Bind Me Whip Me Give Me A Speeding Ticket!

Former dominatrix fights to keep her job as a police officer
If Hudson County is that pristine that this is a legitimate concern it is a surprise to me. It's one of the most famously corrupt places in New Jersey, and that is saying a lot!

Hudson County sheriff's officer Kristen Hyman is accused of conduct unbecoming a public employee and faces a disciplinary hearing June 27, The Jersey Journal reported on Thursday. The department says the videos, produced from 2010 to 2012, have sparked ridicule for it.

The department suspended Hyman on May 26, six days before her academy graduation, saying she failed to disclose that she appeared in the films and sometimes saw clients privately for money.

Court documents show that Hyman told investigators she never appeared naked and didn't perform any sex acts in the videos.

I guess she should have disclosed the movies, although without knowing the exact questions it is difficult to find fault. And unless the article has the dates wrong, she wasn't a public employee when she made the movies, so what's the big deal?

This seems to be a case were our inner Libertarian should stand front-and-center and say, "This isn't our business."

Will she make a good cop? That's the only question.

[Hat Tip: Curmudgeon]

And a musical interlude below the fold that seems apropos...

Yeah, BDSM exists in a somewhat gray area legally. While it's consensual sexual activity (safe, sane, and consensual, people), the more hardcore activities can cross over into what would be considered battery and, in most jurisdictions, you cannot consent to be battered.

For example, when MMA first started it was banned in Canada because you cannot consent to a bare fist fight.

Shibumi, I highly recommend that you take the Monica Perez pill. You would love her podcasts and separate radio show (on podcast as well). She is Stanford Law, was a CFP at Goldman and other big banks. Super smart, intelligent, curious, and hard working. She is an AnCap that makes Ron Paul look tame because she believes that psychopaths always get into power throughout history so we should not have people in power (as her 1000 year plan). She breaks down media propaganda as her passion. She lives and is based out of WSB radio in Atlanta. Has a separate podcast about propaganda in the media. She believes they are all liars and trusts nothing out of the media and our leaders.

You would love her and her work. Highly entertaining and informative.

I'm in love with her she is so freaking awesome, smart, and does not give a fuck.

109 The problem is not actually with her hurting the reputation of the department ... The problem is that is would impact her job performance - oh sure, not investigating, arresting people, etc, but a large part of a cop's job is also testifying about what they did. Therefore, anything that would impact their potential credibility on the stand would be an issue. Defense attorney's often use the tactic of trying to discredit witnesses' testimony. While it perhaps should not make a difference that she did this in pre cop employment, it would make a difference in how people would regard her testimony, especially in anything related to sec crimes. I can easily imagine how a good defense attorney would use this against her in a rape trial, child sexual abuse trial, etc. If she never had to testify I could see this would be a nothignburger for failing to disclose, but one of the main reasons police departments ask about things that might be embarrassing is to avoid finding out about it at trial, right before a cop has to testify.

Highly entertaining and informative

themselves well to protecting the agency's reputation.

Except that Hudson County is a shit-sty (I used to live in JC), where the city and council are so corrupt, they can seemingly be bought and convinced to do anything, and the county isn't much better. Their people manning their services are usually inept, the process is outdated, taxes are high, and the place is dirty and crowded. But yeah, let's get on a woman's ass because she used to be a dominatrix (most pro dommes do NOT have sex with clients, either).
So I would argue there isn't much to protect at this point, wrt to an agency's rep.

189 I have to say I really appreciate the way PDT gets his condolences to the family out there and public right away. Comforting to know your president actually cares about us.

190 Lift = lift coefficient x density x velocity squared x 0.5 x wing area

Heat makes the air density lighter (temp and volume are proportional, volume and pressure are inversely proportional) so there's less lift because there is less air mass flowing across the wing.

In fixed wing aircraft it results in a need for a longer runway because the aircraft needs more speed to get the same amount of lift. In helicopters it results in higher torque required for lift off.

196 rickb223, you know why you want to elect prostitutes to public office?

No public debt. They'll want the money up front.

atomicplaygirl, I have a nephew going to Princeton starting in
July. Can you give me any advice to pass on to him about the area? Where
to avoid for example due to crime etc.? Thanks if you can help. (Or
not. )

Posted by: andycanuck at June 19, 2017 07:39 PM (nlbfN)

Well Princeton is a ways away from Husdon County/JC and I'm only renovating a house in JC, not living there, so my advice is passable, at best.I would just say congrats, first off! And second, don't wear anything flashy if you're taking the subway- jewelry, clothes, etc, just to be on the safe side. Parts of JC have gotten better (they're historic districts now, so the townhouses are going for high dollar and attracting better residents).
