5 Whoa whoa whoa

Shit status, real

Proud Boys is an alt right group started by Gavin McInnes as a mens rights/anti rad fem group. Proud boys have acted as security escorts for right speakers before.

Based Stickman, the iconic alt right protestor made famous in the first Berkeley riots, (see side bar) is forming the Fraternal Order of Alt-Knights or FOAK. They are partnering with Proud Boys

They will act as a paramilitary protective group at speeches and demonstrations when local authorities have been issued stand down orders or refused to act to protect the right.

A paramilitary protection force is being created because civil authorities have refused to protect the rights of the people

9 "A paramilitary protection force is being created because civil authorities have refused to protect the rights of the people "

This evolution was predicted by the left many years ago.

I brought this up yesterday, that I would have much rather seen the President federalize the applicable National Guard units, and enforce protection of those exercising their constitutional rights.

Kennedy did it in Alabama in 1963, during desegregation, and the left lauds him for those forceful actions to protect our civil rights.

45 Good on the guy with the building shaker. At one point during my Nashville days, I had a noisy upstairs neighbor who insisted on playing movies and music with the bass thumping. After months of going upstairs and politely asking him to turn down the volume I finally struck back.

I was a musician. I had a PA system for shows. I hooked it up to my home sound system and pointed the speakers upwards with them leaning against the walls for maximum vibratory effect. Then I played the artillery barrage from the movie Gettysburg over and over again. (This: https://youtu.be/RrY81GZgrtg )

After about 30 minutes he came down, knocked on my door, and said, "OK, you win."

Never had another noise issue with him.

Maybe, but you can see how they could also use it to advance their agenda:

"Aaron Hernandez was so terrified by how this homophobic society might react to his homosexuality that he repeatedly killed in order to keep his sexuality secret. He killed his own friend, Odin Lloyd, because when Lloyd found out about Hernandez' sexual preferences, Lloyd mocked and belittled him. Hernandez was afraid his Patriots' teammates would do the same to him. In the end, he decided he'd rather be dead than live openly as a homosexual.

This is why homosexuals need special protections in the law. We have to stop the h8te! It kills!"

He's been consistently critical of China, especially over their treatment of Tibet. He deserves kudos for that.

But I find it kind of difficult to be sympathetic after he showed his ass at the 9/11 memorial concert 16 years ago, asking for understanding and peace with the mohammedans, and calling for the US to essentially forgo vengeance.

58 I've been reading "Hollywood Party", about the communist party influence in Hollywood/movie making.

Right now, the book is in 1947, and once WWII was over, the party is up to disrupting the system and calling the US Government imperialist nazis.

Funny, reading this, and realizing how little things sometimes change, and how these things run in cycles. So much of the communist party inspired rhetoric then (1946-47, criticising HUAC) sounds so much like the Trump criticism floating around now. Makes you go.......hmmmmm.

Part of the story in this era is about the actors from all political spectrums (liberal, conservative, Democrat, Republican) that sort of organized in the MPA to resist the communist influence. And there was this guy in SAG that was heavily involved ....Ronald Reagan.

Get a few of the planes they use to fight forest fires, do water drops, done.

77 Glen Campbell turns 81 years old today. Singer, songwriter, actor, TV presenter. Hits include 'By the Time I Get to Phoenix', 'Wichita Lineman', and 'Rhinestone Cowboy'.

As a session musician in the 1960s he worked with Bobby Darin, Ricky Nelson, The Monkees, Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, The Mamas the Papas. He was a touring member of The Beach Boys, filling in for an ailing Brian Wilson in 1964/65.

His guitar playing can be heard on 'Strangers in the Night' by Frank Sinatra, 'You've Lost That Lovin Feelin' by The Righteous Brothers and I'm a Believer' by The Monkees.

Sadly, Glen Campbell suffers from Alzheimer's, and is unable to speak or play his guitar now.

Honestly, I don't have a problem with "artists," if that's what they are, movie/tv performers, pop musicians, being anti-war, anti-violence and all that stuff.

What I do have a problem with, is the lack of consistency from these people, and then the actual, you know, adults and serious thinkers, taking their words seriously.

Gere can be opposed to action against any particular religion. I don't have a problem with that. It's not his fault that he fails to note that THAT particular "religion" isn't really a religion but a death cult bent on killing everybody outside their organization.

79 Two days later, help arrived as the Environmental Protection Agency formulated a plan. Three days later, on Wednesday morning, the federal agency went to work. According to this news report, the smoke and fire have been largely quelled, but as you can see, the smoke and toxic particulate remain in the city's air.

