Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Hillary's Insipid "H With an Arrow" Logo Took Three People Two Month's WorkAs Z said in Men in Black: "You're everything we've come to expect from government employees." Though they weren't employees; they were volunteers. Employees would have taken another six months plus an addition $10 million to cover cost overruns. This reads like a spoof, but the Free Beacon claims this is genuine."I put together a three-person team: me, designer Jesse Reed, and project manager Julia Lemle," Bierut wrote. "We would work in secret for the next two months." Bierut says the goal of the two-month secret project was "to create something new and different."And boy, did you exceed expectations. This looks like a sign in a former Soviet Republic telling you where to drop off your dying relatives for euthanasia I did a ten second google search for "square H." I thought it would be very simple, but it was something else entirely -- it was very, very simple. A theoretical perfectly square H (artist's conception) "Although we explored dozens of symbols, the one everyone gravitated to was the simplest of all: a perfectly square H," Bierut explained. Wait, I thought it turned out to be "anything but" simple, but now it's the "simplest." "But its simplicity was deceptive."No, it's not deceptive. Block letters are kind of the opposite of deceptive. But anyway, here's the deceptive part, per this design expert: "What looked like an H was really a window, capable of endless transformations." A perfectly square H which is really a window, capable of "endless transformations" By adding in an arrow, the logo was complete. Bro, do you even lift concepts and buzzwords you barely understand? Get ready for a final avalanche of meaningless buzzwords. "We finally found what we thought was the right finishing touch, the simplest thing in the world: an arrow, emerging naturally from the geometry of the letterform, pointing forward, toward the future."It emerged so naturally from the letterform they had to crudely draw it on with red paint. By the way, this endlessly transformative frame of a window with an arrow through it could also be visualized as a sad blue Democrat letterform which has been mortally wounded by an arrow red with heart's blood and Republican hatred which could be said to emerge naturally from the geometry of Hillary's scandals and complete lack of message or personality. And the block nature of the letter could be read as a the plan of a cell block. That, too, emerges organically and yet complexly from the letterform and its numinous transformations of mind:space and discourses about power relationships between jailer and prisoner. Anyway, so that's the story of how a logo which an 8 year old kid would have designed in his first draft became Hillary's much criticized amateurish symbol of failure and incompetency. You gotta see this sketchbook of "new and different" conceptspaces for the letterform "H," some with arrows in them. Comments(Jump to bottom of comments)1

But that would be hard to achieve. You'd need an endless supply of protean window panes and an endless supply of transformative rocks.
But this simple yet "anything but" simple design wasn't quite perfect yet -- while it wasn't an H, really, but an endlessly transforming window opening upon superdimensional vistas and higher planes beyond mortal man's ken, it wasn't quite perfect enough yet. It's non-euclidean! Posted by: Zombie H. P. Lovecraft at March 30, 2017 06:16 PM (rUIbB) Posted by: Holmes at March 30, 2017 06:16 PM (fi5nC) 13
I have never noticed they were capable of "endless transformations." Pretty much they alternate between the "Open" and "Closed" "transformation."

An arrow pointing to the right, is forward, progressive, forward thinking. "This way to the future" the arrow says. All those traffic signs to which we have become accustomed, always right arrows for entrance to the place we are going, always right turns. Left arrows are for exits.
Left arrows are regressive, a return to the past, backwards thinking, oppressive history as we all know from our own history. Hillary would have brought about a glorious future if only we had the common sense to follow her lead. Posted by: Nester Wayless at March 30, 2017 06:28 PM (K0S/Z) 74

Scott Adams (of Dilbert fame) said that it looked like a sign directing you to a hospital, which reinforced all the rumors about Hillary having serious health problems. And once you had that "hospital" image in your head, you couldn't unsee it -- like the hidden arrow in the FedEx logo.

We should not be so snarky. If those Berniebots would not have rejected Hillary just because she reminded them of that harpy nagging great aunt, teacher, etc they hated she could have won the election. I'm sure the democrats can get their minds right and be ready for Hillary in 2020 or possibly Chelsea if Hillary herself gives out. Or if they must reject the Clintons after all they did for the DNC their party can certainly embrace someone in a similar mold such as Elizabeth Warren. Yes - I think they should definitely go with this archetype again.

They wanted to build something along these lines, Strobe. Didn't make the bureaucratic minds happy, or the pork-pushers in Congress happy. The original plan was for the Shuttle orbiter and external tank to be mounted on top of the first stage of the Saturn V; said first stage would then do a SpaceX style landing, be refurbished, and reused. As a bonus, we would still be able to build the Saturn stack if we needed to go to the moon, or launch a whole space station at once or whatever.
Instead, we got the Shuttle we all know. Sigh. Posted by: Locarno at March 30, 2017 06:43 PM (HhYvn) Posted by: runner at March 30, 2017 06:43 PM (c6/9Q) 178

These are the smart people. Also, that's not a real working sketch. That's a for-media production, backfilling to signify for how they supposedly came up with the logo. Nobody works like this. They did the mock-up in five minutes on a graphic design program and partied for the next two months on Hill's donors' dime. Posted by: lauraw at March 30, 2017 06:53 PM (D+nQH) 245

There are no bars here in the country of The Saints, thus no music dives. I know I am late to the game here and I haven't read all the comments...... But nothing enhances the visual impactfullness of the logo more than the extraordinary combination of two, yes two, primary colors in the logo; but most of all the use of red, the color of your opponents party, in the part of the logo that literally covers the color of your party and the initial of your candidate, while the red also being the only symbol that indicates any action whatsoever loudly pointing to a rightward direction and the blue sitting there with like a drunken sot missing one shoe.

