Good Job, PDT

Another good column by Kurt Schlichter, with one of the best openings I've read in a while:

Looking at it objectively, as a guy who opposed Trump until he dispatched Ted Cruz, I have to consider all the facts and ponder the evidence carefully before awarding Donald Trump the grade of A+. He has done an incredible job of doing exactly what I had hoped he would do in the off chance he defeated that naggy harridan and her corps of gender indeterminate hipsters, coastal snobs, race hustlers, aspiring libfascists, media scum, and wussy pseudo-conservatives terrified that a Hillary loss would mean people might expect them to do more than wear bow ties and go on NPR to prattle about Burke in their high-pitched, nasal voices.

72 All about context.

WRT the judicial coup - which remains unchallenged - Trump and Co. get an F - but the context is that they are facing the most bald-faced, brazen lawlessness from the judiciary seen so far (which is saying something), so an appropriate response (repudiation) would be an awesome and historic development, fraught with its own risks.

On reinjecting politics into politics - i.e. put people on the spot, make them choose on high-profile issues where public sentiment is clear - the administration has been very disappointing ..... but the context is that it's very early, yet. On O-care repeal, on border security, to take the most prominent examples - it is hard to see that any serious and aggressive political strategy was even considered, it has been more passive, and administrative. Translation: don't just sit there and take some crap that Ryan offers up as "reform", and by all means accept the Dems' invitation to make opposition to border security a "govt. shut-down" issue.

On below-the-radar administrative actions - A+. But that's a performance level that's almost a "minimum" to start turning the ship in the right direction, so dire is the situation.

I'm loving all her clothes and hair choices and her visits to hospitals. Wish the msm would report it, but graciousness is foreign to them.

It looks like she has her hair partitioned and either teased at the back of her crown or she is wearing something in her hair to bump it up at the back of her crown.

This is a good tutorial for the low-messy-chignon, but it doesn't bump up at the crown:

When I saw those crime scene photos of the bomb paraphernalia from Manchester in the NYT yesterday, I said to myself, "Someone is sharing things they shouldn't be sharing." None of those pictures should have been publicized. It's one thing to share photos of the general carnage taken by actual witnesses; it's another thing entirely to literally show the evidence mere days after the incident with the investigation still ongoing. I don't blame the UK for getting skittish.

So let's analyze recent events.

Russia and the US are (at least nominally) at war with ISIS together. Trump shares some intelligence with Russia on ISIS and...it is the end of the world.

Meanwhile Britain is the US's closest ally*. Someone in the intelligence community leaked information from the Brits to the NYT either to embarrass Trump or just because people will classified intelligence leak it as a matter of course now.

Do I have that about right? Could whoever leaked this latest intel be brought up on treason charges? Why not? Besides of course Trump not daring to go there.

Meaning he has the daunting challenge of running against, and over the heads of, much of "his own" party, to enact the key elements of his agenda.

But it's doable, however difficult it is. But it's gotta be done. And it starts by putting key GOP opponents on the spot. Vulnerable ones. We'll see. But the country's future right now is more dependent on terror in the GOP ranks than among the Dems.

If she were married to a Democrat, we'd hear the media fawning over her all day long. She is a credit to the country as First Lady.
....

I watched her playing with the Cruz girls during one of the debates. She seems to be a nice lady who loves children.

The double standard induces rage in me. It borders on misogyny when you see how the wives and daughters of Repubs are treated with such contempt when they do wonderful things. Someone here brought up how the Bush girls, who were actually out in the field teaching black kids to read and helping sick people, were treated compared to Chelsea, who was working at a hedge fund.

I could go on. Do NOT get me started on how lovely intelligent sweet Laura Bush has been treated by people who should know better.

166 I'm making a pizza using Paula Dean's cauliflower crust recipe. We'll see. It's particularly weird because all I had on hand was a bright purple cauliflower (did not know they came in that hue).

I'm topping it with sauce, fresh mozz, and lots of little anchovies. The cheese is starting to turn bubbly and brown.

