April 1st. April Fools Day. Heaven forbid that college students have any fun.

The University of Alaska-Fairbanks is planning to construct a new building in the shape of a vagina. Administrators at the University of Wisconsin-Superior are selling drugs out of a new campus meth lab in a scheme to lower tuition rates. Parking authority personnel near Rutgers University will start throwing grenades at drivers who park in the wrong location.

Don’t believe me? Good instinct.

These stories were all part of college newspapers’ satirical April Fools’ Day editions —and they all caught the critical attention of school administrators

Do you find yourself in social situations where you don't know anyone? Here's what you need to know. Your humble Cob might try a few of these sometime in the near future.

So El Salvador doesn't want to allow mining. Perhaps they can live in grass huts and manufacture items using paper mache.

“Mining is not an appropriate way to reduce poverty and inequality in this country,” said Ivan Morales, country director for the charity Oxfam in El Salvador, according to DW. “It would only exacerbate the social conflict and level of water contamination we already have.”

Cameras shouldn't be allowed in Wal-Mart. Or should they?

Tonight's ONT has been brought to you by Caturday.

However, I hitched my wagon to a guy who is supremely social. Everywhere we go he talks to everyone, and they talk back. You'd think after 40 years of watching how it works I would have figured it out. I guess I'm just slow.

She wasn't afraid of anything. She would let you feed her, but when it came to brass tacks she would come at my dog or me with all four paws and didn't care till blood was drawn. After awhile she got used to us but even still she would get in her fighting stance when she felt uncomfortable. Like a kamikaze, she was ready to go down as long as she got her pound of flesh. Vicious mother when she decided to be.

Apparently the Syriac translation of the Lord's Prayer and (more so) the Beatitudes rhyme. This gave parts of the New Testament a rhetorical force that it never (directly) had in Greek The Syriac translator must have been a genius. No wonder Christianity spread like wildfire in the Syriac-speaking world.

And then, well... the Muslims got into it and used the trick for their own dogma...

Have only seen pupusas once in SoCal (though I haven't checked in the greater LA area, which probably has plenty, since it has just about everything/everyone in the ethnic eating department).

95 59 Miley: I was reading about how the Qur'an, also, deconstructed Biblical literature. Emran El Badawi, "The Qur'an and the Aramaic Gospel Tradition".

I was about to go batshit an hour or so ago. El-cheap under-the-counter fluorescent light. It was blinking and annoyed me. I looked and sure enough, I had some of the little dinky F8T5 tubes. Damn fixtures are so cheap, it makes me sick. The little sockets are a bitch, because they're so cheaply made.

I get the old tube, one of two out, and I hear some plastic break. It was the el-cheapo starters. The damned cheap plastic had become so brittle, due to heat and or light so close that it just shattered.

I'd say well shit. And I even had a couple of new starters. I go to try to take the old one out. Well, long story, but the damned socket, some el-cheapo Chinese made thing, wouldn't let the starter come loose. It's supposed to be simple. Just push it in, turn it a quarter turn, and it comes out.

But no, it was stuck. At that point, I was in to it, because the starter was shattered and wouldn't work. So I had to take the damn fixture down.

I ended up having to destroy, completely, the starters, both of them, in order to get them out. The trouble was the el-cheapo Chinese sockets had a little catchy defect in the slots that would just catch the little posts and wouldn't let them turn out like it's supposed to.

Before it was over, I was about ready to go running through the woods naked and screaming. But I fixed the damn thing.

Somebody needs to go to jail for that, if not the electric chair. I guarantee you there's a Democrat somewhere who is ultimately responsible for it.

go to Lowe's or whatever hardware place and get the LED undercabinet strip lighting. The fittings are similar in size to the fluorescent set ups and they work much better.

I have some that I bought at the local hardware store and they install with two Phillips screws, and run off of 110 socket. If I had to wire it into an existing wall switch I could wire it in with a couple of crimp connectors, easier that replacing the wall switch.

I love mine, and they are the cheap slightly flickery type that strobe really fast movement. But, they are good for years, they don't need a warm up time, and work in the cold.

I'm not disagreeing with your conclusion about the freaking dims, by the way.

Word! That was an I credible 90 minutes of raw and hard news radio today. What a great charity Craig Sawyer has started. The military and all the Ops men are pissed off and motivated.

