Remember, These People Are So Much Smarter Than The Rest of Us

I rate the stupidity level of this tweet at 1150 millikohns, it's just that dumb:

Great googly-moogly, this is like one of those "what's wrong with this picture?" pictures. And this is not some Vox "hot take" written by a 27-year-old know-nothing hipster trying to come up with something clever before a deadline, but rather the considered opinion of an academic. About which, more later.

So, she thinks the U.S. was created by international consensus. Really? And here I've been thinking all along that it was created by a bunch of liberty-loving patriots who shot the British army in they hiney enough (and got the Frenchies to help out a bit) to convince the Crown that Britain would be better off if it just packed up and went home.

And her dates are wrong. The United States wasn't founded in 1783, but rather 1776. July 4th, 1776. to be precise. I believe we have a document floating around from that time period with that specific date on it. Perhaps Ms. Chaplin is unaware that it is still extant.

Here is what wiki has to say about the Treaty of Paris:

The Treaty of Paris, signed in Paris by representatives of King George III of Great Britain and representatives of the United States of America on September 3, 1783, ended the American Revolutionary War.

The Treaty of Paris wasn't some sort of international, multi-lateral agreement that created a new country, it was just a peace treaty between two sovereign nations. And the fact that one of the nations was the United States means that it wasn't created in 1783, but was already in existence.

Oh, and here's another giant chunk of stupid: WTF is this "int'l community" Chaplin is referring to? There was no "int'l community" in 1783. There was no UN or EU or League of Nations. None of that globaloney crap had been invented yet. There weren't any "international" bureaucrats, just diplomats representing the interests of the various countries they served.

Note the irony here: Chaplin is accusing Trump of pursuing an historically misguided course of action by bringing in a huge anachronism that is itself historically misguided.

That's pretty dumb.

I suppose it could be that she's being *deliberately* ironic. But I doubt it. I just think she said something that's really, really dumb.

Anyway, I'm sure you're all wondering, who is this Joyce Chaplin? And why should we care about what she has to say? Well, we shouldn't. It's not like she's some sort of Thought Leader (ahem). But, just for grins, let's look at her CV she put on her Twitter bio page:

Chair, American Studies @harvard, and James Duncan Phillips Professor @harvard_history.

That's right, she's a history prof. At Harvard. Which is probably the most prestigious university in America.

Let that sink in.

Meanwhile, I'll let Ted Cruz have the last word on this:

The Right to Freedom of Association, means you DON'T have to associate if you don't want (basis of Freedom)...

That Equal protection under the law, means equal for all... not just for protected classes...

Hordianism recognizes St. Browning. How do you convert to Hordianism? If you are a member of The Horde, you are already a member.

Rules may be invented whenever they are convenient, much like Fizbin. They must sound legit. Any laws that contradict other laws of Hordianism are held to be co-equal, and conditional depending on circumstances.

For example, the Glock may be the official sidearm of Hordianism when the moon is in Virgo.

If Islam gets everything it wants in the name of religion, then so does Hordianism. Fair is only fair.

Nah. That'd be like saying France wasn't a country until the current Republic formed.

A country is greater than it's government. When American pulled together and said, "No more" from it's current British government, then it became a new nation. The people, through it's representatives, made that happen de jure. Then there was a fight about that, and Britain lost the argument.

Posted by: rd at June 07, 2017 12:20 PM (XSEwK)

265 No, they are not dumb. They know exactly what happened, but that doesn't fit their worldview going forward. First they come up with their Worldview Plans, then they go back an twist and rewrite the actual history to fit their plans. As the prestigious historians who write the definitive US History texts, their lies will be propagated throughout time.

This is how they have gone about their climate "science". After the planet Venus was studied, it was found that its atmosphere was mostly carbon dioxide and its surface temperature was higher than any other planet, even Mercury. The greenhouse effect was coined. Someone hypothesized that increased carbon emissions in the industrialized world may have such an effect on Earth, but the data didn't fit.

Globalists knew that if this simple greenhouse gas hypothesis were to be true, they could implement a plan to control a lot of wealth. So they paid "scientists" to fabricate and twist available data to "prove" their desired conclusion, and then pointed to all these scientists that they employed (most of whom thought they were being "good people" by playing along) as evidence of "settled science".

