CNN Publishes Single-Source Claim on Russia Investigation, Then Disappears It, Then Finally Retracts;
Forbids Reporters From Running Any Russia Story Without Permission, Promises "Discipline"

Before getting to that, Camille Paglia said last week that the Democrat Party had broken journalism, and that it would take "decades" to heal the wounds.

It would take decades to recover if they ever self-critiqued and self-corrected, which they're psychologically incapable of doing.

"It's obscene," she said. "It's outrageous, OK? It shows that the Democrats are nothing now but words and fantasy and hallucination and Hollywood. There’s no journalism left. What’s happened to The New York Times? What's happened to the major networks? It's an outrage."

"I'm a professor of media studies, in addition to a professor of humanities, OK?" she continued. "And I think it's absolutely grotesque the way my party has destroyed journalism. Right now, it is going to take decades to recover from this atrocity that's going on where the news media have turned themselves over to the most childish fraternity, kind of buffoonish behavior.”

Now on to the newest CNN #FakeNews: CNN reported, on the basis of a single anonymous source, that a Trump associate did business with Russia, and that he's now the target of a criminal probe.

They then retracted. First, they seem to have done so without acknowledging the retraction, just deleting all mentions of the story in their Twitter fed and nuking links to it.

But after Buzzfeed asked where the story went to, they issued a note stating it had been retracted, and failed to even meet CNN's Like Whatever Man exacting editorial standards for Russia reporting. If you can imagine such a thing.

CNN claimed Senate investigators are looking into whether or not Scaramucci discussed lifting sanctions with Kirill Dmitriev, the chief executive of the $10-billion Russian Direct Investment Fund, in a meeting just four days before President Donald Trump’s inauguration.

“CNN.com published a story connecting Anthony Scaramucci with investigations into the Russian Direct Investment Fund,” CNN said in its editor’s note, “That story did not meet CNN’s editorial standards and has been retracted. Links to the story have been disabled. CNN apologizes to Mr. Scaramucci.”

Given that CNN is actually apologizing, and nuking the story from orbit, I have to guess that this story didn't just fail to meet their "editorial standards," whatever those might turn out to be when discovered, but was objectively and perhaps actionably false.

CNN is now forcing reporters to pre-clear all "Russia-related" stories by high ranking editors before publishing anywhere -- including social media -- and promising "discipline" over this error:

Over the weekend, CNN's executives busied themselves with a new process for reporting on Russia, Buzzfeed later learned. According to an internal memo, all reporting from CNN on that topic will have to get specific approval from executives before appearing on any of their platforms. Jon Passantino's source says that disciplinary action will also be forthcoming over last week’s debacle...

When a report is so fake that even CNN is panicking over it-- well, that's CNN showing us what it really is. A hotbed of conspiracy theorists and vulgar partisans.

Well think about it. 8 years ago is a lifetime to a young reporter. That's before they even started college. Their whole professional life, that's how you do the job: The White House writes up a nice piece for you or tells you how to interpret things, and you go write what you're given.

There are people whose entire career as a journalist consist of this exact system. I suspect its been going on even longer than that, going back at least to 2006. The party writes the press release, the New York Times puts out their version, and everyone follows suit.

Of course were he active today, he'd end up on MSNBC with a show.

Yes, because they made sport of it, trying to see who could "burn" Spicer the most.

Exactly it became about reporters not the news. They were putting on a show every time instead of doing their job and this enrages the because it was a huge ego feed.

92 Given that CNN is actually apologizing, and nuking the story from orbit, I have to guess that this story didn't just fail to meet their "editorial standards," whatever those might turn out to be when discovered, but was objectively and perhaps actionably false.

When the story first came out I saw people alerting the guy to it and his response was not worried about it at all it's a lie and CNN is about to discover they libeled me.

Given that this was retracted at like 11:50 p.m. on a Friday night (I'm not really exaggerating about that) and that CNN is flatly refusing to discuss how the story was published and how and why it was retracted and is slamming down hard on the rest of the Russia Russia Russia stuff, methinks that the final terms of the settlement agreement, particularly the number of zeroes, are still being worked out.

