Why is this suddenly ok? Since when did someone reading from a piece of paper rise to the level of FACT rather than unsubstantiated opinion? I'm guessing it was somewhere between noon and 1pm on January 20th.

No link for the NYT.

WASHINGTON — President Trump told Russian officials in the Oval Office this month that firing the F.B.I. director, James B. Comey, had relieved “great pressure” on him, according to a document summarizing the meeting.
“I just fired the head of the F.B.I. He was crazy, a real nut job,” Mr. Trump said, according to the document, which was read to The New York Times by an American official. “I faced great pressure because of Russia. That’s taken off.”

For all I know this is legit, but it just seems a bit too convenient for me.

We argue that the conceptual penis is better understood not as an anatomical organ but as a gender-performative, highly fluid social construct." As if to prove philosopher David Hume's claim that there is a deep gap between what is and what ought to be, our should-never-have-been-published paper was published in the open-access (meaning that articles are freely accessible and not behind a paywall), peer-reviewed journal Cogent Social Sciences. (In case the PDF is removed, we've archived it.)

Assuming the pen names "Jamie Lindsay" and "Peter Boyle," and writing for the fictitious "Southeast Independent Social Research Group," we wrote an absurd paper loosely composed in the style of post-structuralist discursive gender theory. The paper was ridiculous by intention, essentially arguing that penises shouldn't be thought of as male genital organs but as damaging social constructions. We made no attempt to find out what "post-structuralist discursive gender theory" actually means. We assumed that if we were merely clear in our moral implications that maleness is intrinsically bad and that the penis is somehow at the root of it, we could get the paper published in a respectable journal.

106 Empress it was pretty amazing to learn how many cinephiles loved that movie.

Today, in spite of the lighting, thunder, and monsoon rains, was pretty fun. Got to meet and chat with a Sky Soldier who did 17 months in Vietnam and with an RA-5C pilot who became a POW. It was fun to watch then banter and argue over who had the more confusing designation system: the Army with their Charlie company/1st brigade/blah blah blah versus the Nay's carrier air wings and tail codes.

Also learned the fuel mileage of an RA-5C - 6 miles to 150 gallons.