Left-wing academia is all about going backwards and twisting the past to prop up their desired future.

All official Hordian governments must follow this rule, and all who oppose it must be fired out of a cannon.

Back when schoolchildren were actually taught about the Revolution, there was a book, Spies of the Revolution, which explored not only Washington's ring, but also had a couple of good chapters about the English and American spy network before Lexington and Concord:

432 A little OT but maybe not so much.
Was thinking the other day how the much-maligned "Black list" of the 50s (academia and Hollywood) was so much more benign and justified than what goes on today.

The Harvard retroactive rejection of students for posting of Teh "Hate Speech" (TM) is far, far more insidious. Students who online posted some fucking JOKE that the Commissariat found to insult one of its protected identity groups is now grounds to deny admission to a supposed leading university. The obvious inequality of enforcement (piss Christ and anti-white BML rants AOK but no profaning Mohammed, etc) is one thing. But now the totalitarian mind is truly going after the minutia of impure thought. Basically, posting a link to Blazing Saddles or telling a mother-in-law joke would amply quality as "hate speech" under their standards. And, most depressingly, the Comment boards from ABC fairly lit up with support about "good for Harvard... hate has consequences etc"

By contrast, the Dreaded Blacklist that is deemed pretty much Pure Nazi to the was pretty much limited to those who actually joined an organization actively supporting mass murder, mass imprisonment and a hostile adversary with nukes pointed at our country on a hair trigger.

And, the enforcement of that Blacklist was pretty much limited to the specific employment at issue, and didn't involve tearing down that person publicly to the point of shunning them from all society.

But hey. Progress!

Project Appleseed - where we teach you the basics of rifle marksmanship along with the events of April 19th 1775, Paul Revere's ride, battles of Lexington, Concorde, and Miriam's Corner and by putting the history and marksmanship together created our unique American Heritage. We teach the marksmanship and the history as a way to teach what's being lost in our schools. Marksmanship - Heck you can't even draw a rifle in a school with out someone rasising an alarm and the 'offender' being written up and kicked out of school for several days. Ask some average kid who Paul Revere was and at best you might get , some old white guy yelling the "British are coming!" and that be lucky to get that.
(note- back then we were all British. That doesn't even make sense. And he wasn't 'yelling' but part of a coordinated contact system to raise the alarm)

https://appleseedinfo.org There are weekend clinics all over the 50 states! Cheap rifle marksmanship instruction compared to what it can cost you to go out west for some school. Save that money once you have the basics down and can shoot as good as a basic Rifleman.

440 As a historian, I still cannot understand why so many historians turn out to be Leftists. I would like to chalk it up to professional arrogance (since we are historians, we can make Leftist ideology work because we know what went wrong in the past!!!) but even that doesn't make sense because Leftism of all flavors believes human nature is a disease that must be cured. Not to mention my own aversion to Leftism, which, for me, is made stronger by the study of history.

446 OK, this ticked me off that I went on a wee rant at my FB timeline:

Some saltiness ...

OK, I had a father who was pretty obsessive about American history, and I spent some chunks of childhood writing essays--even while still asking, "What does S.A. stand for?" So while I'm not an American history scholar, I'm also not too bad at American history, which includes spotting some bullshit.

*This* woman, on the other hand, claims to be a professor of American studies. "That's right, she's a history prof. At Harvard. Which is probably the most prestigious university in America. Let that sink in." John Harvard, who was said to have held learning in high esteem, must be spinning in his grave so fast it's giving him friction burns.

And what? Someone wants to talk about betrayal? How about betrayal of the fields of American blood spilled in France and other European countries, nations now carelessly giving away for rape and pillage what American fighters--some of them barely out of childhood and many who fibbed about their young age so they could deliver liberty--what these American fighters battled and died to win for them. The least any American can do is get their fucking history straight and learn some key dates such as, oh I don't know, maybe 1776????? This willfully ignorant bint not only doesn't know the BASIC foundational facts that nearly any child could supply her with, but she's also teaching college students something that came out of Drunk History.

Our ancestors did not die for this bullshit.
