Obama was content to leave the kid in North Korea, and it would have been politically troublesome for him had the story become a front page story, so he and his media friends made sure no one even knew about this.

No question Otto's behavior was unbelievably stupid, but he was a college kid, and they do dumb things. And no matter how stupid the stunt was, he didn't deserve to lose his life -- which is what has happened to him -- because of it. I agree except in situations like this one, where the consequences of the choices were not a result of some natural phenomenon but the actions of other human beings. Human beings who are supposed to have their own moral compass and reasoning skills. Getting killed (or might as well have) by other people is not the same as being mauled for going speluning in a bear cave or getting hit by lightning while golfing in the rain. Both the victim and the perpetrator here have moral agency.

I suspect that during most of South Korea's history, our forces have served to deter the ROKs from going north. The current administration of South Korea will pass, and it will be hard to put the alliance back together if we dismantle it. The command structures are very integrated (with the US having the finger on multiple triggers).

Thanks for the concern everyone and for the prayers. It wasn't totally unexpected because he wasn't packing 235 items an hour, but the demands stink. He says "It's my fault." I told him it wasn't. He's not 25 and he can't do what the younger folks do, but he was working to the best of his ability., It seems to me that it is counterproductive to have to train a new person for the job. They shouldn't hire older people if they expect them to work like 25 year olds.

Walmart is making a huge push for Amazon's business. No minimum on free two day shipping, free ship to store, setting up the equivalent of Amazon Marketplace on the Walmart site.
Fine by me and I'm a pretty hard core partaker of Amazon services. The ship to store will be a big plus. Think about it, if you do your shopping at Walmart already, then you just order, snag your groceries and paper goods, then swing by and get whatever without having to worry about being home for a delivery or having a package on the porch or sending to the office.
Target was doing a special a bit ago to order online and pick up at store and get 10% off. My parents needed a new toaster oven and I just went online, ordered the one I was going to the store to get anyway and boom, 10% off and I walked in, picked it up and walked out.

I have used their service, I just wish that all the stores had the pickup place closer to the front of the store. A new Walmart near me has the pickup at the front, with a separate entrance. I see also Wegmans is starting at home delivery, I know Public also is doing it...

99.9% of the time I am with you on stupids going where they shouldn't. Stupid was stealing a sign, if he did. But he was in China, and he signed up for a legitimate tour with a Chinese company.
