Our civic debate and the intellectualism surrounding it has become boring. We all know the prism through which Charles Blow (racism), Thomas Friedman (globalism), or any left leaning publication will present its view. Everything the Left does is predictable.
The Right is oftentimes similarly rote, although there exists a stronger willingness to debate an issue beyond the merely emotional. It's more about the construct than the destruct; the depth and breadth. Whereas speech is the hallmark of the Right, it is anathema to the Left. Their adherence to a limited cadre of acceptable words has led directly to their stunted and sheltered views. I believe this unwillingness for honest diagnosis is leading to a growing, if not already fatal wound in Europe; the pinnacle of Leftism.Two hours after I got to my hotel, word came of a terror attack three blocks away, on the Champs Élysées. I asked the woman at the desk for directions and she said, in low and measured terms, “I’m sorry madame, there has been a terrorist occurrence. A while back I had some epic leak into the timing cover (??) of my Jeep. My awesome mechanic said, it's about 1100 to fix it or we can try one of those thingies for 50 bucks. It might work forever, it might work for a while, it might not work at all. I opted for the 50 buck fix. So far, all good. Definitely worth a try!

Heh, try that water proof tape that idiot advertises on late-night TV. He started out with this goop that was supposed to form a water tight seal. He cut out a section in the bottom of a boat, put in a screen door, and covered it with the goop. He then went out on the water, screaming "Yeee-haah!".
With the tape, he saws the boat in half, then tapes it back together and goes "Yee-hahh" again.

I've always had one of those battery jumper packs. I think they're great. I had one with a compressor.
The Problem with those jumper packs/compressors is they light-duty. Good for cars and little tires. I have a Navigator.
So I bought two separate units: a heavy duty jumper, a nice one, and a heavy-duty 12v compressor. Love them.

If there are big junk yards within 50 miles it would be worth the call to price a radiator from them.
A new radiator is cheap: $65, delivered to my door.
But it's still an old car. And I'd have to remove the fans, drain the whole system, and hope all the bolts and screws will turn, and hope I don't break anything brittle in the process...etc...

Simple solution: buy an uncracked used radiator at Pick and Pull.
Radiator tanks are usually made of thermosetting plastic that does not accept glue well.
If you are feeling adventurous, and the crack is accessible over its entire length, try this:
1. Stop drill the crack. Meaning, find the very ends of the crack, and drill a 1/8" hole right through such that the near edge of the hole just intersects the crack. That should prevent the crack from propagating further.
2. Use a power sander or small grinder to rough up the entire surface for several inches around the crack. Clean the plastic with lacquer thinner.
3. Cut a small strip of metal to lay over the crack, rough it up and clean it the same way, and drill holes such that you can screw or pop rivet it to the rad tank in the holes you stop-drilled, plus others as required.
4. Mix up some JB Weld, and smear it on the crack area, and the back side of your metal patch, and screw or rivet the patch in place before the JB Weld sets. Slather more JB Weld over the outer surface of your metal patch, and the rivet or screw heads.
This might fix it, and should at least slow the leak to a trickle that radiator stop leak can heal.

I don't know what the Permatex product is all about. Acetone is basically a cleaning agent for this purpose and the biggest problem with sticking to plastic after a smooth surface is dirt.
The kevlar sail tape has it's own adhesive. It will hold.

I own a 30 year old SUV. Don't plan on replacing it unless the body gives up. I can repair all the mechanicals but refuse to do any body work.
There is no real reason to have this 30 year old vehicle, other than I simply like it.

During the Winter War the Finns used to ski around at all hours and weather, pick off a Russian officer, non com or two (usually by slitting their throats) and then prop them up along roads, freezing them into position with an arm outstretched pointing the way back to Russia ~ so the Russian troops would see them as they advanced. hen they would ski home, drink some aquavit, make love to their ultra hot wives in front of a roaring fire and sleep like a log. (OK I may have embellished little but you get the idea) I would NOT screw with the Finns ~ at least not on their home soil.

Finnish Dance Hall. It was like stepping back in time to the 40's. Black and white pictures of uniformed Finnish Army heroes who killed many commies and no one was shy about explaining how good it was to kill Russians. Finns are proud of their military history.
