Former Smiths Frontman Morrissey: At What Point Do We Say Aloud That There's a Problem In Islam?

Maybe the UK isn't quite done -- if beloved and also much-derided mope-rock titan Morrissey has had it with the polite-fiction euphemisms for radical Islamic terror, maybe people have finally had enough.

At one point in his post about the incident, Morrissey calls for leaders to officially say "what we all say in private," by which he appears to mean condemning Islam.

Or, you know, admitting the truth that while Islam itself may not be the problem, there is a real and serious problem within Islam.

Or, as Spin does here, we can continue pretending that away.

"Manchester mayor Andy Burnham says the attack is the work of an 'extremist,'" he writes. "An extreme what? An extreme rabbit?"

Morrissey has had a long history of saying more-than-questionable things about immigration in Britain, and last year called the Brexit decision "magnificent."

Here's Morrissey's full post, which is of course subjecting him to attacks of "racism" for saying things which are rated True But Forbidden.

Celebrating my birthday in Manchester as news of the Manchester Arena bomb broke. The anger is monumental.

For what reason will this ever stop?

Theresa May says such attacks "will not break us", but her own life is lived in a bullet-proof bubble, and she evidently does not need to identify any young people today in Manchester morgues. Also, "will not break us" means that the tragedy will not break her, or her policies on immigration. The young people of Manchester are already broken -- thanks all the same, Theresa.

[Islamic London mayor] Sadiq Khan says "London is united with Manchester", but he does not condemn Islamic State -- who have claimed responsibility for the bomb. The Queen receives absurd praise for her 'strong words' against the attack, yet she does not cancel today's garden party at Buckingham Palace – for which no criticism is allowed in the Britain of free press. Manchester mayor Andy Burnham says the attack is the work of an "extremist" An extreme what? An extreme rabbit?

In modern Britain everyone seems petrified to officially say what we all say in private. Politicians tell us they are unafraid, but they are never the victims. How easy to be unafraid when one is protected from the line of fire. The people have no such protections.

Morrissey

I guess what he's asking is, as regards when we need to speak frankly about the carnage inflicted on us every month, how soon is now?

13 The people can have "had enough" all they want. It's way too late. They've got the Sharia mayor in London and the most excellent constabulary in Rotherham and Theresa May bowing and scraping like a reincarnation of the JEF. At this point, if Wills Kate wanted to bundle up their adorable children and move elsewhere, I would totally get it.

I don't think it's as direct as that.

86 No, the problem is islam. Individual muslims may be as worthy of redemption as any other, their core belief structure not only condones these acts of madness but actually demands them.

Until the very tenets of islam are challenged this virulent strain of evil will continue to grow, and the weak fall prey to its supremacist doctrines.

Peter king on FNC saying the Muslims here are good ones.
--

He's right, to a certain extent.

We generally make our immigrants work. They are forced to learn the language, send their kids to school, and "become American." They can go to 4th of July parties and people accept them. Many who came here before 9/11 did not WANT the life they were living in the Middle East.

Not so in Europe. Benefits you cannot imagine. Free housing. Free.. everything. Work? Not required. Learn the language? Not required. Europe is bending over backwards for them. However... they will never be "French" or "Italian" or "Swedish." So they create their own ghettos with their own laws and voila! Problems. Big problems.

Your mileage may vary, as it seems to me that voters in a lot of countries are voting for parties with certain domestic policies and not for international policies per se. "Woodward's book portrays Obama and the White House as barraged by warnings about the threat of terrorist attacks on U.S. soil and confronted with the difficulty in preventing them. During an interview with Woodward in July, the president said, 'We can absorb a terrorist attack. We'll do everything we can to prevent it, but even a 9/11, even the biggest attack ever . . . we absorbed it and we are stronger.' "

'That statement's going to be talked a lot about, I expect. Already, the widely read conservative blog Ace of Spades is saying that Obama's talking about a bargain: "If only we didn't overreact to the occasional mass-murder, we could go about our business without war, without increased security measures, without 'Islamophobia,' without the rest of it."'

I caught just a brief snippet of Hannity's radio show yesterday evening, and he was openly using the "M" word to describe Rich's death.

Not discreetly nibbling around the edge of the topic as certain other conservative pundits have been doing.

I must say that some of the purported accounts of events from physicians at the hospital where the wounded Rich was taken are incredibly damning stuff, if true.

The sort of thing that would happen if very high level TPTB figures had casually ordered that an untrustworthy flunky be whacked, then realized to their horror that the hit man had bungled the job, and that they now had to ensure that the target didn't leave the hospital still breathing.

The movie didn't do well at the box office but word spread and large numbers of my generation saw it on TV or, according to this article, in other venues. I remember being a bit horrified by the movie at the time

213 139 - yes, somehow May's remarks on the attack - even though they echoed many other statements in similar circumstances over the past 15 years, and even though there is rarely any way to say anything new or useful in these circumstances - still seemed especially boring, and clueless.