Oh how I heart Paglia. I mean, she's crazy, which is what I love about her, but she's just an old Italian broad whose field was barren yonks ago.

I really really really want her to write the book about the various stone structures around Southeastern PA she's been investigating and believes are Native American monuments and geoglyphs. Sure, she's nigh to 100% overreading her evidence but it will be interesting indeed.

I will admit that when CNN first started, it was so novel that during climactic news events, even a good many Right leaning people would stay tuned in all day and night, in order to watch it.

CNN started the tradition for conservatives on its news panel shows to go one of two ways:
1. Beautiful Loser, who gets pummeled by all the liberals on the panel, or
2. Obvious Ogre, who would drool and grunt and be demonized as the One To Hate. Pat Buchanan was frequently hired for the Obvious Ogre position.

That they wanted them on camera so that they could then parse the person's facial expressions, body language, whether he stopped in mid sentence(obviously lying), etc. He pretty much shrugged and said the current press needs to get over it, that it has nothing to do with the 1st amendment as the statements are STILL being written down and published. Ace, the simmering story that the "Russia Dossier" which started this entire fake scandal was in fact a fact-free hit piece created out of thi air by a Democratic oppo research firm hired by the Hillary campaign -- a detail constantly forgotten by most, but the single most important aspect of this whole Russia brouhaha -- was given new life yesterday with this NYPost article:

Sketchy firm behind Trump dossier is stalling investigators

"What is the company hiding? Fusion GPS describes itself as a “research and strategic intelligence firm” founded by “three former Wall Street Journal investigative reporters.” But congressional sources say it’s actually an opposition-research group for Democrats, and the founders, who are more political activists than journalists, have a pro-Hillary Clinton, anti-Trump agenda."

The U.S. Air Force and more recently the U.S. Marine Corps have identified Raytheons GBU-49 as the quickest way to give the F-35 the ability to prosecute moving targets. Currently, the F-35s ability to strike moving targets is somewhat limited, requiring the pilot to manually direct a GBU-12 to its destination.

As you start digging into The Dossier (random irrelevant facts spinkled on pure whackjobbery to lend credence) or The Chart (A bunch of lines between businessmen and politicians that actually looks like the relationship between any group of businessmen and politicians from major economic centers), or whatever, the narrative just falls apart.

And then you run into Maxine Waters With Underwear on her Head shouting IPEACH, IPEACH and you hallucinate that Oscar the grouch is fronting for Apple's new iPeach by throwing fruit at people and then Big Bird drives by in a convertible El Dorado singing "They see me rolling..." and then you wake up in a pool of your own sweat.

And the more they get shot down, the louder the press gets about Russian hacking. Its like some kind of mental illness: the more wrong and discredited you are, the louder you get.

And that certainly explains it to some extent.

However.. on the gay/lesbian side, perhaps there is a lot of subconscious self hatred. Not really sure how it would be psychologically defined, however "aligning with individuals who want to k*ll you" just isn't normal.

This also holds true for feminists, the half naked slut celebraters who are aligning with Islam, while Islam wants them to live in the house, in a garbage bag without external genitalia.

From SCOTUS:
As for entities, the relationship must be formal, documented, and formed
in the ordinary course, rather than for the purpose of evading EO -2.
The students from the designated countries who have been admit- ted to
the University of Hawaii have such a relationship with an American
entity. So too would a worker who accepted an offer of employment from
an American company or a lecturer invited to address an American
audience. Not so someone who enters into a relationship sim- ply to
avoid 2(c): For example, a nonprofit group devoted to immigration
issues may not contact foreign nationals from the designated countries,
add them to client lists, and then secure their entry by claiming injury
from their exclusion.

337 In case anyone wonders why I am the way I am, this just happened.

My brother WHO TOTALLY EXISTS and sister in law are here to visit this week. They were supposed to get in from CA (via AZ where they stopped to see her family) some vague time today.

The following happened:

Called Dad around 3:30 to see what was going on. Was told they were supposed to get in around 3:30. I said hey that's now and he was all oh huh well your mom's at the bank something about a check and she'll call you and he hung up on me. Okie dokie.