What did they do? Smother it out by defecating on it? Sorry, not convinced. We have to weigh the damage they do and the wasted $ they represent against the possibility of coming up with alternatives. I still think we should kill it.

93 Good morning, friends in my computer.

It's been a hell of a week and next week looks no better. I ended up working until almost 8 last night, trying to help fix a major problem with our ERP system that has a huge impact on our manufacturing.

Basically, some "glitch" in the system happened after they did the latest patch and it is now rewriting the order of instructions on batch tickets and we can't find a way on our (RD) end to fix it so it's in the hands of the support team. Considering the order of instructions is critical to the proper manufacturing of product, this is a huge mess.

In other stupid news, my best friend's daughters are going to march today to show how much they Love Science Sexually. Ugh.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

The use of the National Guard gives at least the impression that we retain a vestige of the trappings of a "Nation of Laws". Private security groups enforce the notion that "you are on your own!".
--

I don't know what Kennedy did in Alabama, but the National Guard was called out during the riots in the 60's in Detroit.

But... as I understand it, the governor has to call on the National Guard. They just can't be sent in, there has to be an official state request for help. It might have changed, but that's the way it used to be.

As for these paramilitary groups forming... I blame Obama for all of this. Idiots voted for him to feel that they weren't racist, and I think this might be the most racially divided we've ever been. Plus he and his people are IMHO, promoting violence.

Here's the truth, and anything discussed here on AoSHQ is needfully going to be an oversimplification.

He was NOT some lone voice in the wilderness, and there WERE church members who supported his scientific inquiries.

However, the church was NOT willing to back all his theories, and decided they needed to rein him in, to let him know this science stuff was really THEIR purview, and not for laymen to get to uppity about it.

So when they decided to try him for heresy, it was as much about defying the Pope as it was the actual, you know, science, but yeah, that's the point!

We don't decide these things based on who has the authority, we don't decide these things on consensus.

The truth is the truth, and if you are using your power to suppress it, whether it's how the church did it with Galileo, or it's today, with Michael Mann putting Mark Steyn through this charade of a trial, it's essentially the same damn thing.

And in the end? It really doesn't much matter if Mann is closer to correct than his critics, or if the church was not so opposed to science as some people seem to think they were in Galileo's day.

It's the corruption of science that is the thing.

Posted by: Skip at April 22, 2017 10:16 AM (Ot7+c)

147 How much do you want to bet that Kris K is facilitating these interviews so that America can see what a militant fruitcake Jenner is?
________________

I was already convinced he's a creep, and it had nothing to do with his tranny crap.

Saw an interview he did (when he was still Bruce), and he dismissed his first wife (whom he'd met in college, and who had worked to support him while he trained full time for the Olympics) as a nobody.

When he was still married to his "nobody" first wife, he won the Olympic medal and became famous, and he started thinking he was the hottest thing around. He took up with Elvis' ex-girlfriend, Linda Thompson, but then went back to his first wife briefly. He unintentionally knocked up the first wife with a second baby. Bruce didn't want the baby, and tried to convince his "nobody" first wife to have an abortion. She didn't believe in abortion, and refused, and later gave birth to a girl. Bruce went back to Linda Thompson, with whom he had two sons before their short marriage imploded (due to his fantasies about being a woman).

Bruce was married to third wife Kris Kardashian (and basically ignoring his four kids by the first two wives, except for the Christmas card photos), when his daughter called and asked him for money for something. Bruce told her no, and when she asked why, he told her that he shouldn't have to give her his money, because he'd never even wanted her to be born in the first place.

His two sons by Linda Thompson say he was never really a father to them; he rarely spent any time with them, and the younger one (Brody?) says that the only father-figure he had growing up was his older brother. Bruce was apparently paying his child support obligations to his first two wives, but he wasn't doing much else -- even though his sons by Thompson lived nearby.

He's a weird and creepy person -- even without the gender freakiness.

The Governor is the one to mobilize National Guard troops for in-state duty. The President is the one to federalize National Guard troops for duty overseas.

Wasn't it President Eisenhower who Federalized the Alabama National Guard, and sent 'em to the schoolhouse steps in order to enforce de-segregation of the AL schools?

Regardless. Point is, it's legal, has been done and has historic precedent.

And given the very serious ramifications of this State University and its serious First Amendment infractions, it may just be the right situation at the right time, in the right place, to make that point again.

221 Seems to me there have been others, down through the years, who have argued the question of just how much temporal authority a Pope should have.