"They won't divide us" - the instant, standard, yet mystifying piety that is a staple of these post-attack statements. WTF is that about? What does "divide us" even mean, practically speaking? They (the Brits) are already divided - between jihadis, jihad-friendly Muslims, assimilated non-jihad-friend Muslims, clueless multi-culturalist nitwits, anti-multi-culturalist "nationalists" (for want of a better term), etc.

Snap election? OK. What's the point? Will bold new policies actually be proposed, making the elections a referendum of sorts?

Bottom line: Brits, as a whole, have put up with this, and worse, and will continue to get even more of the worst of both worlds - increased orwellian intolerance and authoritarianism and thought-policing, AND barbaric mayhem from the jihadis. Very little reason to thing Brits will now, suddenly, start acting intelligently and humanely.

236 In 1991, Sally Field starred in a movie, Not Without My Daughter, that was based on a true story...
------

I had an acquaintance in Atlanta who married an Iranian, before the 'troubles'. She recounted the change in his attitude when she returned with him to Iran. It was a nightmare, and she was most intimidated by the women in his family.

She fled, via the U.S Embassy.

Always been mildly astonished that 9-11 didn't produce a backlash that left muslims cowering in cellars ever since.

It says volumes about the innate goodness of our countrymen, and the vacillating weaselness of our elected officials.

No real idea if this will ever change, or what might change it.

254 191 In one of the interviews at the Sun piece, the person described knowing that Killerboy's dad was prominent in a certain mosque, and conducted the call to prayer. Killerboy's brother also plays a big role there.

But then the interviewee said that he didn't know if Killerboy even worshiped at this particular mosque. "There are so many mosques", he explained.

I think I see the problem there.

I noticed that, too. The interviewee said he had never seen the killer at the mosque.

The founder/cofounder/key person of the Muslim Brotherhood came to
the USA and found American women were not the least bit interested in
'swarthy middle-east types'

From what I read, he went to a church dance in Greeley and the women there were interested. It blew his mind, probably because he was a closet case.

Posted by: boulder terlit hobo at May 23, 2017 07:22 PM (6FqZa)
Boulder, don't slander American women. I've read the passage and he was absolutely fixated on the fact that women preferred American men with their bulging muscles and tight shirts. (And having seen photos of my farmer great-grandfather and his neighbors in work clothes, I can imagine why the ladies preferred them to some foreign "intellectual"!)
I thought it was the most hilarious passage since it was shared with me by a friend after my apartment building's Muslim maintenance man started getting revenge on me for rejecting him. He tried to sweet-talk me when we first moved in by offering to run cable into our apartment; I said that would be stealing and I wasn't a thief. (My roommate really wanted cable but he wasn't interested in her. Ha ha. He also had a live-in girlfriend, a busty blonde.)
Much hilarity ensued, including the time he decided to call the cops because of noise EVERY TIME we had men visiting. The last time, we were playing board games with my roomies' little brother and the cops were totally apologetic.
Funny thing is that when we finally were fed up, it took just one call to the landlord to bring him to heel. Our landlord was also Muslim but of the second-generation Americans who absolutely loved the US.

In case you haven't noticed, WE ARE LOSING THE FUCKING CULTURE WAR.

The penchant by "our side" of driving away anyone who isn't 100% Of The Body is . . . unappealing to me.

That is all.

No, there's more: when pop music artists start coming out with radical liberty-oriented statements, then you will know that the tide of the culture war has turned.

Maybe it will take more 16-year-old girls being slaughtered by Mohammadan barbarians to turn the tide. I don't know.

But it seems silly to slap away any hand even tentatively stretched in our direction.

THAT is all.

Where's the ONT?

269 Remember that pali killer that snuck into an israeli home and murdered a little girl?

The perp was imprisoned and later released in yet another useless peace deal.

270 We must say there is a problem IN Islam. The alternative is unpalatable. The problem is that Islam has not been through any kind of reformation to make it compatible with a pluralistic society.

Reform it and most will follow. I don't wish to condemn people because their leadership are a bunch of sick psychopaths. And this reformation can not be done by outsiders. It must come from within.

It is going to require a very public controversy and it will likely require the figurehead to be martyred so that the movement can continue beyond death.

The problem is that to say "there is a problem in Islam" is to deny Islam entirely.

There is no path to "reformation" of Islam, because the Koran is the infallible, final, accept-no-substitute Word Of God.

THAT is the problem.

Islam, reformed, will no longer be Islam at all, any more than Islam claims to have its roots in Christianity and Judaism, and supplants them both.

It will require a new Prophet.

Which, of course, according to Islam, cannot ever be.

This leads to some very, very, very depressing conclusions.

274 All of Europe is dead men walking. The left in America are trying to replicate Europe's cultural suicide. When cupcake insane leftists like Christine Fair attack Richard Spencer at a health club gym without fear of reprisal, we're left to wonder: 1) will this leftist insanity prevail or 2) will a tipping point be reached where violent men take the fight to the left. If and when the reaction is finally catalyzed, the left is going to be stunned by the rapidity and violence of the response.

I can't see things changing via ballots or the legal system at this point. Somebody is going to push the wrong button and there are going to be a lot of lefties piled in the streets.
