Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | FakeNews CNN's Alisyn (What?) Camarotta Asks Spelling Bee Champion to Spell "Covfefe," Then Says That Maybe She Got It Wrong Because It's Not SanskritIt's remarkable how some rules just don't seem to apply to the Ruling Class, isn't it? For starters, she and her Mentally Retarded Male Mansplainer Chris Cuomo marginalized the achievement of a marginalized non-white female, pushing aside the news of her victory in the national spelling bee in order to foreground, get this, a minor tweet made by a White Male. Then, feeling it wasn't enough to tell this Girl of Color "We don't care about how many hours you studied for this, we just want to talk about the White Man Who Makes Us Feel Alive," Alisyn Camarotta Otherized the girl by assuming that she was somehow familiar with the Sansrit language -- a language that while technically still in use, is primarily in use for religious and philosophical purposes (as Latin is still technically in use in the West), assuming that a girl from America must be a practicing (and, indeed, advanced) scholar of the Vedas just because her parents are Indian. When the Marginalized Girl, whose victory was de-focused to foreground a White Male's spelling error, got the spelling of "covfefe" wrong, Alisyn Camarotta tried to comfort her: "We're not sure its root is Sanskrit, which is probably what you're used to using." Um, she's American and speaks English as a first language. Why would you claim she's "used to using" a language primarily used in liturgical contexts? Though, in a small corner of India, it's used as a primary language -- but I do mean "a small corner." 14,000 people, primarily in Uttarakhand, speak it as a primary language. Bear in mind, India's population is 1.3 billion. India's main language is of course Hindi, not Sanskrit, and it has 122 main languages, and over 1300 other languages spoken there. The 2001 Census recorded 30 languages which were spoken by more than a million native speakers and 122 which were spoken by more than 10,000 people. As Sanskrit is spoken by just over 10,000 people (14,000), let me go ahead and say that this idiot could have chosen 121 other languages for her racist barb that would have been more appropriate. Congratulations, Idiot-- you chose a language that is spoken by less than 1% of India's population. Oh, of course, English is spoken as a secondary language by the great majority of Indians. And it's spoken as a primary language by most American citizens, as this girl is. So, like most racists, Alysin Camerotta isn't just racist, but too ignorant to even get her racism right. Open thread. PS: I actually thought that Sanskrit was a completely dead language until I looked it up. So Alisyn Camerotta's ignorance has at least helped me learn a little. I just looked up Uttarakhand because, like you, I had no idea people "still" speak this ancient Vedic language.
The impression I got is that Uttarakhand is one of those places like Algeria, housing two groups of people who refuse to speak each others' language. So they chose a third language inoffensive to both. In Algeria, the language they picked was French. In most of India it's English as you noted. Here it seems they decided they hate the English too (probably for good reasons) so picked Sanskrit. Posted by: boulder terlit hobo at June 05, 2017 07:33 PM (6FqZa) 17

For many years I have understood that ill ft has a sneering disdain for the proletariat. The only thing that is important to the left is to move forward the narrative.
People matter to the left as voters. The strategy is to identify "minority" groups, inform said groups, through the willing media, that they are despised by the right, and collect the votes. Sometimes the utter disdain for those the left claims to champion unwittingly seeps out. Posted by: Ladylibertarian at June 05, 2017 08:08 PM (TdMsT) Posted by: J.J. How convenient the Intercept article on the supposed Russian attempted hack of the voting company, which included FL and NC as its clients, is released on the same day as Ms. Winner's arrest. Why do I think this convenient and sloppy little bit of espionage was all planned to put this report front and center as the "smoking gun", supporting the belief their mantra the election was stolen? Not only is there a TS "voting machines/Russians" report to claim as proof, there is now a new martyr for the cause to rally round.

Anybody consider that she fell victim of a honeypot? A classified document specifically put into the system to flush out leakers? Same old same old, mostly. Sent a couple of resumes out the other week, got a follow up call, was supposed to hear today about setting up a phone interview and of course the call didn't come. Now, it could be any one of a number of things to cause delay, but it's what I've come to expect. At this point I don't even get mad at being treated this way. It's more of a tired resignation.
Google recruiter contacted me. We had some good back and forth, he asked me to provide him five dates and times for a one hour phone screen. Then he disappeared. I waited a few days, then contacted him. He replied almost immediately and said things are busy, blah blah blah, can I send him five new days and times. I did. He disappeared again! Motherf*cker! I'm debating if it's worth contacting him again. It's Google, so I probably will. Dammit. Posted by: bonhomme at June 05, 2017 08:15 PM (4aG2t) 256