167 One thing I feel Trump should get more credit for is bringing up how the world is freeloading off the US military.

The world was outraged that Trump had the balls to say "Germany needs to pay 2% of NATO costs"

I'm still floored Germany can't even fund 2% of NATO since it was basically formed to protect Germany from being invaded.

This is REAL money, and how many decades has this been going on with nobody saying a word?

Research police procedures and you will find that doesn't mean anything unless the Montana guy tried to file a complaint and the police refused. I don't think I have ever heard of the police officially refusing to allow someone to file a complaint. Around here it cost something like $80 dollars to file a complaint.

178 I'm not giving PDT a grade, but I think he's doing just fine. Considering that all of DC is against him, with minor exceptions, the Overton Window is getting shoved so far right it's in the next building now.

I think we will see a gubmint shutdown, maybe more than one. We may even see a very rare bird, a bipartisan effort to overrule a preezy veto of a budget bill. Oh how the squishes will hate having to do that. I'd love to them having to show their true colors. But since the Hill is declaring Trump's proposed budget DOA, the scenario is setting up.

re the eventual shutdown, if Trump would do just this one thing, he will hold the whip hand -- He should say that those that miss work because of the shutdown will not be made whole. No work, no pay.

It was fair game, Dukakis was soft on crime.

Interesting and that does cast it in a different light.

Still, considering NATO was formed to basically protect a European invasion (with Germany on the front line )by the Soviet Union, what justification is there that they contribute so little for their own defense?

This in Spades. We are way to eager to turn on our own to throw them under the bus and the Left is ready to pounce and go for the kill when it happens. This is what frustrates me the most I think. We play the nice guys while the Left plays by a completely different set of rules.
Several of the papers who have endorsed the Republican candidate have now withdrawn their endorsements, you would never see the Left doing that. What we Should be doing is actively praising this guy and calling for more action like it.
The Left declared open season on Conservatives a long time ago, we stand around still wringing our hands and talking about civility. Currently Media Matters has Hannity in their sights and we are doing nothing in the way of push back. The Left smells the blood in the water and is going in for the kill on Conservative media figures.
So we will do the same thing we always do sit around on our thumbs and do nothing but hope they pass us by and eat us last because we were nice and didn't say mean things or allow people to say mean things.

Always go on attack if you even suggest they should, but not even trump is asked to apologize for this GOP rep in Montana the left cares not a rats ass about.

Nobody on CNN asks the woman who tried to drive our guy off the road, much more serious than this an uncalled for, if she is a culture stain on Dems at large. Do they?

Why is Paul Ryan not going on attack and not falling for the trap of hypoethetically what he would do, and not asking about milo and the lefts first response to call for physical response?

Only the right is millstoned and we keep taking it. That's why they keep whipping us. You make or try to make lemonade from lemons by changing the subject of gotchas into attack responses as a first instinct not an afterthought.

When Are we gonna learn we hang together or swing on the rope separately?

Dems never make this error. No dem will be impeached bc they will support a high criminal and we nixonize ours in seconds over no reward for it in return.

Our guy, trump, Cruz, Nixon, even over some modest judgement error and Dems will find condemning repubs like McCain who undercut our defense and agree with no tolerance for any error, it's just maddening...

Posted by: Me at May 25, 2017 02:52 PM (idhyN)

205 Dems are total blind tribalists, and our side is totally acting civil and always as a first instinct distancing, the exact opposite and it's just maddening. We will never win and function as an effective united fighting force like that. Just like all the infighting over budgets, walls, etc. if Dems thought they needed a wall it would be built in minutes. Our guy disputes a fact disputed kerfuffle in less than 48 hours of analaysis and 6 papers withdraw endorsements, no way would Dems do that to their disputing person, so don't whine and say this is another akin moment, we do that to ourselves by not being united against a bigger foe, the left.

Why is our guy not being given any momentary wagon circling doubt? Would Dems, who sadly we could learn from in messaging, do this even with undisputed evidence?

Think about it.

It's about the fight in the dog, not the dog on the fight...
