Trump's Leading Pick to Head FBI? Joe Lieberman

I'm not happy about this, but I guess when you're in a weak position, you have a limited menu of choices.

The "Elites" of #TheResistance are winning in their bid for a coup, and Trump hasn't been able to thwart them. I realize this is something that causes a lot of controversy to say, but it's true.

Maybe no one could stand up to this onslaught. Maybe Trump's bobbles and stumbles are just background noise in relation to the quasar-level signal the #Resistance is pumping out.

But so far, he's losing.

They do intend for a coup.

I don't believe they've planned out the aftermath of a coup.

It will be... messy.

Once you've formally announced to the public that their decisions simply do not matter, and that a niche subculture of the country gets to exercise an extra-constitutional veto on any decision they don't approve of -- once you've made it plain that America is a government with a nation, not a nation with a government -- what exactly is it that binds the people to a government that cannot in any way be described as "their" government?

The old bromide was that we have to respect the will of the people when we lose, if for no other reason that we count on others respecting the will of the people when they lose.

But now that that social contract has been entirely disavowed by a large minority of the country -- now that they've made it plain that they will have no government except one they control at the expense of their enemies -- what possible reason could they suggest to citizens why they must respect the next president, or the one after that?

#Resistance is a two-way street, fellers.

Oh, by the way:

24 Yes, Comey said under oath that he wasn't pressured.

But something about this 'memo' story-- Comey isn't on record saying that stuff. Only anonymous people claiming to be 'close' to him, saying vague things. IOW, absolutely no one that can be held accountable. And not Comey himself.

So it could be a lie, an exaggeration, a hoax, a semi-truth, a distortion, or a complete fabrication by the reporters themselves. And Comey can, at some point down the road, completely disavow any or all of it. Which is probably intentional to the way he's playing the whole thing.

The more that plays out in this, the more convinced I am that Comey is the capo for the whole conspiracy.

25 The things is this: when Trump is attacked, he attacks back. But like everyone else, Trump doesn't like being attacked in the first place. Maybe he thinks he can mollify his enemies. Spoiler alert: he can't.

If we say its so, it must be!"
-The left

I think its based on the second hand report of a memo Comey supposedly wrote about in his diary saying that Trump asked him if he could drop the investigation into Flynn now that he had resigned. Just a guess.

The "logic" goes like this: this was an attempt to get Comey to ignore justice to protect Flynn, who was guilty of colluding with Russians to win the election, so since Comey did not, Trump fired him.

------
Points of Relevance to follow.
1. The FBI has federal authority (it's in the name) in all the states and all the territories.
2. The FBI is counter-intelligence and counter-terror in states and territories, NOT THE CIA!!! (That last emphasis for all the ex-hippy conspiracy theorists.)
3. The FBI is the go-to agency to investigate government-related corruption. At least when James Comey is not in charge.
4. The FBI can sift your paper mail, sift your electronic mail, listen in on your phone, access your personal records all the way back. Then decide if they can arrest and charge you based on all of it. Wouldn't you want a reasonable and trustworthy person in charge of it?

The money men thought for two seconds and said, yeah, no.

So McInsane basically just randomly picked Sarah Palin out of a basket of names once he'd been denied his first-round draft choice. Go back and look at his initial descriptions of her. The guy wasn't familiar with the most basic aspects of her record.

I said yesterday that Muler entering the scene frees up Pres Trump to appoint anyone he wishes to the FBI.

Now that everything "russia" is now in the unimpeachable hands of St Robert, Trump can appoint a staunch conservative to FBI.

127 So McInsane basically just randomly picked Sarah Palin out of a basket of names once he'd been denied his first-round draft choice. Go back and look at his initial descriptions of her. The guy wasn't familiar with the most basic aspects of her record.

People seem to think that candidates pick their running mates. They don't. They get picked by the party. McCain despised Palin, but was convinced she'd get the hobbits he hated in on the vote. Almost worked.