Completely OT, but I need to bitch.
My fucking apartment management sent me an email at 7 pm that the balcony needs to be COMPLETELY cleared as of tomorrow, because they're painting all of the balconies this week. Tentatively. I have no idea where I'm supposed to put my planters or balcony furniture. I have a lot wedged into this space. Extra swearing deleted. Also, even though they've already sucked up a huge amount of parking with endless containers of imported Chinese renovation equipment (since last fall), we have now been informed that the parking nearest the building has to be empty from 8 am-6 pm, so that they can paint the exterior. At some point yet to be determined. Nothing is being done regarding structural integrity of these 15-year-old buildings (which are already partially rotting, not to mentioned the windows which all need to be replaced sometime in the near future), only cosmetic improvements are being made. Oh yes, and this is "luxury" housing. I'm now paying $1830/mo plus utilities for this dubious place 25 miles from DC. Tenant inconvenience? Pfft. In my experience the really big names like Amazon, Apple, Google, Microsoft, and Amazon have so many amazing applicants that unless you're a big name they're specifically recruiting, they really don't give a shit. Every position advertised has 100 internal references and THOUSANDS of external applications. Posted by: bonhomme at June 05, 2017 08:28 PM (4aG2t) Traditionally, in America, it was small businesses that were the backbone of the economy. Big corporations got most of the fame and notoriety, but small companies provided most of the jobs. I don't know if that is still true today. Big government's oppressive regulations and tax laws crush small businesses. From what I have read, most young people coming out of school want to go to work for a corporation or the government, and turn up their noses at small businesses. From my own experience, if you can find a small business where you fit in and get along with the owner and your coworkers, it beats the living daylights out of being a replaceable cog in a corporation. Yes, you can make more money and get better benefits in a corporation, but in a small business, you don't have the office politics, performance reviews, etc. You know what is expected of you and where you stand. It's just an all around saner environment. Often, in small businesses, the owner works harder and puts in more hours than his employees. That makes one willing to put in a little extra effort when the situation requires it. There's more of a sense of "we're all in this together". How? Posted by: fd at June 05, 2017 08:58 PM (BO/km) I'll probably get willowed, but that reminds me of a joke: A man has sold his soul to Satan and is trying to wiggle out of the deal. He flatters the devil by complimenting him on his memory, saying that it's incredible out of all the people whose souls he gets, that he can remember on which day each is due. The devil says, "I have the best memory in the universe. No one is better." "Ah," says the man, "There's an old Indian in Arizona who has a better memory than you. If I can prove that, will you give me my soul back?" "It's a deal," Satan says, and in an instant he transports the two to Arizona. The man points out the Indian. "Ask him anything," he prompts. Satan walks up to the Indian. "Do you like eggs?" he asks. "Likum eggs," the Indian says. Satan nods, then vanishes in a puff of brimstone, taking the other man with him. For the next twenty years, Satan watches as the man is tormented in hell. Then, one day, he takes him back to Arizona and the two materialize in front of the Indian. Satan holds up a hand. "How." "Scrambled," replies the Indian. Posted by: Mary Poppins' Practically Perfect Piercing at June 05, 2017 09:05 PM (Ki5SV) 484

Hi Miley, Yes, this is a not uncommon thing with close-in housing around here. Apartments are just barely maintained. 283 What did the 'Indians' invent that makes us SO concerned about giving them due reverence? They have nukes sure .. and an incredibly "intolerant" caste system. But they are marginally better "allies" than Pakistan. And they are so useful on those call centers.
Posted by: illiniwek at June 05, 2017 08:20 PM (DDZxc) I was born in 1960 and have been good friends with Indians since high school. I worked with them daily the last 10 or so years before I retired. They've moved way beyond call centers and the better-educated Indians are every bit the equal of Americans and Western Europeans. They have a strong commitment to western-style democracy and hate Islam with a white-hot passion. I'm going to stand with my Indian friends in this minor disagreement. Yeah, drink beer. The water, well the fish f*** in it.

How did Reality Winner get TS clearance when she
tweeted on 2/7 she would support Iran, if there was war? She tweeted under "Sara Winners", but "Reezlie" is her on Instagram, too. Posted by: ever at June 05, 2017 09:33 PM (kronK) Amazing. @648 - yes, as near as we can figure it stayed in the trunk for over 80 years. Mice had gotten into the trunk and nested in the sheets on top, but didn't get down to the quilt.

542 Can we stop with the covfefe jokes? They were funny the first day, but come on, the tweet was a week ago, and leftists are still smirking over it. As if their progressive idols never misspoke, misspelled, or mistweeted. Grow up, you smug liberal idiots.

A lot depends on what materials were used and how they're stored, but you'd be surprised at how long some things last. There's a tapestry that Queen Elzabeth worked on still extant; she was around with Shakespeare. Courtney Love somehow who managed to get ahold of museum-quality dresses from the 18th century, fancy ballgowns in some cases, and tore them all apart to in an attempt to become a fashion designer. Appalling. Posted by: Tammy al-Thor at June 05, 2017 09:54 PM (XF3Xp) Posted by: My shame knows no bounds, but I think I am approaching my limits. at June 05, 2017 09:55 PM (0m0zi) 662

Forget the CNN typo listing Gloria Borger as "Cheif" Political Analyst during a Covfefe Clatch.
Did they go on for weeks when Obama couldn't spell RESPECT for Aretha? And she spelled it out for him first! I guess he doesn't speak Motownese. It might be more accurate to compare Sanskrit to Aramaic, rather than Latin.
Aramaic is another language primarily significant for its connection to the origins of a major religion but also still spoken today as a native language by a small number of people. Posted by: Prothonotary Warbler at June 05, 2017 11:48 PM (3YxFh) 668
ABC and all the others going to cover Comey live on Thursday because this is it the moment they've been waiting for when Trump will be killed, disembowled, drawn and quartered, his pieces dipped in boiling tar and placed in gibbets to be hung from the lamp posts in front of Barry and Mooch's new digs.
Barry will then cross town and enter Pennsylvania avenue on the back of an ass, wearing a cloak of gold, his way paved with palm leaves, his face radiant, where his procession will go directly to the White House, where he will be reinstalled by Chief Justice John Roberts. And all this will be breathlessly narrated by George Stephanopolous and company. Posted by: Les Kinetic at June 06, 2017 12:01 AM (U6f54) 669

This does explain why leftists assume everyone else is secretly racist/sexist/whatever-ist. They're projecting again, and cannot comprehend someone who isn't, much less that *most* people aren't.
