My part time job is ending in September and the building will eventually be demolished. Yesterday, a seemingly rational co-worker said it's not a done deal.
WTF? The full-time people have been told that they are out of a job as of Oct. 1.
If someone who can function in the workplace can completely delude themselves that their job is not ending, it's not hard for me to grasp a brainwashed cult member killing kids.

I have worked with "mentally ill" people for over 20 years,most wouldn't hurt a fly. The religiously preoccupied Christians and Jews largely pray and read the Bible all day. Okay, they were mostly playing by the letter of the law, as the special-needs crew the state had hired to build the single-payer (well, not quite single-payer, but single-pricer) CISO. But they were ramming the shovel handle up California's ass every day by creating fake outages at this plant, that plant, etc.
And it took months, to shut that shit down.
Had I been Governor I'd have gone all FDR and sent in the National Guard to seize the power plants, and it would have taken me one day to do it. Sorry, but yes, I would have.

I worked in the Midwest Electric Utilities in the early. 1990's. Everyone in the other utilities tried to help each other out. A unit goes down, you throttled up and sold them the power for the cost of production. Things get tight, you ask your big customers to cut back and help keep the lights on across the river in that other utility. Because tomorrow it might be you begging for power.
If there was a storm, everyone in T&D came in to work, and headed across the state to help them put it together again..
Then came Enron, and everyone deciding that raping each other makes more money. What happened is everyone's customers were what got screwed.

I have to say, my style hasn't changed much since I was a teenager.
I am long legged, short waisted and busty; there are only so many styles that look good on me.
Believe me when I tell you I haven't had new clothes in years, beyond the same style jeans (skinny or slim leg) dresses ( a fitted sheath or sundress) and tops (scoop-neck Ts) ; this 70s revival that's been going on forever has kept me from it!

Her hair did look bad. It looked thin and straggly, and she looked like she had just woken up and then hastily pinned it back with a clip to take a shower. Quite a bit different from the thick head of hair she had in the photos on her hubby's election day win. I'm guessing that her teeth and tan and face-lift are not the only fake things about her.

The reality is actually pretty dull, though. A few years ago I was flying home from somewhere late and was the only one on the bus. It was right before Ramadan, and the driver was all happy and singing about the upcoming holiday.
He was very pleasant, so I wished him a happy Ramadan as I got off the bus.

At least in the Dallas area, most of the smaller Italian restaurants are owned by Bosnians. I've known the owners of the restaurant around the corner from me well for 15 years.
While they are technically Muslim, they're only slightly more Muslim than I am.
