Anyone here watch 'Alpha House'? Of course it's a caricature of Republicans. But they seem to have modeled one of the characters on 'little Marco Rubio'.

There's actually some fun stuff in every episode but you have to be able to laugh at some of the stuff Republicans do - without getting pissed off.

30 Asshole McCain said this morning that The Russian Ambassador had "no business" being in the Oval office. If I remember correctly, Lavov has been in his position since 2004, so I'm sure it wasn't the first time he's been there. Did McCain ever have anything to say about this when Bush or Obama were president.

Yeah, and every last drop of respect I had for what McCain went through in 'Nam has just about evaporated. His suffering doesn't give him carte blanch to be an asshole for the rest of his life.
And besides, Benedict Arnold as a war hero at one time too.

My two cents: liberals don't believe in evil. Many are amoral and have "situational values." That means they do things others would consider "evil" or "morally wrong." They also know these things are wrong, but cannot handle being called on out their behavior, since they cannot be subjected to anything negative about themselves.

So the word "evil" triggers them.

Also... many liberals are terrified of death. I wonder why...

224 Ike: "Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed."

While contemplating the large arms deal President Trump signed with the Saudis, I thought of President Eisenhower today. Wouldn't it be great if that was a contract for farm equipment instead of weapons? Liberals used to think like that, too. Yet Obama's weakness has left the Mid-East in flames, and by favoring and arming Iran, Obama made this arms deal necessary, even mandatory.

It wasn't classic liberal weakness per se--it was worse; Obama actually colluded with Iran's dictators and many other despots across the globe.

Regardless, whether Obama's reflexive cringe was passive or aggressive, President Trump is charged with cleaning up the wreckage. Even President Trump's recent Syrian airstrikes were dictated by Obama's Retreat From Freedom. Critics charge President Trump with a fondness for strongmen, but dictators never had a better friend than Obama.

*Syrians would have thrown off Assad and be free today but for Obama's Ayatollah-fetish.
*The young people of Iran were on the brink of toppling the Mullahs until Obama single-handedly rescued them and condemned the Iranian people to additional years of oppression. Not to mention the carnage Iran inflicts on its neighbors.
*In Cuba, he rescued the military dictatorship there.
*He tried mightily to impose the Muslim Brotherhood on Egyptians.

Obama won his Nobel Peace Prize for Being Awesome and Arms Control but Mostly for Being Awesome. But millions of people live with death, war, terrorism and oppression because of Barack Obama. That's why I call him "Pres. Reagan-in-Reverse".

Trump has taken up the Reagan mantle of Peace Through Strength and is turning our posture back to traditional American allies, traditional American values, traditional American victory and to traditional American sanity.

Celebrate!

Q: What do Steven Colbert and Donald Trump have in common?

A: They both pull out their swords and dance with men in robes on the weekend!

286 I still can't find a list of participating countries at this Arab-Islamic American Summit. I saw some were the less-known ones in Africa like Gambia and other dinky Muslim countries. Others were from the belt of Islamic countries on the southern border of Russia, like Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

Clearly, no Shi'a Muslim countries were there. This was a Sunni Muslim gathering.

I noticed that not only did the American women go uncovered (without hijab) but they allowed Jared and Ivanka, two Orthodox Jews, in the heart of Islam. That almost never happens as a matter of Saudi law.

The order of speeches was notable. The Saudi king was as antiterrorist as he's ever been. Then Trump was pretty confrontational in his speech with a lot of loaded phrases (but no "Islamic terrorism") but did include a few choice phrases like "vile creed" so PDT was pretty tough. Then Trump was immediately followed by two of the most strident anti-terrorist Arab leaders: the king of Jordan and al-Sisi of Egypt, both of whom have given real barn-burner anti-terrorism speeches more than once.

Apparently, the excitement was too much for Wilbur Ross who seemed to fall asleep toward the end of Trump's speech.

"Then Trump

Given what the Islamic State goons routinely do to captured Jordanian officers, perhaps "barn-burner" isn't the most felicitous of metaphors here.

"Apparently, the excitement was too much for Wilbur Ross who seemed to fall asleep toward the end of Trump's speech."

Ross resembles nothing more than one of those elderly Soviet apparatchiks of the late 1970s era who had to have aides arouse them to applaud after lengthy Poliburo presentations.

And, wherever possible, we will seek gradual reforms not sudden intervention.

We must seek partners, not perfection and to make allies of all who share our goals.

The official Saudi summit website does not name the countries.

Shi'a countries like Iran are considered heretics, not Islamic countries. This summit was for the Sunni club which does comprise 90% of the Muslim world.

I didn't see Erdogan himself there even though there was a table for Turkey. Maybe his PM came instead.

I am interested in whether Iraq attended but I would think so. Iraq is 85% Muslim of which 65% are Shi'a and 35% Sunni but it almost has to be considered a partner against ISIS terrorism. Since the Kurds were mentioned, that is a hot-button to both the Turks and the Iraqis, given the question of Kurd ambitions to create a Kurdistan.

I saw a Donald Trump pointing to a carrot and stick. Mentioning great architecture, like the pyramids and others, then contrasting with how ISIS tears down architecture.

The 'charm' part of the offensive was merely for the purpose of contrasting with what would be in store for those countries which ignored the warning.

Yes, he polished their apple, then in effect said, 'Shame if something happened to that apple.' Damn good strategy, but perhaps a tad on the Mafioso way of explaining things.

Interesting that a non-country, "State of Palestine", was included but not Kosovo, a declared secular state now recognized by 111 countries (including all those present at the summit) and which happens to be 96% Muslim, 4% Christian. So Kosovo would be "more Muslim" than Egypt, the biggest Arab country. And Kosovo is America's own created Muslim nation so I would have expected to see them there barking like a well-trained doggie.
