As awful and stupid as it sounds...I sort of like candidates who punch back.

Is it anti-democratic...is it on the road to authoritarianism....is it simply tacky?

All yes.

But I still like it.

71 "Why are the Libertarians (capital L) always out there fucking things up?"

In the previous tight race in MT where the Libertarian candidate provided the crucial split of the vote to allow the Democrat to win, the (L) in question had been a registered Democrat for his entire political life until the moment he suddenly filed for office as a Libertarian.

Enough people fell for this schtick for it to be material.

72 Democratic activists are trained to get their targets to respond in a way that can be portrayed as a violent assault. This reporter is such an activist. He played his role.

The Fox News "reporter" did her part too by "buying into" what the activist sold everyone as having happened. Later she realized she had not really seen what she'd said she did. This too is a predictable effect of a trained activist/actor using emotions, words, and {re}actions to sell a narrative.

Candidates will now have to be like cops and wear body cams at all times, their staff too.

219 "I know a lot of people in other areas who said they didn't see any Trump signs"

Given the increasingly open propensity by Democrats for retaliatory criminal vandalism, there are a bunch of swing districts where it's perfectly understandable for people to not want to put up a sign for a Republican candidate.

By the way, something I noted during Trump's general election campaign: the professionally printed signs at rallies referring to "The Silent Majority".

Probably not one political reporter in ten these days can properly trace the history of that phrase to Richard Nixon. Nor parse the similarities in Nixon's underdog 1968 win to that of Trump. Nor draw the connection to former Nixon media consultant Roger Stone. Stone! You magnificent bastard!

Yup, though Gallatin Valley County, which is where Bozeman is located, is a bifurcated county when it comes to party support. There's the People's Republic of Bozeman at one end, while the rest of the county is pretty reliably conservative.

Missoula County spills over into Lake and Ravalli, with the northern part of Ravalli (just south of Missoula), being conservative.

Interestingly enough, Cascade County, which is where Great Falls is located, isn't a 50-50 split right now but going for Gianforte by seven points. Fairly significant indicator.

No Democrat here, but I hated it before and hate it an equal amount now.

I love irony as much as I hate early voting, though.

It won't last more than a day, but I'd be shocked if there wasn't a loud contingent on the left who decided that early voting was voter suppression somehow.

They'll completely forget the argument next week when they lose the GA runoff but the Democrat will win the early votes for some reason.

There's a difference between "I'm planning on being out of the area on election day," and "We're keeping the polls open for three weeks beforehand and anyone who wants to request an early ballot for any reason can get one."

"Early voting" has developed a connotation that excludes absentee ballots, despite absentee ballots technically being a form of it.

I think all state voting laws should be modeled on New York (no early voting, registration required weeks before the election, hard to get an absentee ballot, etc.)

Since the Democrats never complain about New York's voting procedures, they must be acceptable.

I can see reasonable accomodations like absentee ballots and would not be averse to *limited* - no more than a few days - early voting. But I also want in-person registration with eligibility documentation and Voter ID.

And a pony. A pony would be nice.

The Crow Indians are livid over the closure of two of the Coalstrip power generating units. They made it know during this special election cycle as to what they think of this environmentalist action (the electricity from the four generating units there goes mostly to Seattle and Portland).

328 It will be interesting to see post-election polling.

I suspect most Trump voters in Montana are like me -

I No Longer Care What The Media Says, About Anything.

Look - it's obvious that the media, in collusion with the intelligence agencies and the rest of the Deep State, are engaging in a slow-motion coup against Trump.

I get that.

I don't care what the Washington Post says, and I'm going to assume if a Guardian reporter says he was assaulted by a Republican candidate, that the Republican candidate was set up.
