22 Neville 1967 -- In the 60th plate of his poem, 'Jerusalem,' Blake speaks of the tower of Babel. I am sure you are all familiar with the story of how the tower contained multiple voices so that no one understood the other. Today, even though we and those in Romania, Bulgaria, and Czechoslovakia live in what is referred to as democratic countries, we do not mean the same kind of democracy. To us democracy is based upon the principle of compromise, but not the compromise of principle as they do. So the world is Babel and Blake makes this statement: 'Babel mocks saying, there is no God or Son of God. That thou O Human Imagination, O Divine Body, art all a delusion. But I know thee, O Lord.' (Here Blake calls his own human imagination, 'Lord') saying: 'when thou ariseth upon.' In the morning when Imagination ariseth and the eye awakens, you see the familiar objects about as life itself arises. The world is animated by your human imagination. If it did not return in the morning you would be called dead, for life is nothing more than an activity of imagining. So Blake continues, saying: 'when thou ariseth upon my eyes, even in this dungeon, this iron mill.' You see, Blake saw the physical garment as a dungeon, a mill of iron.

48 I always loved that painting as a kid. So clearly unfinished and confused.

Now, looking at it I see all the material staged out for use, and scaffolding in place - Bruegel must have hung around construction sites for his details.

The tradition of "high places" also tickled me when I was told about it, it was apparently once a thing for the various intercessors to climb tall pillars and shout requests into the sky - a form of Nearer, My God to Thee as it were.

119 I love Pieter Bruegel the Elder paintings. The details, the palette with the points of bright colors against earth tones, and often a sense of whimsy. They are instructive and illustrative of the peasant lives. I can see some of his works as father to "Night Watch" and other Rembrandt paintings. If Norman Rockwell did crowd scenes, I suspect they would be similar in nature to Bruegel. It's too bad he couldn't illustrate some Lewis Carroll works.

BTW, I prefer the first Tower painting with its greater detail and the way it shows some of the interior.

Thanks, as always, CBD. Bruegel's works are just plain fun and interesting.

At this time, art was used to teach. Dutch painting especially has heavy parable/moral lessons in them, even in the still-lifes. The idea of "art for art's sake" was not worthy of high art. Art had to have a lofty message, a purpose. Even in details like you describe--the open sewer near swimmers--Bruegel may be pointing out the continued folly of Man. The Tower symbolizes human hubris, the sewer our stupidity.

A Morning Devotional from Sainted Nanzi of the Nanny State.

And there were in those days many who were young and identified as male and whose chosen pronouns were he/his/him. (This was in the time just after the Golden Age of the reign of Barackenautus the Great; when all knew The Word was "palomino" and Goodness, Righteousness and Tsunamis of Free Stuff poured out of the Temples of DeeCee and filled all the land with Goodness, Righteousness and Tsunamis of Free Stuff. But I repeat myself.) Some were with penis and some were without, but all were male because Behold! This is the miraculous evolution that We of the State had caused to come to pass. (And Biology and Science had nothing to do with it, as had been revealed to us by the Blessed Lysenko. Really!)

Yea, verily, and among these males was one who wore the footed jammies and wore them proudly. And his name was Yawn Officer. He was fair and comely to gaze upon and some even went so far as to compare him to the Venerable Trust In True Doe, the fair and beloved footed jammies wearer of the Wilds of Kan-A-Duh and yet another to whom The Word had been revealed.

Yawn Officer lived in the unclean, uncouth and uncivilized land called Georgia in a District called "The Sixth", or close enough thereunto, for the Lines that separated the unclean land of Georgia into Districts ran hither and yon without let, hinderance or reason and their true locations confused him mightily. But in his heart of hearts, Yawn Officer knew he was of "The Sixth" and said he this many times over, until the numbers of the times he said it rivaled the numbers of stars seated in the firmament above Gaia.

And Yawn Officer was keeping himself clean, chaste and apart for She Who Would Become Doctor. And he dwelt in her basement in a District in the unclean land of Georgia that may or may not have been called "The Sixth". Irrespective of any of that, Yawn Officer declared his heart and goodness ached for "The Sixth" and besides, he really, really had dwelt therein before and would come to do so again (count on it), as soon as She Who Would Become Doctor got her act together and would truly become Doctor (and thereby cause to come to pass the prophecy, "The footed One shall bestir Himself and come out of the Place called Basement and stride to and fro about the land, bestowing Goodness, Righteousness and Tsunamis of Free Stuff.")