Mommy just called. I asked when they were arriving and she said they were there. Okay. Then I asked if they wanted me to stop over for dinner. This should be a yes or no answer, right?

Yeah. That took 10 minutes including oh do you have to stay the rest of the day and me well it's 4:10 now so yes also I'm the only one here and then well I haven't started dinner yet and I finally started yelling YES OR NO DO YOU WANT ME TO STOP FOR DINNER YES OR NO and Mommy all small voice "don't yell at me" and my asshole brother yelling in the background DON'T YELL AT HER.

My understanding is that the CBO rules are fairly easily gamed to get the result you want. Fixed analysis (not dynamic), that kind of thing.

And yeah, waaaay off. Someone should make a chart or something with various bills, the CBO scores, and then the actual effects. AND THEN mathsplain the flaws in the system, AS WELL AS suggest improvements.

I mean, that's a project for some Porkbusters or Sunlight Foundation-type outfit, yes? Better government, more accurate accounting-- should be bipartisan.

At least in America, the gays know and believe this is happening.

But... (wait for it)... it Can't. And. Won't. Happen. Here.

They assume they will be protected from the lynchings.

It's because Democrats generally are constitutionally incapable of handling money. Hell, the DNC is in hock up to its eyeballs.

However much money a Democrat gets, he spend 120% of that. It's true not only of Dem politicians (God knows), but also true of a lot of Dem supporters.

They always think they've got an income problem, and never consider that maybe they've got a spending problem. Also an emotional maturity/ character problem that prevents them from ever denying themselves immediate gratification.

You heard it here first: they will come up with a solution (involving, of course, higher taxes) around, say, 9 p.m. on Friday and ram it through even if they have to stop the clock (literally) to do it. It's happened before; in 1988 a bill to build a new White Sox stadium at taxpayer expense (because the team's owner was going to move them to St. Pete otherwise) was brought to the floor so close to a midnight deadline that the clock in the legislative chamber was, literally, stopped at several minutes to midnight to insure that the bill passed "on time".

I would donate to a fund to send these people to Gaza to hold a pride parade.

The CBO, during those budget surplus years, projected that in 10 years the entire federal debt would be gone, and Uncle would be running perpetual surpluses.

Wizard of Smart Alan Greenspan, Fed Chairman, was worried about it. If Uncle had no debt, the Fed's primary monetary policy instrument, Ts, would no longer exist, and they would have to come up with something else.

He was really concerned about it at the time.

That ladies and germs, tells you all you need to know about CBO projections.

I would go along with this if I thought there was a scintilla of a chance that the blame would fall on the left. There isn't.

The media will be reporting 7 x 24 that healthcare died under Republican watch. It won't be true and it would be satisfying to watch Obamacare crumble but Republican ultimately would be blamed and if the Dems get control, single payer here we come.

Posted by: JackStraw at June 26, 2017 04:39 PM (/tuJf)

I think Trump understands this. The GOP, not so much.

Um, nothing that hasn't been happening for decades. What the hell is wrong with you? For a supposedly strongly "independent" Democrat, you're apparently just not that bright. Your registered party's proxies have been sabotaging America for generations.

I don't know if you listen to comedians or not but if you have pandora , put your earphones in and pull up Kathy Madigan.

I think you would enjoy her comedy immensely.

The Hill:

Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-Hawaii) on Monday called conservative Supreme Court Justices Neil Gorsuch, Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas "the three horsemen of the apocalypse" waiting for a fourth justice to join their ranks.

Love it.

An interesting concept, if a tad outside my experience. I was always the oldest child, but never the favorite. Even when I was the only child I'm sure my parents liked the next door neighbor's kids better.

no. that message was ambiguous. was the message to Dorothy to surrender? (surrender, Dorothy)? or a message to OZ to surrender Dorothy?

553 I haven't trusted CNN since Eason Jordan admitted to soft-pedaling news on Saddam Hussein just so that they could maintain access to him.

Access over accuracy in the name of advocacy. They've never been more than willing propagandists.
