Nunes: FBI Continues Stonewalling on Requests to Disclose Which Persons Were "Unmasked" In Reports They Circulated

I wonder why.

Nunes said last Wednesday that the FBI had not said whether it would respond to the committee's March 15 letter. He told THE WEEKLY STANDARD on Tuesday that the agency was still not cooperating, and that he did not know why.

"We're still having an issue there," he said. "I'm trying to get to the bottom of that."

...

The committee letter specifically requested the names of any unmasked U.S. persons related to the Trump or Clinton campaigns whose identities were disseminated from June 2016 to January 2017. They also asked for the names of agencies or officials that requested or authorized the unmasking and dissemination of that information.

The problem is that from the very very beginning, J. Edgar Hoover set up the FBI as partly being a blackmail racket that ensures its ongoing existence because it keeps dirt on each successive president. J. Edgar Hoover had dirt on FDR, and thereby forced FDR's compliance to Hoover's agenda. Same with Kennedy, Johnson and so on. I think it long ago has become ossified into the FBI structure to always passively "threaten" each president by letting it be known that they have dirt on him - and in so doing, assure the FBI's continued existence.

I fully expect a primary challenger to Manchin. It'll fail horribly because Manchin is actually well loved in WV, but it will also happen.

I believe their base when they say that they will primary anyone who helps Gorsuch onto the "stolen seat".

Random thought:

Next time there is a Democratic Senate and President, do you think that they will try to add a 10th justice to make up for the "stolen seat"?

Hillary was already bought.

I'd take the bet that Putin has her 33,000 missing e-mails, so she was also blackmail-able.

How could the Russians be so sophisticated at hacking and not have them
.
.
.Exactly. Russia is so sophisticated they can hack the election and the DNC but they didn't get into hillary's unsecured private email server? Give me a break.

They have everything she ever sent or received along with other hostile Governments. She is/was ripe for blackmail and the Russians would obviously want her as President and everyone should know that but the left refuses to even acknowledge that fact.

Also, according to this latter day Edward R. Murrow, it was two functionairies on the NSC staff that "leaked" to Nunes, and two people that McMaster wanted "out" because they were "too political" but Trump intervened DIRECTLY to keep them there.

Make of this what you will. I think most of the Media people have malaria compounded with mass delusions of grandeur.

106 The problem is that from the very very beginning, J.
Posted by: zombie at March 30, 2017 04:24 PM (DQ4Fv)

Yes and no.

The FBI under Hoover was corrupt but the rank and file was held to standards of professionalism that no law enforcement had ever been held to.

There was a lot of wiretapping going on, but you didn't have agents working for Whitey Bulger under Hoover.

But, correct me if I'm wrong.

Back in Civil War I, we had generals like McClellan and Hooker, who were good at assembling armies, but did not want to use them when push came to shove.

We had others like Burnside, who went off half-cocked, and then sat in the mud when he got his army mauled.

So here we are. I kinda think we're still at the pre-Sumter stage. Civil War II is about to start, and as long as we have some Grants and Shermans and Sheridans and Thomases in place, I'm ok with waiting for the shooting to start.

Nah, the FBI director is supposed to be "non political" so he gets 5 year terms (a maximum of 2 of them, IIRC).

I don't see how that would stop Trump from demanding his resignation on day 1, and I don't see how the D's could be upset about it (politically) since they don't like Comey either.

If Comey refused to resign, it mayyy take an act of congress to get him removed, I'm not sure.

It shouldn't, because he works for the executive branch and serves at the pleasure of the president, but who knows

164 157 I'm not going to speak to that. I know lots of folks here are partial to that side of things, but the analogy is, we have the manpower, we have the reigns in Washington, we have the majority of the people. We have the infrastructure.

All signs point to a reasonable expectation of victory. Do we, or do we not have the men in place who will lead the fight?

I don't want my words to be in any way an indication of a preference for who was on which side of the line then.

The FBI reports to Congress. This isn't exactly a new proposition.

This is why people (I) don't trust the systems that are in place. Why should we when the systems aren't working.

Who was it that very nicely ripped the face off the poor FBI guy who
said well we decided Congress didn't need to see this and the response
was you don't get to decide that, I do.

I have no practical solutions for this other than that people need to start doing jail time for contempt.

232 208 Oh today is 36 years since Reagan was shot.

I don't know why people are lying and saying that because there is no way that it's been 36 years since I remember it clearly and I'm only 29.

-Why are you reporters and Dem's focusing on the "process" and not the substance.

You shit for brains reporters always protect your "anonymous" sources and tell everyone to focus on the substance. Now with Trump, you want to focus on the process and those "anonymous" sources instead of the substance.

One of those things where opinions don't matter, and frankly, how the law is written does not seem to matter.

If the consensus in Washington is the guy can't be fired, then he can't be fired. We can argue whether that's right or not all day long. It's not going to change a damn thing though.

271 >J. Edgar Hoover had dirt on FDR, and thereby forced FDR's compliance to Hoover's agenda

the exact opposite. FDR gave Hoover autonomy and responsibility for anti-subversive ops; the quid pro quo was that the FBI spied on FDR's domestic opponents.

Even the pinko Theoharis admits this to be the case.

The FBI did this for every President through Nixon; the breach between previous allies Nixon and Hoover was caused by the FBI spying on Nixon for Johnson (some "dragon lady" issue, IIRC).

283 Look, at my company, it is difficult to fire people. So what we do instead is what is politely called "Put a saddle on them and ride them round the office." Here is how it would work:

Step 1, have Trump schedule a meeting with Comey at the FBI headquarters.

Step 2, bring Nunes, Sessions, the press, and the Dems on the committee to the meeting. Surprise MF!

3) Step 3, ask for the people to explain the delay in producing the documents to everyone. Work your way down the fucking org chart, slowwwwwly. Comey will say "ah, fuck, the chief investigator needs more time...uh..." call in the chief investigator "Ah fuck, I gave that to my underling...um..." call in the underling "Oh fuck, the secretary has it....we were looking for stamps...um..." Drag this part out. make them sweat. Be polite, but firm. make it clear you have nothing better to do than torture them.

4) Step 4 - ask for the documents requested, right the fuck now. When they delay, say...you'll wait. Then...wait. Trump can spring for pizza. keep waiting. All night if you have to. have a nice time. Joke with the reporters, the other committee members. But don't leave.

Simple. As. that. Oh and bonus - you will NEVER have to do this stunt again, and you will ALWAYS get the documents you requested with the greatest urgency from EVERY Federal agency.

Trust me on this....
