Susan Rice: I Think I'm Being Investigated for Unmasking My Political Enemies Because of Racism and Sexism
Playing the racism and sexism cards is virtually a giant "I'M GUILTY" banner.
In an interview with journalist Michael Tomasky for New York Magazine, Rice reportedly questioned the criticism she’s faced dating back to the Benghazi controversy. “Why me? Why not Jay Carney, for example, who was then our press secretary, who stood up more?” she asked. Tomasky noted in the piece that Carney “isn’t an African-American woman, of course” and apparently asked Rice whether that is the key factor. Rice, in response, left the door open: “I don’t know… I do not leap to the simple explanation that it’s only about race and gender. I’m trying to keep my theories to myself until I’m ready to come out with them. It’s not because I don’t have any.”Two other people are subpoenaed in the matter: White male James Clapper and white female Samantha Powers.
But Rice mentioned other prominent female figures – like Hillary Clinton and Condoleezza Rice – who faced “ad hominem” attacks, suggesting a correlation.

The only known crime in this whole Russian thing is Flynn being the victim of a leaker. There's not a single other specific allegation of anything that's a crime.
Flynn was a loose cannon but what happened to him was despicable.
Someone gave Former Temp AG Sally Yates the unmasked transcript of his call with the Russian Ambassador. Yates used it to catch Flynn in a perjury trap and then someone leaked it all to MSM, to force Flynn's firing. Flynn was only guilty of telling VP Pence a fib about what he said to the Ambassador, which Flynn might not have clearly remembered.
That leaker is most likely Susan Rice and/or Ben Rhodes (who used to report directly to Rice).

Sad to say, but why get all excited about this if Susan Rice will not only suffer zero consequences but will no doubt get a book deal, TV appearances and a teaching spot at Princeton or wherever.

Her rep was largely based on her Reagan-era Cold War scholarship. I first read some of her essays in the mid-80s (I used to read a lot of strategy stuff for fun in those days). But I don't remember anything particularly innovative or attention-getting in those essays though. Kind of conventional is my recollection.
As I recall, she was kind of a star among the US-supporting academics. I suspect that her complexion had a lot to do with it.

True story:
A girl I knew in college was blonde and of Dutch ancestry. BUT...her father worked for Exxon and the family was stationed at an Iranian oil field (in the Shah days) when she was born -- so technically she was "born in Iran" and had the birth certificate to prove it, from an Iranian hospital.
Well, she found out there was some special scholarship fund which was INTENDED for Muslim students, but the university rules stated that scholarships couldn't be based on one's religious beliefs, so the rich Muslim groups in charge of the fund made it specifically for people born in certain countries -- all of which were 99% Muslim countries, of course.
Totally unashamed to take their money, she applied for the scholarship and sent along a copy of her birth certificate as proof she qualified. She was awarded the scholarship.
I wasn't there when she walked in to the office for the scholarship ceremony, but from her description, the looks on their faces were priceless!

After Mother Hate died, I had to get her jewelry valued for insurance purposes. I took them to some place in downtown Cleveland where you had to get buzzed in and the guy was going through everything normally until he got to some diamond earrings that Father Hate gave her for giving up smoking; the guy said "these are fake". I was incredulous so he brought in someone else who confirmed it; good fakes but still fake.
I don't have anyone who would know this but it's extremely unlikely that my father got ripped off because he probably got them from some place on Lombard Street in Baltimore where, at the time, if you didn't know where you were going you wouldn't get out of the fucking car. My guess is he got her fakes to see if she really would quit smoking, which of course didn't happen, and if she did would subsequently replace them with real ones on the sly. But I don't have any way to know that and it still bugs me.

A national security briefing for Senate Judiciary Committee members was scuttled Wednesday after a top Democrat invoked a procedural rule to delay the closed-door meeting.

That's a recipe for disaster, given the situation, this time.

Unlike some, quite content to see Teh Donald rampaging on twatter. No real harm in it, lots of entertainment. But it could we weaponized a bit, coordinated with other admin. tools to turn the tables in the public square.

Oh yes.
Just picture that. Gotta say, though a tyrant and scumbag, he did bring some cool and style to the role. There were the uniforms with epaulets out of some silent-film era comedy.
And best of all, the all-female bodyguard of hawt Cubanas in snappy unis with berets. Now THAT is what I'd be doing if I were a dictator with oil.

IIRC there was an issue with Yates not providing transcripts of what Flynn had actually said and her using this to Flynn's disadvantage. What he said may have had something to do with the additional sanctions Obama put on while he was walking out the door. Flynn may not have remembered it as well as the written transcript.
Or he lied to protect himself and/or Trump and got caught with the leaking.