137 Here's a rationale for floating Lieberman:

The usual suspects go nucking futs over every. single. thing. Trump says or does.

So float Lieberman, a reasonably honorable, Left-Center pick. Lefties aren't enamored of him, so they go crazy as usual.

That further shreds their credibility -- they can't even agree to an olive branch/compromise pick like Lieberman.

I dunno--I'm just hoping. But I'm not going to despair, since hell will freeze over before I trust "media reports" again without something like a 2-week waiting period.

He was surprised by the number of positions that normally need to be staffed by a new administration, and considering that the left has infested and politicized the federal bureaucracy, he should have been ready to replace a lot more.

If there had been a big bloodbath in february with people lined up to take over, would this slow-motion coup run as smoothly as it does right now?

They have to know that if they vote to confirm Lieberman they're going to face hell come reelection. Trump just signaled that he's willing to fuck them over if they are against him.

In fact, I wouldn't put it past Trump to ditch the GOP and announce sometime prior to the 2018 elections that he's now an Independent. Lieberman would give him credibility as one, and it would free him to use his considerable influence to help Dems or Republicans as he sees fit.

Now if McCain had picked a different running mate, I would have voted for him reluctantly, because I knew Obama was a Commie and a Muzzie-lover, and was dangerous as hell.

Actually, just tie the Congressional pension to the length of service in Congress.

The longer you serve, the less you get.

Start it at 20 million a year and start taking away for terms served.

Determined later, he was lead singer for a 90's band called Soundgarden, which sucked.

I can prove they sucked, by logical deduction. If they were a popular band, they were all over the radio. Right? And if any of their stuff was any good, I would have heard it, and said, "Hey! That band's not bad. Who are they?" Since that never happened, they suck. QED

How do you read that into my post? What get's played, gets played. Most of it sucks. Sometimes a decent tune (to my ears) gets played. If I hear it, and like it, I might try to hear more from the artist, maybe even buy the album. Never happened with Soundgarden. Or REM, or Nirvana, or one fuck of a lot of other bands.

Yeah, there may be (and are) a lot of totally awesome artists that don't get airplay on Top 40 radio. But we were talking about Soundgarden, which did get airplay out the ying-yang, and sucked, by virtue of the fact that whatever of their work I heard did not engage me one iota.

Gowdy has already said flat out he is not the man for that job.

Oh well.

I like Gowdy. But he would have to take action. That is not his thing. Talk. Talk, Talk.

469 So when the liberals coup Trump's comb-over out of office, our answer is to #resist the next President? Right...that'll show em.

That strategy assumes we have a working party to foster said resistance like the Dems. Which we know is horseshit. Because in eight years of that fucking communist dick sucker, we had such men of backbone leading the resistance in our favor.

Face it. It's commies+liberals+republicans vs half of America.

We have no political outlet to resist shit. Politically, any way.

470 I binged-watched Firefly. When's the next season?

Posted by: Charles the Simple at May 18, 2017 11:10 PM (w7U7L)

471 It sure doesn't feel like "winning", but Trump hasn't technically "lost" anything, the charges against him are a complete joke, all signs are that nobody really cares, and everything always backfires against Trump.

If you really think about it, everything the "coup" is trying is pathetically ridiculous. Investigations without crimes. Claims of obstruction of an investigation that was never obstructed. If SNL were funny, they'd make a skit about it.

Trump is still getting situated in his new digs. When the return volleys come, it will be sweet. Because he apparently ISN'T corrupt (or they'd be able to do better), but THEY'RE so corrupt, it's not even funny.

472 I really enjoyed Firefly but didn't binge-watch it. I cannot imagine another season.

Story is she did the show as an expanded version of a one-woman play she initially performed at the Edinburgh arts festival a couple years ago.

Very talented woman.

480 "Maybe no one could stand up to this onslaught."

bullshit... it isn't that the onslaught can not be withstood, it can, but first you must elect someone WILLING to withstand it.

we haven't done that yet, and Trump, for all his bravado, is not that guy.
