18 Yeah, but what version of this story will the general public remember?

This is the MSM's strategy: publish so many damning stories about Trump, new (fake) scandals every day, that people can't keep track of which ones end up to be false.

It's creating an overall narrative of Trump's behavior, fake story brick by brick. Even if one story is known to be false, the intended response is to be, "Yeah, but we know he was doing this with other people, so...guilty!!"

23 Ace, if you want a good "dismissive contempt" thread, check out this article from the local Berkeley newspaper, titled "Training helps Berkeley liberals communicate with Trump supporters":

http://www.berkeleyside.com/2017/06/05/ opinion-training-help-berkeley-liberals-communicate-trump-supporters/

It's hilarious, because the article itself, while recommending that Berkeley leftists take classes to "listen to" and "communicate with" Trump voters, is flamboyantly insulting, dismissive and contemptuous of Trump supporters, and relies on every false trope about them being all neo-Nazis, etc.

Examples:

"Given who we're dealing with , attempting to engage in peaceful dialogue runs the risk of violent escalation , a potentially dangerous situation especially for non-whites and Muslims . After the horrific incident in Portland last month, where a white supremacist is charged with murdering two men who tried to protect two young women of color being racially harassed by the accused, our first concern must be safety, and sometimes the safest course is avoidance.

That said, I recognize that there are people who feel compelled to engage with members of hate groups and, if that describes you, then yes, the workshop will be valuable."

32 MSM is on a path to take a great legal fall.
After tomorrow, a lot of their recent reporting will be discredited.

Also, MSM does not have the right to publish leaked classified material. To be more clear, the government has a high legal burden to stop the publication beforehand (that's the Pentagon Papers case) but that doesn't mean the publisher can't be charged afterwards. MSM may learn this the hard way.

MSM may get sued by Trump for libel. Yeah, yeah, The NY Times v Sullivan case. But MSM is creating quite a record of actual malice with things like using anonymous unknown unvetted sources.

I could give a crap if the New York Times or Washington Post makes up lies. We know they are all full of shit.

But there are criminal investigations and Congressional hearings being conducted based on those fictional stories. That is the most alarming part.

The newspapers have become the indictments -- without naming the accuser.

If tomorrow, a newspaper named an innocent person in an article without attribution, that person could face criminal trial and have their life destroyed.

With no attribution.

That is alarming.

The leakers are Obama administration holdovers. They were political appointees that got civil service jobs at high enough levels to still get some intel.

Also, they are like most of the Obama era appointees, they are just waiting for their time to be able to resign publicly and with much fanfare over the false information that they are leaking to the press making them martyrs so that they develop a fundraising base from which to run for the state house or congress.

And, there is a reason why the WaPo doesn't need 2 sources on these stories, it is because the above source is a buddy of the WaPo reporter/reporterette and thus does not need to have the story corroborated. Plus, it's Trump, they don't give a shit.

117 The Echo Chamber is at work on a lot of this.

Someone like ValJar or Rhodes comes up with an idea damaging to Trump. e.g. "Comey was going to ask for more resources to investitage RussiaGate." The story gets planted with two or more sources. Reporters call the sources and get corroboration because the sources say the same thing.

On some stories they've gone to single sources. Like someone reading a purported Comey memo. And even anonymous poison pen letters.

When you do this enough, you can have multiple stories coming from just a handful of sources. You also have people like Rhodes and senior editors co-ordinating this.
Because it often involves classified material, prove these facts and you have serious criminal charges. Including against the likes of The Times and WaPo.

124 So the "dodgy dossier" on Trump which alleged all those highly colorful episodes with the Russians, including the purported peeing hooker story, has been rumored to have come from any of several places, including that it was a 4Chan prank taken seriously.

Just read what claims to be one of the original 4Chan pranksters who asserts that the original seed of defamatory material came from Rick Wilson's son. The 4Channers then spiced it up, extended and revised, and dropped it to Egg McMuffin. McMuffin lateraled it to McCain, and McCain in turn delivered to Jim Comey. (Tinker to Evers to Chance.)

But! The 4Chan prankster then also says that at some point along the chain of custody after they gave the bogus "dossier" to McMuffin, *further* alterations and rewrites were made to it, including significantly punching up the material involving Russia.

So: who's responsible for those modifications, and why?

Comey has been playing both sides for a long time now. His only interest is James Comey. He only did his infamous press release to cover his own ass. Wouldn't have happened if Bill hadn't been caught on the tarmac, forcing Loretta to kick it over to Comey.

You really think they are investigating and talking to "sources"?

LOL no.

Here's how it works - Valerie Jarrett sends the story they are to print over a secure channel. They add a byline and print. Just like the last eight years.

172 Well, I, for one, want them to keep letting Hillary come to all their get togethers to sit there in front of the cameras and with wild eyes and dramatic gestures ramble on incoherently about all the components of the conspiracy that led to:

Hillary Clinton will never be POTUS.

You would think that they would publicly identify any source which has been proven by testimony to be a bull shittting liar.

I had some friends out at the CWS in 2015 when UVA beat Vanderbilt. They saw one of the ESPN commentators after the game and said he was pissed off that UVA won by starting a pitcher that hadn't been in the starting rotation for the whole CWS. Said it was "unfair", and "not the way the game should be played". He failed to notice that the pitcher had actually been in the regular season rotation, and by the championship game, the others in the rotation were gassed.

But, it was an ACC team winning over an SEC team, so....

216 I read this story this morning and immediately thought ... somebody is going to get fired.

This story smells like a plant to look for leaks.

You create a story, then assign different names and drop it in different places around the White House.

I used to know a guy who used this technique on his resume to see where he sent it come have it come back in a different place. He was shocked once to find out it was the HR department of the company he had just joined.

Posted by: Islamic Rage Boy at June 07, 2017 02:35 PM (75C2c)

217 ...and around and around we go. When do ya think The Washington Post will have to be sold in the checkout line right next to the National Enquirer?

This whole thing is starting to seem like an Amon Duul album, with tons of dramatic twists and turns, but in the end, really going nowhere...

Posted by: The Lonebadger at June 07, 2017 02:37 PM (0PPlf)

218 Yeah, but what version of this story will the general public remember?

This is the MSM's strategy: publish so many damning stories about Trump, new (fake) scandals every day, that people can't keep track of which ones end up to be false.

It's creating an overall narrative of Trump's behavior, fake story brick by brick. Even if one story is known to be false, the intended response is to be, "Yeah, but we know he was doing this with other people, so...guilty!!"
-----
I see it completely differently, they've cried wolf so many times that even if DJT did something that were true many folks wouldn't even lift an eyebrow b/c "that's fake" precedent has already been established so its immediately a non-starter.

I hope that they keep it up and continuing losing the very little credibility that they have left...

Posted by: Clear-as-Mud at June 07, 2017 02:42 PM (xcA0/)

219 ... it would have taken place much earlier, especially with Trump's less-than-notable impulse control.
