20 So here's what needs to happen:

Spicer and/or Trump invites O'Keefe to press briefing. Gives podium to O'Keefe to expound on recent and past reporting (thinking Acorn here, to parlay into voter fraud discussion.)

Spicer presents O'Keefe with some kind of award. Yes it'll be made up but it will drive the libs (further) insane.

Trump walks in, steps up the microphone, points to cnn, 'You're fired. Leave.'

135 Okay, horde, I need your help.

My smoke detector has been chirping. I replaced the battery - still chirping. The smoke detector is 25 years old so I figured it was time to replace the detector.

Bought a new hardwired CO/smoke detector with 10-year battery backup. Managed to successfully install the new detector without electrocuting myself. Still chirping, despite the new detector having a verbal 'low battery' warning and not a chirp.

In installing the new detector I realized that the 3 smoke detectors must be connected to each other, so I changed the batteries in the other detectors in case that was the problem, although I've never had to replace all the batteries at the same time in the past. Still chirping.

What the heck is going on? I really don't want to have to call an electrician if it's just a matter of replacing the other smoke detectors, which I'm planning on doing soon anyway.

I want the chirping to stop TODAY!

137 This is a beautiful work with astonishing technique and a wonderful sense of color and form. For some reason I enjoy high quality botanical paintings and have a couple of books about them from the 18th and 19th centuries. Michael Zavros is as good as any of them. Some of his paintings remind me of the Low Country artists, perhaps with a bit of whimsy. What talent!

Check out some of his other works. I came across a couple of charcoal on paper pieces that are damn near photographic. I can't imagine how he achieved the effect with charcoal.

Thanks, CBD, as always.

207 personally, i'm partial to fruit art......

Posted by: phoenixgirl... at June 27, 2017 10:12 AM (0O7c5)

I once did a pastel fruit bowl still-life for my mother for Mother's Day. One of her little old lady friends saw it and wanted one, too. Since she was a friend of my mother's (and a sweet little old lady), I said sure. Pretty soon, all of my Mom's friends wanted one and I didn't have the heart to charge any of them. This went on for weeks, months even. Every spare moment seemed occupied with knocking out a frigging flower arrangement or a fruit bowl.

I can't hardly look at a still-life without getting little-old-lady-who-won't-pay-me flashbacks.

Not a lot of detail to go on here, but are any of the other units CO detectors also? A CO detector has a limited life span and will chirp when that date that is reached. Usually starts in the middle of the night. I'm not 100% sure, but I'm under the impression that the feature is burned into the circuity and is required for the device to have a UL certification.

288 Get back to me when it's high energy lasers on a hovertank.

I don't understand the idea of a hovertank. Armor is heavy. Anti-grav/repulsors/etc. would presumably work better on lighter vehicles- bikes, scout cars.

Heavy armored units should have wheels, treads and/or legs. Legs have their own issues, but backup/emergency wheels on the undercarriage might work, depending on the design. Though a antigrav dingus may be useful to increase speed or maneauverability, a floating tank just sounds inefficient.

376 Submitting my Antifa Brittle recipe.

Ingredients

2 cups nut of choice, toasted whole
1 tablespoon salt
1 cup water
1 1/4 cups light corn syrup
2 1/2 cups sugar
4 tablespoons butter
3 teaspoons baking soda

Preparation

In a nonstick saucepan, heat and stir sugar, corn syrup, water and salt over medium heat until sugar has dissolved. Over high heat, using a candy thermometer, cook sugar mixture to a hard crack stage (290°).

Add nut of choice and butter and cook to 300° stirring all the time to keep the nuts from burning. Pull off heat at 300° and stir in baking soda while beating to froth for 30 seconds.

Pour at once on to 4 well buttered 15 1/2 by 10 by 1-inch pans. Spread with a spatula as thin as possible. As the brittle cools you may use gloves to hand stretch the brittle which will give it a better eating quality.

When the sheet of brittle has cooled place in a black plastic bag and beat it repeatedly with a heavy hammer. Then beat it again.

We'll have that soon enough - lotta guys already winning women's sports events because they identify as female.

Remember when we had 3 equal branches of government, with checks and balances so no one branch was more powerful than another. yeah...good times, good times. Congress has so neutered itself the past 8 years, they are virtually irrelevant. And, I can't see how to put the smoke back in that bottle.

This really has nothing to do with the last 8 years. SC justices have a unique right not granted to any other level of the judiciary.

Other levels have judicial oversight groups that enforce things like recusal over judges. No such body exists for the SC, they historically have been left to police themselves. Doesn't work so well with today's extreme leftists who think they have special rights because they are better than us.

This is an enduring mystery: why the hell anyone would want to buy something called a lace wig.

It is probably a question best left unanswered. Like "Who would fuck Chelsea Clinton?" Just don't ask. The world is better off.

Posted by: Alcoholic Asshole Shut In at June 27, 2017 11:09 AM (CPk08)

398 OK peeps - problem sorted. Turns out it wasn't the smoke detector after all. The chirping was coming from an old CO alarm that got buried under stuff in the upstairs hall. At least I taught myself how to install a new smoke detector and I've upgraded one of the 3 detectors to the 10-year battery kind.

I guess the moral is don't assume you know what the problem is.

Thanks for all your somewhat helpful suggestions.

Yea, kids these days will never know the struggle.
My fondest memory was Ace started getting linked to a lot, then the site crashing, and then him declaring no more F-bombs in the comments until after the 2008? election. That lasted what, maybe a week before he himself went off on an Obama rant?

Posted by: IP at June 27, 2017 11:11 AM (MdC1o)

404 speaking of RoundUp, they are advertising here a new version, a gel that comes in a dispenser like underarm deodorant--you just advance a bit through the piercings on top of the applicator, and apply to the leaves of anything you want dead.

I recall his very first vid, when he posed as a pimp getting an abortion at PP for his underaged ho (and PP didn't ask any questions).

He was such a completely improbable pimp that it just shows how stupid the PP woman was, because she clearly fell for it.