And Lo! one day Yawn Officer felt the call, and (after he dealt with that) he spake and said these words, "Hear me, People of the District called 'The Sixth'! My calling is to fleece... er, I mean... to serve You, all of you, whether you refer to yourself as he, xe, she, xer or whatever strikes your fancy at this time! Feeling thus, I am duty bound to seek the office of your Congressnoun and thereby offer up for You, all I can do to bestow Goodness, Righteousness and Tsunamis of Free Stuff upon this fair District. And so, I run!" But the People paid Yawn Officer no mind and changed the channel with the device called "Remote".

Here endeth this Morning Devotional from Sainted Nanzi of the Nanny State.

The Tower of Babel. They also speculate there was a strange rock formation that looked like a woman that inspired the story of Lot's wife, and that the story of Samson killing the Philistines with a donkey's jawbone was inspired by a rocky area resembing a donkey's jawbone.

So against my better judgement i sent her one day, only for the school to call me at about 10 am to pick her up coz she had an episode and they are not equipped to handle it. i was spitting mad; a sp ed lawyer then told me that it is all about attendance for them, if she is there when they school bell rings her attendance counts and they keep their percentages up and maintain funding. gotta love Cali public school system.

The first time I went to Jamaica was back in the late 80's. Coming home we got delayed and sat on the tarmac, because the horde of retards from Jamaica that boarded decided to sit wherever they felt like it, and a shit ton of other passengers were trying to get into their rightful seats. They flight attendants basically had to reseat most of the plane, and it was big plane with a bunch of seats across. Then the plane realized it didn't have enough meals, so we sat for another period of time on the tarmac...in the sun....in Jamaica...in the sun. yup, lots of sun.

(Yeah I know)

One day the instructor - who was the college tennis coach, matched me against a girl on the college tennis team. (She was taking it for an easy A).

I was not a good tennis player. I was taking it to learn how to play.

She would serve. I would return and charge the net. She was unable to pass me. (I used to be extremely agile.) She could only lob me. Her frustration mounted to the point where the instructor walked past me and mumbled, "please back off the net".

I was a college sophomore. Playing tennis for the first time.

Now, I couldn't serve and unforced service errors on my part evened things out considerably.

She hated me after that day however. Would not speak to me, or match against me unless instructor made her. Maybe it wasn't just me, or maybe it was, I dunno.

Consider what several million years of evolution did on the hunter-gather tribal level to the physical and mental abilities of each of the sexes because women have 9 months of pregnancy and the child must be nursed and cared for for years afterward. These imperatives on the success of the tribe in continuing its existence continued and at times exaggerated the sex differences which exist in most animal species.

Hello all. Thanks so much JJ for the teacher psych evaluation link. Here is AZ a school district I worked at has full time Social Emotional Counselors. Even as teachers who sign a confidentiality agreement about student information, we were unable to find out what was discusses in the groups they ran, even if we had referred a kid for specific issues, usually behavioral.

We did however great plenty of feedback from the kids who attended, telling us he told them that if we spoke harshly to them, or pressured them in any way that it was 'bullying'.

I lost my shit on the liberal, ladyboy cocksucker SE Counselor and was told by admin. To lay off. I should have covfefe'd him right in his yap instead.

I'll be sending the links and other info. I searched to a local conservative radio station who is very conservative education friendly. This is bullshit.

496 define sport
Merriam-Webster
3. to deviate or vary abruptly from type : mutation

Golf is an abrupt variation of baseball or cricket where the player attempts to hit the ball. Then the play chases after the ball, either on foot at a walking pace, or by riding in an electric vehicle. The player then attempts to find the place where the ball has come to rest, and then attempts to hit the ball a second time.

After several hits, the ball might, by random chance, come to rest near a hole in the ground. Now the player attempts to 'stroke' the ball into the hole in the ground. If successful, this is called a 'score.'

Clearly, golf, is a sport.
