Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Trump Withdrawing From Paris Climate AccordsWhile the Twitter ninnies and NeverTrumpers (but I repeat myself) obsess over the typo "confefe," actual news is out there, though it might not be as nummy to the Twitter Shut-in Set. President Trump has made his decision to withdraw from the Paris climate accord, according to two sources with direct knowledge of the decision. Details on how the withdrawal will be executed are being worked out by a small team including EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt. They're deciding on whether to initiate a full, formal withdrawal -- which could take 3 years -- or exit the underlying United Nations climate change treaty, which would be faster but more extreme. Why this matters: Pulling out of Paris is the biggest thing Trump could do to unravel Obama's climate legacy. It sends a combative signal to the rest of the world that America doesn't prioritize climate change and threatens to unravel the ambition of the entire deal. But don't worry, Twitter Addicts and NeverTrumpers (BIRM) -- You lost Paris, but you'll always have covfefe. He's also put a 90 day delay on an Obama-era rule on methane. Comments(Jump to bottom of comments)1

Word is that Trump made it clear to Merkel that he was going to have the US pull out of the Paris Accord.
Which explains her pique days ago. It'll be a galactic meltdown. There'll be lots of diplomatic threats, but it will force the CAGW crowd (including Merkel) to double down on the hoax. Random thought: Do people today even know the difference between primary sources, secondary sources and interpretative texts? I ask this because someone responded to Insty's piece on the jaw dropping violations of Section 702 revealed in the FISA Court opinion by saying yeah but that's a stealth right wing site (aka Circa who broke the story) and Insty's response was what the FISA Court? I think we're at a point where people are incapable of comprehending that a primary source document remains so even if it is linked by someone whose politics you don't like. It's not a Schroedinger document. The text remains the same no matter who links it. Very good news. I think what's been happening behind the scenes is that Trump naively thought that if he played footsie with the establishment (probably at the insistence of Ivanka and Jared) there was an off chance they would go along with him on some things. To his credit he learned that no matter what the GOPe will always stab him in the back. Now instead of being a pussy like Lil' Marco or Low Energy Jeb would've been he's pissed and is now on the warpath. Give them hell Mr. President!

The last several months have cemented even further in Trump's mind, that he is in a war.
He is going to pull every single weed he can pull. They have hamstringed him in the courts and in Congress but he'll do as much as he can do. Wait wait wait wait wait --
I thought only the SENATE could ratify an international treaty. I thought that when Obama signed these ludicrous documents, it was just a fake-ass bunch of leftist virtue signaling that was NOT LEGALLY BINDING. Therefore, I was under the impression that the US has no need to "withdraw" from the treaty because the US was never officially IN the treaty. In order to "withdraw" from it, all we need to do is simply stop abiding by its provisions -- which Trump is doing anyway. Can someone straighten out my misapprehension -- or confirm that I am correct? Posted by: zombie at May 31, 2017 01:41 PM (DQ4Fv) 119

If it was being put before the jury, then we had to be able to prove, at the drop of the judge's gavel, the source of that statement/fact/whatever, provide the citation to the record and prove we'd given it to opposing counsel. Hell, I had to remind counsel, during trial, that they had to have the witness authenticate photographs first and then I could pull them up. I couldn't pull it up and then have it authenticated because the jury would then see the picture. Ferris passed out at the 31 Flavors last night, it's serious just wasn't an option for me. "...The young American student was welcomed at first into the village where she took rooms above Mme Saltiere's brasserie. She was soon disliked, though; her manner was rough, she laughed too loudly and pointed at people and ate with table manners that offended even the rustics. The women whispered about her; the men turned their backs. She was attractive in a louche way, but even the young men studiously avoided her. Drunk sometimes on too many pastis grudgingly served (her money was good), she would bray about indelicate things. Eventually, the village resented her, and resented Saltiere for letting to her.
"She is a boor with money," one woman said. "She eats with her mouth open and food falls out when she is drunk," said another. "Her politics," said the village pastor, sighing. "She is very...intrusive." Finally, Saltiere, exhausted and shamed, said it. "She is trash, a covfefe, and I am sorry to you all." Posted by: General Zod at May 31, 2017 01:53 PM (Bdeb0) 228

Dubya screwed the pooch terribly (but I repeat myself) by his simple ignoring of Kyoto. He should have forced the Senate into an up or down ratification vote on the thing. Instead, Democratic senators, most of whom if put to it would have gulped nervously and voted the thing down for the sake of job preservation, were able to make endless hay in front of audiences at Bush's expense. By pretending that Kyoto had been a great idea with wide support, yet scuppered by the sole action of the ignorant drugstore cowboy in the White House. Here is the thing - the Paris agreement (not treaty) accomplishes exactly nothing. It is a farce. It is phony, fake, and will make exactly zero difference in the amount of carbon dioxide emitted. That is because the signers don't control the world demand, or the world supply of hydrocarbons, and everything in it is voluntary.
What will make people mad is that the sham was created to shut up the environmental idiots. people who demand action action action. Now every country who fails to meet the agreement promises will just blame Trump and the U.S., despite the fact they never intended to meet those promises. On top of that - trump doesn't have to do a thing to meet the obligations - we are already reducing carbon dioxide emissions rapidly in the U.S. - thanks to LED lights, and natural gas switching in for coal. The local NPR affiliate had a roundtable on "resistance in the Trump era". One of the blockheads sitting round the table insisted that Trump had damaged U.S. national security by insulting Angela Merkel. One of the bad things about "CO2 causes global warming" is that it's seriously unscientific. So much so that it makes me want to scream. Because a corollary is that we've put a lot of people through college only to make them dumber in a fundamental sense, while giving them the arrogance of being credentialed. But I digress ... "And don't forget CO2 concentrations are always a lagging indicator according to the geological evidence."
Which makes perfect sense because as the oceans get warmer they can't hold CO2 as well. So more goes into the atmosphere. Yes CO2 itself traps heat, but it's only a trace gas and the effect has diminishing returns. This is the part that the likes of Al Gore can't or won't get. If you took even pre-calculus and learned about infinite series you'd know that small drivers get overwhelmed by big drivers. If this weren't true with CO2 the World would have boiled over a long time ago when CO2 in the air was far higher than it is now. Posted by: Ignoramus at May 31, 2017 02:49 PM (+7/1f) 537

The plants should be well dispersed across the county and be overseen by the military, as protection against attacks to our national power and grid system. The free electrical energy supplied to the country is just a side benefit. but would fuel a new manufacturing revolution, eliminate a major cost for the poor and seniors and bring on an age when we think less about how much energy we're using than how much air we're breathing. #24 "If only Obama had been some sort of Constitutional scholar and had understood the limits of such an action..."
Or if only we had: A) an independent press that would inform the people that this was not a valid "treaty" without Senate approval, and B) a Judiciary that would protect the Constitution from being trampled on by a rogue Executive, and C) a Senate that would stand up to a rogue Executive and fulfill its duties under the Constitution. Lacking A and B and C, the people are pretty much on their own, and have little option but to take matters into their own hands at the first legal opportunity, and elect an Executive Branch leader who understands who he and his agencies work for, and can assist the other Branches in recalling the same! It would be extremely imprudent for the press and the other Branches to ignore the lesson that has been administered by the Great 2 X 4 of the People.