We're overnighting in Moab, Utah, a place with thousands of hotel rooms, another few thousand campsites, a hundred-or-so eateries, and no live music venues. There are no bars here in the country of The Saints, thus no music dives. Last night we were in a tiny town with one cowboy motel over on the western edge of Capital Reef, just us, the darkness, a billion stars, and one coyote yipping. The drive over here along the Fremont river had breathtaking views, and we thought this town might have some entertainment. Sadly, no. I think what the Saints do for fun is try and sign us Gentiles up, so we can get saved.
Posted by: Les Kinetic at March 30, 2017 07:02 PM (UUA2K) I'm actually surprised you didn't find any good dive bars with good entertainment. Moab is the place in Southern Utah that hippie outdoor loving non-Mormons settle in to get away from all the religion freaks. At least that's my take. One of the most famous breweries in Utah is IN Moab, the imaginatively named Moab Brewery. Their Dead Horse Amber Ale is supposed to be good, among other things. That is gorgeous country, I'm a bit jealous I'm not there right now. Perfect time to do it. Dead Horse Point is nearby too and spectacular. Posted by: LizLem at March 30, 2017 07:16 PM (hvf9s) 347

President Donald Trump has granted the U.S. military more authority to go after al-Qaida linked militants in Somalia, approving a Pentagon request to allow more aggressive airstrikes, officials said Thursday.
Trump's decision, which was made Wednesday but not immediately announced, allows U.S. special operations forces to accompany Somali National Army troops and other African allies as they move closer to the fight, enabling them to call in offensive airstrikes quicker. Though, if you want to be a stickler, I suppose you can say that Zeno's Arrow can be endlessly transformed into Zeno's Arrow, and each infinitesmial iota of sliding between "open" and "shut" can count as a new "transformation," and therefore a window is in fact capable of "endless transformations."
But there is an end point, a maximum of "open" contrasted with a maximum of "close". Thus, the Zeno infinitesimals described here demonstrate that "endless" is entirely different from "limitless"; that 'end' is not the same as 'limit'. What a cheap bitch. She was sitting on more than a BILLION dollars but she wouldn't loosen her talons to drop this bozo designer a fuckin' dime.

Did it not occur to them that the logos behind their logo, of pointing to the future, puts the future on the right and that it's red?
No damn wonder the Democrats did so poorly - Hillary was subliminally telling people to vote Republican! Helluva logo, guys. Posted by: LCMS Rulz! at March 31, 2017 12:02 AM (o7l6R) 446
I guess you can also break the window, and glass could shatter in a not-quite-infinite-but-near-enough number of ways. More "endless transformations."
But that would be hard to achieve. You'd need an endless supply of protean window panes and an endless supply of transformative rocks. I said during the campaign that The Donald has repeatedly broken the Overton window, melted down the shards, and then shivved The Narrative with it. And there's a theoretically endless supply of that window. So there you go. Posted by: SciVo at March 31, 2017 12:12 AM (1xpdK) 447

I like the H with the period, but realised that she doesn't have one of those. Also, it spells Ho.

>>>283 It always looked like a plane going through the Twin Towers to me. I found it successfully captured how I felt about Her, so... good design?
Posted by: Millenial curious at March 30, 2017 07:00 PM (OqPqQ) That's fascinating. Now I'll never be able to unsee that. Posted by: m at March 31, 2017 04:50 AM (Gqgs8) 451
Left-to-right arrow supposedly signifying the way to the future is culturally insensitive to those (Arabic, Hebrew, occasional Chinese and others) who read and write right-to-left.

Who thought of the slogan "Love Trumps Hate"? I never understood this or the signs they used.
1. You're using your opponent's name in your slogan. 2. The Hillary "H" is used as the first letter of "Hate"...so you see the "H" and "hate" at the same time. Subliminal message? 3. The word "trump" means: a card of a suit any of whose cards will win over a card that is not of this suit; a decisive overriding factor or final resource; or dependable and exemplary person. So "love" "Trumps" Hillary (Hate). Trump is better than Hillary. Posted by: Jimmy C at March 31, 2017 07:37 AM (7+tbn) 453

"We finally found what we thought was the right finishing touch, the
simplest thing in the world: an arrow, emerging naturally from the geometry of the letterform, pointing forward, toward the future." And the designers subliminally knew that the "future" was to the right which is the direction the arrow is pointing. Posted by: jix at March 31, 2017 01:11 PM (Xx3z8) 455
You'd think they would have the arrow pointing to the left.