This is the story of our lifetimes. It is the line that has been drawn in the sand.

I'm looking forward to tomorrow with Craig Sawyer on The 4-6 show with Alex.

People thought Alex Jones would back down and he was right to see the distraction that Comet Pizza was framed to be . That SOB hates and I mean hates pedophiles. And these people are pure evil doing evil shit that needs a light shown on them.

They screwed with the wrong man in Craig Sawyer. He is legit and has the juice in all the right places to see this through.

New LED installations are inexpensive for what they do. If you want to go higher end you can get LED replacements for your fluorescent tubes that fit right in the light fittings with no other modification. Except they are a little brighter and whiter.

Buy higher end, the cheaper ones are kind of blue and do have a slight hesitation in coming on

I have a friend who built on the the back of her house and they blocked the window over her kitchen sink making that end of the kitchen gloomy and dark. I suggested she put in the LEDs in the now blind window and she also put in stained glass into the window. I love that sort of installation.

Two muslim cab drivers are arguing on the curb of of a middle eastern airport. It is loud, and unpleasant, and there's lots of drama, arm waving and insults. No blows are exchanged, but it is very overly dramatic.

A while later, a muslim cab driver gets into an argument with an American. There is much arm waving, insults and drama on the side of the muslim. The American hits him and knocks him out. The muslim is stunned, since he never even thought being physically hit was an option.

So... be careful what you wish for Imam Ellison. You might not like what you get.

233 Hi ONT'ers, and thanks Mis Hum.

Miley, i've got a little 'its and it's' story to tell.

it happened during our community's Big Read event, this year celebrating Emily Dickinson.

The local public library put together a small (20 poems) coloring book of Dickinson to use during readings, so that we could color. Really, it's a thing.

Four instances of the wrong "its" in that sucker. and turns out, they occurred in the original, in Dickinson's handwritten copies. So

what to do? what do you think? edit or leave intact?

Posted by: Ladylibertarian at April 01, 2017 11:18 PM (TdMsT

Fact. No doubt about it. Here is the link I posted to Insominiac with the epic 90 minute news involving Craig Sawyer and Alex Jones pledging to raise 10 million dollars to independently fund the docuseries/Cops like TV show of Special Ops and law enforcement raiding the targets in Europe and the USA. He goes into the history from the last 30 years, the blood and sex rituals, dozens of hard news.

The military is involved. They say they have never seen anything. And the courts have been blocking and thwarting all efforts to prosecute. So it's elites who are evil pedophiles and sadistic murders vs. Our mulitray.

Not a waste of time I promise. God Bless!

Chat up the heavier persons. You'll present a smaller target when someone begins shooting up the gathering because they have no breakthrough socialization strategy.

If you don't want to, or feel readers will complain even though you put a preface in saying this is pulled from Em's original manuscript, you can

1) correct it like her editor did
II) Mark each instance [sic]
b) draw a red wavy line under each instance just like in the original MS-Word document
iv - issue a blue pencil and a mailing label to Em's current location and let your patrons entertain themselves.

It starts with the pitching staff and the bullpen. The coming-of-age of the offense plays into that nicely.

297 Slap, Denver has been Hell for pitching. In the higher thin altitude, the ball doesn't break as much as it does at sea level. They've done all kind of stuff to the balls like keeping them in a humidifier to get the ball to move more. Some pitchers adapt to it, and some don't.
I've seen pitchers that struggled at Coors Field go to other teams and do great. I can't say with any certainty, but I think a lot of that is mind set. There are pitchers that come into Coors Field, which is definitely a hitters park even with the big outfield, that can dominate. San Francisco *spit* comes to mind. A solid starting rotation, and a good bullpen are the perennial issues for the Rockies.
Another thing with the Rockies are injuries. Tulo before he was traded, and Story last year are evidence of that. Reynolds at first was great then got injured, Story as short on a roll for rookie of the year, Para in left field, it really cost us games.
Then you get Cargo and Nolan going hot, cold, hot cold and games that we should have won, we lose. Mostly the one run games when our closer comes out and gives up five runs in the bottom of the ninth.

Gray is going to be good. For another team, probably...lol

Same with Anderson.

One of the recurring themes of late-cold-war thrillers was of the agent, assigned to a station, who comes to realize he has more in common with his opposite from the enemy, than he has with the corrupt officious bastards that he is working for.

