patreon.

76 It is truly surreal to watch the freakouts over Trump blocking someone. I think its the same mindset that thinks putting someone on an insulting "list" on Twitter is some sick burn that will ruin their day.

Really? Putting me on #KKKonservativesWhoHateChildren will crush me?

I just can't work out that sort of worldview, or how someone like that makes it through the day. Its like morphing into a girl on her first period.

This is what 9/11 did: it forced people living in this bizarre bubble to realize the rest of the world and what matters for real. For a few minutes, at least. That's where the real horror was for them. That and the realization that New York City isn't invincible and safe from the evils of the world, of course. But even that was merely forcing them to see that bad stuff doesn't just happen over there, to those people.

She played the part right, they kept the suspense up for quite a while.
So it's not to say it *can't* work. My biggest concern is that this is a move by a showrunner who wants to leave a mark, but can't do it via writing/producing, so he's going for the gimmick. So instead of being good it'll just be drab.

Tom Baker will always be THE Doctor. I don't care what anyone else says.

Also, I mentioned it on Twitter but I'll reiterate here, using language the SJW feebs will understand: Instead of forcibly colonizing traditional male roles, work on creating a
new landscape where male female roles coexist equally.

But that's too hard and involves work, and lazy Millennial SJWs especially aren't up for that.

Red Barron tastes almost exactly like Jack's (Kraft's brand) but costs more (usually a buck or 2) why should I pay that?

And if I want something that tastes better a few local joints now sell frozen pizzas (say what you want about St. Louis Style, but it freezes great.)

I have no idea what to make of any of it.

Lots of articles saying the current companion was the "first openly gay companion."

But Captain Jack was on the show in 2009, the Torchwood spin off revolved around him. I guess you could say he was "bi-sexual" but they made a point of making him mostly gay.
And not really in a SJW way either. He was a bombastic American soldier, who was a character you could build a spinoff around. The whole gay part was more of a character quirk than anything.

Probably if you were gay, Torchwood was the greatest show evah.

Practically every episode had this general format.

1) Danger from some source or new information that was dangerous to get

2) The team prepares and is just about to go on it's most dangerous mission yet!!!!

3) Captain Jack(?) sez "Oooops, time out for teh ghey!" and flounces off

4) 5-10 minutes of graphic ghey sex.

5) Captain Jack back and ready to go having recharged his Ghey Powah!

6) Mission accomplished!

7) New danger stuff appears

Continued next week.

9) Rinse/repeat till finale with downbeat victory that's really a defeat.

I will tell you what it was. They saw Captain Jack as a gay character, not a character who happened to be gay. They thought the sexuality part was more important than the rest of what it takes to be a quality, likable, popular character.

355 Someone good with a script, screen writing, producing and directing, needs to:

* Get an original, Red Baron pizza carton, one with the manly Red Baron pictured thereon.

* Gather all the historic photographs and reportage of the "With Full Honors", treatment the Brits gave to von Richtoven, after they'd recovered his body. I've seen many of the photographs, and they really went all out.

* Get a bunch of age appropriate actors, wearing true to the vintage photos British uniforms, and recreate "With Honors" events, as well as can be done, on video.

* But in this case, the Red Baron to be interred will be the Manly Red Baron Pizza BOX.

Thus making a big deal of sending the Red Baron off WITH HONORS, and solidifying the thought out there, that anyone trying to follow in his footsteps is a poseur and a fraud.

Won't be a cheap You Tube to make, but it sure would be a fun one, and I think would go instantly viral.

I know there's some among Teh Horde, that do this stuff for a living. J.J., and who else?

356 Also: members of the left believe themselves to be "virtuous." Can virtue be claimed by the individual, or is a quality that can only be conferred by others?

The virtues are prudence, justice, fortitude, and temperance. None of which any leftist exhibits nor understands. Viutuousness is a practice, not a quality. One "exhibits" virtue when demonstrating prudence, for example. Prudence guides moral application to circumstances and judgement.

Why anyone on the Left thinks they're virtuous is a mystery. If morality is relative there is no objective good to select for, there can be no virtue.

Posted by: Blue Hen at July 17, 2017 03:37 PM (326rv)

426 I like visiting Chicago.
Great architecture. Great museums.
Great music. Great food.
Great lake (heh.) And Cubs!

But I'll admit that I probably wouldn't have visited more than once if Mr DeV didn't have relatives in the area.

Attraction?

Eh? But it's an easy weekend get away with new food and different stuff to do.

Yeah I mean that's the problem. Absent sis up there I'd probably go once a decade or less.

The tourism gambit seems to be primarily pulling volume of people in any given weekend only to have them not return for a while. It works well enough I suppose. Just look at the line for Shedd.

But if I want a vacation, I want to either a) escape the rat race entirely or b) go somewhere I'll only go once or twice in my life.

everything in chicago is more expensive the in the surrounding states. no one is going to go to chicago for an easy and inexpensive weekend. if you are going to go to chicago and have fun you are going to have to pay up, which is fine.

Of course he blocked her. The asshole was earning a living by giving him shit. Who's going to take that.