Probably not worth rehashing those arguments here.

222 'kay. Last comment till the sermon is typed. I don't much care for the use of National Guard troops used against its own citizens. I do not want tanks and humvees and jeeps rolling down my street. I don't want young men and women who went to high school in a particular town, pointing guns at their former classmates. I don't want troops at my house. I'm saying this as a military mom. No.
Posted by: grammie winger

You put the fire out before it threatens every other house on the street. People in the Philadelphia region know this from the horrid experience of watching firefighters stand by while the first row home burned to the ground.

When they were finally told to do their job, it was too late. Every home on the block burned to the ground.

223 I'm guessing the if the Governor of a State is taking actions, or a lack of actions which contravene the U.S. Constitution, the President has the authority to take action.

Which is why I believe there is a great deal of similarity between Alabama in 1963 and Berserkly in 2017.

225 Ha. There's a Husky walking down the sidewalk pulling a baby stroller
with a little girl in it. Mother is walking behind. Why didn't I ever
think of that?

Because the failure mode is the dog taking off after a butterfly dragging the baby into a wreck at full dog speed.

Saw a neighbor once walking an Australian Cattle dog with the leash on the same hand he's pushing the stroller.

243 In the latest airline incident, the one in which an Argentinian woman holding her daughter was allegedly roughed up by a male flight attendant, I am on side of the airline on this one.

One needs to go deep into the various stories that contain eyewitness accounts, before you get to the tale related by a first-class passenger who was close by when the woman very loudly resisted the flight attendant's repeated requests to give him the collapsed stroller she was trying to muscle into a stuffed overhead box.

It's gotten so that flight attendants and cops are in the same category now of Those Whom We Must Diss, because Airline Passengers Matter (TM) and Black Lives Matter.

250 One final thought here: What I was taught in elementary school was essentially what I mentioned here. That the problem with how Galileo was handled at the time, was overreach by the Church. The Church was suspicious of anyone who dared to challenge their authority. That's where their sin came in. Thinking they were the only source of Truth.

Galileo claimed pretty explicitly that science was infallible, with is both a heresy and pretty stupid. He was every bit as arrogant as the Church, and with a lot less reason.

Washington, D.C. - Trey Yingst, OAN Chief White House Correspondent

American citizen Aya Hijazi returned to the United States Thursday night after spending the last three years in an Egyptian prison.

According to a Senior White House official, her release was directly facilitated by President Trump.

The 30 year old native of Virginia was working for a nonprofit in 2014 when she was accused of human trafficking and taken into custody. Despite telling authorities that her job was to help street children, Hijazi was held without bail.

Multiple attempts were made during the Obama administration to negotiate her release, but all were unsuccessful. Her case was brought up earlier this month when Egyptian President el-Sisi visited the White House, but no updates were given on the status of negotiations under the new administration.

Today, with the help of President Trump, she is free.

"The President was directly involved," a Senior Administration Official told One America News

We get the NBC and ABC affiliate stations via the antenna, and when Ms Kinetic has George Stephanopolous or David Muir on so she can see their version of "the news," I go and pick my ukelele in another room.

Yesterday I learned to play the Avett Brothers "No Hard Feelings," both on guitar and uke, the uke part plucked like the banjo Scott Avett plays in song.

It's a great send-off piece if you want a bluegrass dirge played at a funeral, and ends with a repeat of the line, "I have no enemies."

279 Michael Flynn has the best overview of the Galileo affair in the larger context of the debate between geocentrism and heliocentrism.

http://tofspot.blogspot.com/2013/10/the-great-ptolemaic-smackdown-table-of.html

Long story short (it's a very long read):

Galileo's model was no better at predictions than the leading geocentric models. When he published his findings the Church celebrated them. The church was perfectly fine with teaching heliocentrism as a model of the universe for the purpose of predicting heavenly motions as long as it wasn't taught as the way things actually operated, and was willing to revisit the issue when more evidence appeared.

Galileo was an asshole who spent thirty years after his initial discovery attacking fellow astronomers and church officials who were his supporters and basically burning every bridge he had. Even then, the Church investigated him twice for supposed heresy and found nothing. It was only after he published a book, at the Pope's request, in which he was perceived to be mocking the Pope that he was found guilty of pushing heretical interpretations of the Bible.

The Church was a little sensitive about the issue since Europe was currently in the process of tearing apart the Holy Roman Empire in the Thirty Years War. Galileo's punishment? A seventy year old man who hated to travel was given house arrest in his seaside villa.