Now turn that into a political thriller, where that agent arrives at high political office.

457 442 Enjoyed the "Why modern art is absolute crap" video.

Reminds me of a time a number of years ago when we took the family to the Tacoma Museum of Glass. The "featured artist" mainly had pieces with histrionic political themes. For example a picture of George W. Bush on a crucifix, with dollar bill signs and guns floating around him. What utterly pointless ugly crap. It all looked like it was put together by a 6 year old with bad social skills and worse art skills.

We haven't been back to the Tacoma Museum of Glass in the decade since.

--In 2009 my dad and I happened to be in Paris and we went to the Popendreau Museum. the building itself is actually cool-lloking, and may be considered a work of art.

The inside, however . . .

There was an exhibit about a Belgian artist from the early 1900s who made so-called "primitive art" that was actually interesting, but as for the rest of the museum . . . total fucking shit. One video piece was a naked chick with a 70s porn bush hula-hooping with a barbed wire hula-hoop. Ick.

As I have learned, there are some f**ktards who think having a gun makes them Superman. I lived this a little over a month ago. I did not know that a lane was closed due to an accident. So when I was unable to allow him to merge in front of me, he assumed I "cut him off". Yes, his actual words were that I cut him off. He persued me and tried to make me crash into him. At a stoplight he opened his pickup truck door, turned 180 degrees towards me, and demanded I get out of my car. Yes I believe he had a gun. Yet he was convinced his reaction could beat my action he was so angry.
I have found many a person that thinks it is their God given right to sh*t on others and how dare they take exception to such a thing.

535 I will tell the whole story: Grab a soda!

So I was on Curry here in Tempe AZ. It goes from 3 lanes to two.
I was in the far right lane and passing a white Cadillac Escalade in the middle lane.
I suddenly notice the driver is slowly inching over into my lane despite being right next to me. Inch-inch-stop, inch-inch-stop. Finally I am forced to hit the brakes to avoid a collision. As I skid to a stop a jogger heading the opposite direction on the sidewalk stands on one leg and curls into a ball apparently convinced I am about to hop the curb and kill him. Miraculously I safely come to a stop 6 inches from said curb. I start to move forward into the middle lane (approaching the intersection) only to be cut off a 2nd time by the Cadillac driver. Again I slam on the brakes as they move over two lanes into the left turn lane.
http://preview.tinyurl.com/m7wpaxf
I too move into the left turn lane and I'm livid. Yes, I get out of my car (but stand next to it) and I'm telling her what I think of her and her driving when she gives me the finger. Yes, she actually thinks she has the right to give me the finger after nearly causing a fatal accident for no reason.

Well, I had intended to overnight at Virgin River Casino in Mesquite, Nevada, but it was the weekend, and it was nearly full, and they wanted $99 for a room of Motel 6 caliber. Clark Co., NV now has a 12.5% hotel room tax!So I went on to St.George, UT. All full up. Another 50 miles to Cedar City, by which time the roads were getting sloppy from a snowfall earlier in the day. Visibility was crap. Found a room in the Day's Inn. Still $89, but by that time, I had no desire to look any further.Roads were good all day today, aside from the usual crazy-ass traffic in the SLC corridor. There was a metric fuckton of RV's and travel trailers northbound on I-15. All snowbirds headed home.Howdy to the Horde.

556 All the best M-Goddess...really Darlin, Appreciate Your skill an effort.

TKAW.....I admire your restraint. Seriously...

When other folks endanger our lives and getting angry about that makes a person the "violent" culprit....?!?! A WTF, sadly normal, situation.....

I have a Go Pro so I can film the drunks, unstable, unable drivers that I encounter on the WV highways. All because if one of those mindless fucks end me....hopefully there's a record of Their Guilt.

Sadly, I started doin the filming years ago, after I watched a car I followed hit a bridge pillar at 9:30am. Everyone lived, but were moderately injured. And the driver was shitfaced on painkillers.
Fuck, he didn't even realize how mangled his left arm was, compound fracture etc..., even as we stabilised him.

Sooooooo.....bad drivers are a peeve of mine.

Frankly, certain vehicular actions/inactions should be classified as attempted murder.....via negligence at a minimum.

Diatribe over.......apologies y'all.

Logan was a pretty good flick, did El S offer his opinion on it in a past thread? ;-)
